Mary ...

Are you going to do a Trip Report, like you did for past cruises?

Definately Bruce! Mark is working on it using our "live from" thread there on the DIS like we've done in the past. We wanted to get the new 2008 website up but we'll be adding that as well including the two group pictures (pirate night and on the beach). Hopefully by the weekend.

Good morning everyone! We have a number of updates to the Member Gallery!

Stop by to meet the following:

Mohrt2 (Frank) and his sister Kathy.

OKWMEMBER (Gary) and his wife Gail.

manascarfan (David) and his wife Tanya.

Eeyores#1Fan (Timika) and her family - DH Mace, DD Ahja, DD Jhana, DD Rheya, Sister Gina, and nephew X.

TnRobin - (Robin) and her DH Mike

bunnymkc (Marianne) and her DH Joe.

We also got a few updates to those already in the gallery:

Tinkerbell77 (Tina) sent in a picture of her whole group

Timefordinseynow (Michael) sent in a picture of he and his wife Monika.

PKK/MJK (Mary Jo) updated thier cabin numbers now that it is all straightened out with DCL.

Trishy (Trish) updated her cabin number and let me know that DD Kaila will not be joining them this year. If you can please keep Trish and her family in your thoughts and prayers. They are going through a rough patch right now with a tragedy that happened to close friends of theirs.

Please check your listing and if there are any typos please let me know. Thanks!

And I'll update Page 1 sometime today.

Slept in until 7:30 am this morning - getting ready for work (or volunteer, which is the same once I get there - LOL)

have a great day everyone

I HAVE "JUST ONE" SUGGESTION TO DVC:

HOW NICE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN TO HAVE ALL THAT INFORMATION ON THE LEGENDS AND THAT THEY WOULD BE ONBOARD

BEFORE

WE GOT ONBOARD

we could have had items/books or other items for them to sign that we might have had at home and would have brought with us.

The book in the shop "A to Z" - was gone by the time the 7th cruiser picked it up.

Yep, there were only SEVEN of those books onboard.

just my 2 cents

305 days until the 2008 DVC Member Cruise!!! :yay:

Mary, can we update our picture on the gallery every now and then, like every month?

Did anyone post copies of the Navigators from the last Member Cruise? I was wondering if there was anything going on at Route 66 at night.

Gary - yes we can update your picture whenever you'd like.

As for the navigators. I have a full set. I'll ask Mark if he can scan them and add them to our trip report on the 2007 cruise.

Posting the Navigators from last year would be a great help to first timers like my sister and I. Thank you!!! :thumbsup2

I asked someone working in the giftshop pretty much the same thing. He said they took all the A-Z books out of the WDW warehouse and that was all the supply they had. Seems odd to me, think they would have found a way to get more in.

Not only that, but we were in DTD a day or 2 after the cruise an on the shelf were at least 3 of those A-Z books. Now I know they would like to keep them out for people to buy but I am thinking they could have left 1-2 on the shelf and took the rest. They could have easily brought back the ones that weren't sold.

I ended up buying the really big Imagineer book that cost me about $30, not bad but it wasn't something I was planning for. I only got the chance to have Marty, X and Alice? (the dark haired one whos name escapes me at the moment) sign the book.

Hubby got his hat that was handed out at the Member Sales Pitch Presentation thing signed by Richard, Dave Smith, X, Alice?, Marty and Jim Lewis - lol.

I know I have a lot of time to think about this but--Phil and I have always stayed at OKW the evening before the cruise and taken the bus to the ship. We're thinking that maybe this time we'd drive over on Saturday and stay at a hotel near the port. Any suggestions on the best place to stay? Is this a good idea? Pros/Cons? How does the parking situation work? Price?

We're driving down from Erie so we could use the same information.

We have stayed at Port twice. Both times we have stayed at the Radisson. It was very close to the Terminal. If you get a room on the north side, you can look out your window in the AM and see the Ship. It is a nice enough hotel and it is an easy drive to many of the shops in Cocoa Beach if you need a few forgotten things.

The hard part for me at staying at Port Canaveral is I get up early. So I have to wait "forever" to go to the ship. We usually stay at disney, but drive a rental to Port Canaveral. This way it helps to make the time go a little faster.

We've stayed at the Radisson a couple of times as well. We've never left our car there however.

For the past couple of Member Cruises we've had more DISers staying at WDW than over at the port area so we've done the same and that's where the Saturday afternoon DIS meet comes in. Then in the morning we go to Mass at Mary Queen of the Universe, a quick breakfast at McDonalds and then over to the port. We really took our time this past October and got boarding group 7 but still made it on the ship quickly after boarding started. If we had hustled and not gone back to Boardwalk to pick up our luggage (i.e. packed the car before going over to Mass) we would have easily gotten there before the port opened.

As long as I'm within an hour or two drive of the port on sailing day I'm happy. We've even stayed at Vero before one of our cruises.

I like getting a little dose of Disney before the cruise!

I have also stayed at the Radisson quite a few times.

Very convenient. They are about 2 minutes from the Port.

They take us to the Port starting at 10 am.

On return, they pick us up at the same spot they left us off in.

We leave our car in their lot, well protected, and we don't have the parking fee at the Port.

Rates are very reasonable starting at about $95 p/night. With food, it increases from there.

I would definiitely recommend the Radisson. But there are others close by also, but have never stayed other places.

They also have "online" special rates, when booking.

Have up dated PAGE "1".

Take a look and any changes for anyone, let me know.

Any birthdays, anniversaries or special occasions I will add also.

We have stayed at the Days Inn and probably will this time also. It is 3 miles from the port at most. In fact we were so close to the beach, we just walked down the beach to watch the ships leave, then a walk back. It really got my boys excited. We were right across the street from a Publix too.

It's the Days Inn Cocoa Beach if you are looking online. We did not leave our car there, we just drove (straight shot) to the port and parked our vehicle there.

Well I'm getting ready to hit the sack. In case I didn't mention it before I'm an Air Force Officer stationed at NATO HQ in Belgium. So you'll see me post at what might seem like strange hours.

I'm getting ready to drive down to Disneyland Paris tomorrow with DD. We've been here over a year and haven't made it to DL yet. But after joining DVC last month, I used points to book 2 nights at the Disneyland Hotel. 70 pts per night, but I figure it'll be a one-time splurge.

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving. We're leaving tomorrow, but I'll check back in by the weekend.

I'll also have my friend in 8584 check in. We both joined the DIS last summer before we did the Med cruises on DCL, but I'm not sure if she's been on since. She's been out of town, but is really excited about the cruise also!

Thanks for the hotel information. Regarding the Radisson, what is its complete name--The Radisson Inn at Cocoa Beach? Address? I'd like to look it up and want to be sure I have the correct hotel. They let you leave your car in THEIR parking lot and shuttle you to the ship? WOW!! That's nice. If we parked at the terminal, does anyone remember the daily fee?
