09/21/08 SSMC08 S.S. Member Cruise 2008 - Part 3!

Hey everyone

We got home around 2pm and Manda had to work, but I'm sitting in my pjs catching up on my DVR. I know that it's only 330pm, but Magical Express was at 5am so we had to be up at 3am. Not much sleep. Will fill you guys in on all the fun (including seeing Kamy, Steve and the boys) later.

This is much easier.

We had some bad news yesterday- I am being laid off. 5/15 will be my last day. They are moving our accounting dept to Dallas, I can keep my job if I want to move to Dallas. Not.........

We are still going to cruise, hopefully I will find something, if not you will see a very tan person in October. But I believe all things happen for a reason and we will be ok. I am just mad at how hard I have worked the last few months for nothing.

Sorry to hear that Joanne. Been there, done that. Prayers and pixie dust that you find something that is a perfect fit and in a timely manner.

Hello Dan and Nancy! Dan, thanks for asking about Mack. He is over whatever it was for the most part. He still coughs every now and then, but it is nowhere near what it was. Thanks again for asking.

Joanne - How are the crowds? I know you said it seemed people came out of the woodwork overnight, but it is consistently crowded? As crowded as it has always been?

Kathy - How is Frank?

Glad to hear mack is better,

The spring break crowd is here, usually spring break & Easter are worse than summer. But it's nice to see and the weather is nice. been foggy in the am but sunny by lunch.

Well if you can't find anything as you said you can lay by your pool and get a tan and collect unemployment.

Thanks Mary, but minor compared to what you are going through.

I remember the strain of my first layoff. It was hard. Funny thing is Sears sent out to outplacement training. First thing the guy said to me was "I'm sure this is the hardest thing you've ever faced" in truly kind of a smirky way. My reply - "no, that was when the doctor told me I had cancer". Put him in his place. Still I know how stressful it is and I wish you all the best.

Hi Dan! Yep doing pretty good and get the next week off so I don't face chemo again until the 23rd. It is cold here in Chicago today but should warm up as we get to the weekend.

I don't want to dwell on anything negative, but I thought you should know the whole story. I'm hoping we can put all the nasty stuff behind and move on together. I'm really excited that we are all back together here!

Mimi - sounds like Mack was sick. Sorry I didn't know that. Hope he's feeling better now.

I really miss chatting with all of you so I hope you don't mind me popping in here and chatting. Just didn't feel comfortable doing that much on the BOB thread.

BTW we've done a couple of Eastern cruises so if you have any questions about St. Martin or St. Thomas ask away!

I know I am sooo glad that you will be chatting with us again. I've really missed you!!! I'm sorry that some people were not very nice to you but it's really made me appreciate what a special group we've formed! I hope some of our other SSMC08 pals will drop in as well, now that this thread is moving again!

I'm so sorry Joanne. On the other hand, I know you've been miserable there for a long time and they certainly took advantage of you. Are they giving you any kind of a severance package? And will you be able to collect unemployment?

Summer on the beach sounds ppretty good to me. They will give me two months severance if I stay. They have given us nothing in writing yet so I am waiting to see. I was a little upset on the phone call so I didn't get it all.

I am here too. Yes, the other thread moved way too fast for me to keep up at all. This will work better for me so I think that you WILL hear from me more frequently.

Leisha, I haven't heard anything new other than what they said in the fall and that was the Mickey would be coming in the spring.

Kathy and I went to see the Paul Taylor Dance Company at the City Center in Manhattan. I know someone who knows the executive director and he got us great FREE seats. So we had a good time in the Big Apple.

Frank gald to hear from you. I am glad you all had a great night. I love New York and will miss my trip this year. We are not goign to make it this year because of the wedding. There is always next year. That is a great dance company. Megan did a workshop with them several years ago. Of course she quit dancing after we spent all of that money and started into sports. Tommy is still reminding her of that.

I am so sorry to hear that. If you are interested look on the ADP website and if there is anything you are interested in doing then let me knwo and I will forward your resume. Don't just look in the FL area because we can work remotely from home for most positions. I have been laid off once and it worked out for the best and I am sure it will for you too.

There are about 14 of us and we meet at the Hampton the second weekend in March each year. We have a great time catching up shopping and going out to eat.

The move went well. The new place is great. Todd is good, he says he is breathing easier in the new apartment. ( I suspected the house had mold) His job is doing good.

Our new addition is a Bichon ( he is 4 months old) . We got him after we lost our chow. Going through puppy stage is fun.
