09/28/2002 Cruise

My DH has no problem stopping at a store or gas station when we find ourselves lost. However, I am the one that goes in and asked for directions. This works out very well, he retains his male ego, and we get to our destination on time. My problem has always been getting him out of the driveway on time. There always seems to be "one more" thing to do before we leave.:p

Hey Mary how about a countdown. Mind is too numb. Stayed up too late last night.

What happened to your countdown clock????

164 days (23 weeks)

My husband will not ask directions. He also will not call ahead some place to see if they have what he is looking for. I think this is because he was in the Air Force when the Yellow Pages had their big ad campain "Let Your Fingers Do The Walking"!!!
He also can't tell if the dishes in the dishwasher are CLEAN or DIRTY!!!

BUT......He CAN install new floors, windows, ceiling, and doors, paint, lay tile, do plumbing and electrical! He can also do all our car repairs. ON TOP of all that, he is the sweetest guy I have ever met! A wonderful husband and father to our 2 children.

I guess as faults go, not asking directions is one I am happy to live with!

Several people had been using the wrong code and it was giving the boards fits. They have turned them all off for now.

Kathy and I are going to Knoxville this weekend and take a computer to her sister. It is about a three hour trip one way.

Have to keep this short as I have some clothes in the washer that need to go in the dryer. Mike

Worked out of town yesterday and not exactly feeling my best. Hope it's just this heat wave we got last couple of days. Hadn't put the air-conditioner in bedroom and you could make a pizza on our bed. Got the fans out and have them around the house but it is still awfully close. I wouldn't mind if I was within walking distance of a beautiful blue ocean or deck pool ....he he he!

So glad to hear that Stacie is better now that she is home doing nothing but building a beautiful Katie for Mike and Kathy!

About the driving directions thing ..... is that a lot like when you are assembling something new? Hubby has a hard time with both. He'd rather try it on his own and then it's "I'll pull up here, you go in and get the directions!" After all these years I've gotten really good at the map stuff ... of late I download a lot of stuff too. When we drive from PA to FL .... ahead of time I make stuff on the puter that makes it easier. You know Route 8l South to Winchester VA then Route 61, etc. So much of the time, we can stay on one route for several states.

Well work calls.....

Howdy! How are all of you?

We spent our morning in the basement with the portable radio, craft box and the DVD player. We had 60+ mile an hour winds...and from my years of experience as a native Texan who knows what twisters look like just before they form, and who knows that "train" sound....Annabelle, Kona and I headed for the basement!

But we are fine. Some minor damage. Our neighborhood didn't fare too well though. As Annabelle tells it... "We went in the basement, the winds were scary, we had the crap box and the DVD and then we made the winds go away. YEAH!" hehehehe

So glad to hear Stacie is not hospitalized, but can do bed rest at home!

DH will stop to ask directions. You know how those task oriented people can be! But he knows better than to send me in to ask. I am an idiot when it comes to directions.

Hope everyone's tax day was bearable. We are going to WDW to celebrate how much we owed! (?) Seems only fair.

Welcome Kelsie, Welcome back Power, Hi Tuli (was that you who won the Big Game in Jersey???)

Okay, everyone have a great day! Only one week till we hop in the car and head south!

~*~*~*~*~*~ Just bumping you lucky guys up ~*~*~*~*~*~

You were on page 2!!! YIKES!!!!!

Relling~ My mom lives about 1 mile from Augusta Natl...she came up here this past weekend while some Marriott executives stayed in her condo! They couldn't find a room!!!!! LOL!!! Needless to say, she will be able to stay at pretty much any Marriott she wants too for the next year! LOL!!!! Apparently, there was a BIG shortage of places to stay this year!

PowerAlaska~ MOST very jealous here of your upcoming trip to Alaska! I do believe (without including DCL) That was our favorite cruise/trip! We really really want to go back next spring and do land & sea!

Goofy~ Wish we would atleast pass each other on our respective trips in few weeks! Maybe we could stop at rest area?? LOL!!!

Papa~ Glad Stacie seems to be doing good.

Ok, gotta scoot and mind my own business (i.e. sulking I won't be on your cruise) Have great day!!!!!

Karen glad that you and annabelle are fine. Lynette, girl just come on down and jump on the ship.

Kathy goes to the doctor tomorrow for a couple of tests. We are just going to run her in and out tomorrow. You know kind of like tuning up your auto;) neither one of us are spring chickens any more.

Have to keep her in good shape, I am too old to try and break in a new model:rolleyes: Mike

Kathy ... Hope you make out OK with the tests today! Be thinking
of you. Are you getting a tune-up to be a grandmomma?

Just wondering if they ever came up with the actual cause of the fire on the Magic ... saw a lot at first but nothing on the final findings.

Time is getting close for the inaugeral Western ... can't wait to see some of those trip reports.

This weekend is supposed to be rainy ... sound like a good time to put in the LaVida Mickey CD and try some closet cleaning.

Check back later.

Hi Gang! Pray for nice weather for us in SC this weekend. We are taking the kids camping. Will check in with you all on Sunday afternoon. Have a great weekend!

Yipee! Friday is here! DH has to work late tonight so I'm in charge of feeding the kids. Can you say Chuck-E-Cheese? DH also has to work Sat. 7Am- 5PM. And I have to work 3PM-11PM at my "other job". But we are both off Sun. I WILL log on to see the Magic this Sat. Anyone know when the best time is?
Went to see a Periodontist on Thursday. Having some trouble with one tooth. Too much bone loss. Found out I am a "good candidate" for something called Guided Tissue Regeneration. Translation, gum surgery. May 8th is the big day. Can't wait. :(
Relling, hope you have a great time camping.
Kathy, hope everything checked out OK.
Karen, glad you and your family are fine.
Got to get the kids to the Pizza Place before they drive me crazy. Hope everyone has a great weekend. Twinave

Ave the best time is 5:20 to 5:45edt. Kathy's tests came back ok. She has a varicous vein in her stomach? They did the scope down the throat and then ran a cat over her for the ct scan. She got to drink some barium after all:( She has been diaganosed with Isolated Gastric Varix so far. We will get the cat scan results next week.

Stacey is doing great!!! Katie has gained a pound in the last two weeks and her ambiotic fluid level has increased since Stacey has been on bedrest. Still looking at 37 week delivery by c section. The girl just refuses to get out of that breech position.

I guess the hard part is catching the cat to run over someone. Boy those things can scratch you:D :D :D Mike

Greetings All! I am inviting you to visit a FREE website where I have FINALLY gotten around to posting pictures of the infamous Cruisetoberfest Cruise dated 9/22/01. YAY!!!

Please go to www.picturetrail.com and in the left column in the space under "Visit Album" type in "Tulirose". That will take you to a page where I have three photo albums, the second one being the Disney Magic one. Please view at your leisure and hopefully enjoy. And don't forget to sign my guest book so I know you came to visit!

Hope you are all doing well. Miss you guys and wishing we were going with you in September!

lynetteSC ~ Have been on a number of different cruise lines. Without a doubt, DCL has the finest ships and trips. When it comes to Alaska, the cruising that I prefer is a river raft with my flyrod. (Can be just so-so when the temp is 45 and raining.) Alaska is so BIG, my recommendation to all is land travel with small plane support. (Goofynut's DH has a plane!!!). Love the place, even when I have to work most of the time. Memories are always of the "good times", somehow, I seem to forget about the six months of snow and temps at -30. Anyhow, glad that you like it, if you the trip again, let me know what I can do to advise. With the exception of the VERY far northeast corner of Alaska, I have seen most of it. My fishing buddy has seen what I have not.

Rellingtwin-Papa-Goofynut ~ Hope all is well, Alabama is asking if you have finished digitizing the logo. She is home and been quilting, sewing, etc. Mostly patching the "favorite" clothes of her wandering ways waif before he heads "north to alaska"

Mike - We did our first Geocache today! WOW! What fun! We found it easily after about a 40 minute hike. Annabelle was such a trooper! It was a beautiful day here, with bright sun and 40 degrees. Perfect day for it. We took a Gift Certificate and left a sleeve of golf balls. (do geocachers also play golf?) This is definitely something we will do again! Thanks for posting it on this thread! (Hope Kathy's IGV does cause her too much discomfort)

Looking forward to our week at the AKL. We leave the 26th. Wish we were getting on a four day and then doing the AKL. But I am not sure I would want to be on the Aaron Carter cruise anyway. :) (actually, I am lying...I don't care who is on the cruise...I JUST WANT TO BE ON THE BOAT!)

Lynette, we will wave at you as we cross the GA/FL state line!

Power - did a cruise to Alaska when I was younger....it was great! THe ice is really blue at the Glacier!

Going to check out Tuli's pics right now!

Twinave - sounds like you are a good candidate for high dental bills! Hope they aren't so high that they interfere with vacation plans! Keep your priorities in line! (You can always get fake teeth! :D )

Have a great rest of this weekend!

Hello everyone,
Rosemary, just got back from looking at your pictures and just loved the album. Mike had already signed it so I want to let you know how much I liked it. LOVED IT!

Stacey is doing so much better, she is her happy bubbly self without the worries of the last 3 weeks of her college bothering her. Her professors have been understanding. Katie has gained weight but refuses to get her legs down and her butt up. She seems to want to just stay breech. Her Aunt Kathryn (DD1) did the same thing and so was her grandfather (Papa):D They all backed into the world.

Yes, they ran the garden hose down my throat. Then he took some biopsies (SP) I didn't know he would do that. It really wasn't bad. I had a very pleasant but very short sleep and went straight back to the room where Mike was waiting. I thought that was that and I would go home. Nope! He told me that he wanted me to have a cat scan to look at my spleen. (????????) What's up with that? So, this terror of being put to sleep but getting it over with and circumventing the having to swallow that darn barium was all for naught! I STILL had to swallow that stuff. I did have an ok surprise though. It was thin, red, sweet but still nasty! The radiology techs called it "fruitpunch" they lied. Then when I was gagging on the last ounce of it the guy came out and told me that they had another flavor called "Vanilla" I opted for that and it really was vanilla flavored and had a fatty aftertaste. I am calling tomorrow to ask what it was that was fatty about it. I was drinking it thinking that it was fattening cause of the smoothie consistancy. However I am warning you, watch it! I wonder if the "fat" wasn't castor oil in disguise? Yuk! I am telling you though it wasn't nearly as bad as drinking that old thick, flat tasting chalk you used to have to drink. Tuli, got some great pictures of my tummy if you want to post them. ;)

Mike is going to send you that picture of you and Rich and Richie and us at the formal dinner, Rosemary. We took the pictures to my sister's in Seymore Tenn yesterday to try to talk her into going with us on a cruise. We really had a good time. Mike set up his old computer for her so she could have a 'puter to play with at home and we could email each other. :bounce: She cooked us a great lunch. She is making Katie a beautiful afgan and hopes to be finished with it by the time Katie gets here.:D

Take care. Kathy

Hello group,
161 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope that the camping trip went fine Mary for you and crew. Twinave hope that you survived Chuck-E-Cheese. We went and saw panic room today. I liked it, but it did drag in spots. I guess that is why Kathy kind of nodded off ;).

Since we both are a few sunsets older a good dark theater and a tummy full of popcorn kind of does that. I need to coordinate with our neighbors on this grass cutting thing. I cut mine and four days later they cut their's. Makes mine look kind of shabby now:tongue: Whats up with that?

Cathy hope that you and Art put the air conditioner in the bedroom. We keep a small fan running at night, or when Kathy is sleeping. More for the noise than anything else. We were fortunate to have central heat and air installed when my son was small. The only way to fly!!!

Take care and we will catch you tomorrow. Mike

We are back from camping. We had a very nice time. The weather was great! The bugs were awful! They do not seem to care if you have bug spray on or not! So we are all scratching!LOL!But we still have a great time.
TwinAve...GUM SURGERY! YUCK!

Papa...I also saw Panic Room. I agree it did drad i spots, but when that door closed on the guys hand!!!!OMG!!!

Rosemary...thanks for the pictures! They are great!!!I was so nice to see everyone again. Sure wish you were coming with us!

Kathy, endoscopy! NO FUN!!Glaad things turned out fine.

159 days to go!

Twinave, I had some kind of gum surgery a looong time ago for some bone loss in the very front of my lower gum. He just did a gum flap. I remember it smarted for a little while then time healed it and I could eat again. Those same two teeth are loose again cause they are twisted and seem to be twisting a little more each year. The dentist hasn't suggested anything. I just hope they hang in there. I don't want to look like a snaggle toothed hillbilly.:D Not a pretty picture.

Good luck with the surgery and will be thinking of you on May 8th.

Hope everyone else had a good weekend. Take care, Kathy

Relling Twin: Sorry to hear about the bugs, hope you had a good time anyway.
I finally got to see The Magic on Saterday using the camera at Port Canaveral. She is quite impressive!
Kathy, thanks for the kind words re: my upcomeing surgery. I have done a bit of reseach about GTR (guided tissue regeneration) and have heard good thing about the results. Maybe I should bring my before and after x-rays on the cruise. Now there's a conversation starter if I every saw one!:D ;)
Busy week ...training a new Medical Assistant, and getting ready for the big Walk-A-Thon on Sat. We did SO good this year, we raised over $1100. That's total: employee contributions, candy sales, and garage sale money.
Chuck-E-Cheese was great....my second favorit Mouse!
Got to feed the family, meatloaf tonight. Ave
