Also meant to note that neither Tom nor I got sick. Probably helped that we relaxed for another 4 days at SSR, before returning to the routine.

BTW - we ran into the Cobblers at Congress Park Pool. Ken, Mandy and kids arrived with their laundry just about the same time Tom was finishing ours. I noticed Ken holding the same helpful "nap" posture I had during the laundry cycle!!

Hello everyone! I have been gone a couple of days and missed the announcement. Looks like I did not miss anything. I can not belive it has been two weeks since the cruise. Thankfully we did not get sick. We went to Gatlinburg TN last weekend with some friends and it was beautiful! We just kept comparing it to CC. We were driving into the mountians with the windows down enjoying the drive. An owl flew into our van and freaked me out. Tommy was laughing hysterically while I was screaming and the bird just sat on the back seat and looked at me like I was out of my mind. It took what seemed like hours to find some place to pull over and let our passenger out. The good thing is that the human and the bird both survived the ordeal. I guess I should be thankful that it was owl and not pooh bear. Have a great day!

Your pictures are wonderful. When I am feeling better I will post ours. I broke down and made a DR appointmnt for this afternoon. I can't remember if I have ever missed two days at work before. I am glad the rest of you didin;t get this.

Lwisha- loved the owl story- I would have had a heart attack.

Joanne - I am glad you are seeing the doctor. I know down here there is a bronchial thing going around that seems to last quite a while. I hope you are on the mend soon!

Finally have our plans in place for 2009. Going to WDW and to visit friends during Flower & Garden show and then trying for SSMC09. Now to figure out what we are doing in 2010.

Another nice Fall day here in Maine. The Leaves are falling and that means in a couple of days I will be doing some raking. Mary I hope you and Mark made it back from the Cruise in good health. I see quit a few people got ill in some fashon. I guess Joanne has a bad cold I haven't heard a word from here in a few days. Nancy and I are all healthy. Over the weekend we went to Mass for a wedding and had a great time.
Im setting here now waiting to hear from my son to see if we are going fishing.

Thanks Dan. Mark and I were kind of middle of the road. We both came back not feeling 100% but it never developed into being really sick. Certainly not as bad as some of the others.

The cold I got onboard turned into bronchitis. I was on antibiotics and codeine cough meds. Thank God for the ER Room in Lake Buena Vista. Once I started on the antibiotics and cough meds I felt much better. If I had been home I would have stalled going to the doc but on vacation you want to feel better as soon as you can.

WOW! Wayne and I aren't the only ones feeling sick. We all have the upper respiratory junk going on. A friend of his did the cruise 2 weeks before we did, and he is just now getting over his cold. I was just thinking that it was going from 90 degree weather to 40 degree weather.

The only one of the kids to get it so far is the baby, but she sleeps in the same room as us.

I was actually shocked that neither of us came home sick. Usually I end up with a major head cold which triggers a cough that is usually with me for months. So needless to say I am thrilled to have not gotten sick on this trip. Of course however we drove this time and did not fly on an airline.

It seems like the ones that came down ill were the one's that went back to the World. I know Joanne and Roger stayed at the Animal Kingdom for couple of days with there kids. We head from her yesterday she is back to work but still not feeling 100%.I told her she needed a Conk Cooler she she would feel better.
Nancy is subbing again today so I guess I will ride to school with her then walk back . That will be a good 3 mile walk.

Dan - cruise ships are known for being carriers since you have so many people in a pretty confined place. That's why you have all the wipes etc. We've gotten sick after a number of our cruises especially when flying home (since airlines tend to have the same problem).

WDW itself can carry tons of germs. Our good friend Dr. Mike who is a pediatrition wrote a great article about a year or so ago about not running your hand down the hand rails at the parks as they are full of germs. Yuck.

Last but not least different people have different levels of immunity at any given time.

I know I got really sick on our way back from Hawaii. Spent what felt like the entire overnight flight coughing.

Gail and I came home healthy. We visited WDW for two days before driving home. Has anyone received mail/e-mail about the 2009 Member Cruise yet? The way they were talking on the Wonder I thought it would be waiting for me when we got home.

We're going back to WDW the week of December 6, 2009 with relatives so we won't be doing the Member Cruise. We are DEFINITELY up for the 2010 cruise.

Thanks for all the well wishes. Well the 12 year old dr I saw told me it was just a cold and it had to run it's course. I have never felt this bad. he did give me sume cough syrup with codine and sudafed. Target is going to think I am making meth since they ask for my drivers license every time I buy a new cold medicine. Nothing has worked.

I actually called in sick for two days and I have never done that. Work is a mess. With month end and no boss and me out- yikes. I guess they are not going to hire us a boss. I am going to get a promotion and have to report to the corporate office in Texas. I am not a ladder climber. The number two position is where I like to be. Number one is not for me but I guess I am lucky to keep a job.

I'm sorry your doc only gave you cough meds. When mine heard I was prone to pneumonia he started me on antibiotics immediately. I think they knocked the germ out right away since by day three I was feeling better. I also took over the counter cough suppressants and Nyquil to help me function. The codeine helped me a lot. It allowed me to sleep without coughing all night. That was like a blessing.

I want to find out if I can book a cruise through an agency (like AAA) and pay the deposit only, then later use my DVC points to pay for part of the trip. DVC tells me the only way to use points is to book through them where you MUST use points for at least one person, then you MUST pay the remainder of the money at booking time. All of it, not just a deposit.

AAA agrees that they can not book the trip for me, then let me use points.

So - is it possible to use points other than through DVC directly where I must pay it all up front? If so, how do you do it?

We have never done both. But I heard that is correct you have to pay cash when you book if you do both. You could just put the deposit down in cash and then when you are ready book the points.

Hi this is Dan .
If you book through the Disney Cruise lines all you have to do is put up down a deposit of $250.00 per person then 75 days out you can change over to points. Thats how Nancy and I are doing it. I hope this helps you Mimi. Remember go straight through Disney Cruise Lines .
