09/21/08 SSMC08 S.S. Member Cruise 2008 - Part 3!

Guess it's my turn to jump in......sounds like lots of people returned from the cruise with colds. Wonder why I didn't!....... Speaking of future member cruises, I would think it would take a huge amount of points to do 7 days. Maybe that's why they don't do it - they need to take in the cash instead of points that have already been paid for........Hope our Red Sox can wrap it it up tonight.....Hello to everyone - miss you all!!!!!

Just looked at all your pictures Ellen. They're great!!!

Maybe a 5 day is the reasonable compromise.

Ok, who saw the info about the 2010 cruises? I did. I would love to do a crossing cruise. That would be fab.

Still looking into that Oct 09 cruise. Thinking hard about it.

Annette :)

We'd love it if you two would go - especially if we go too!!!! :rotfl: We also mentioned it to Kamy and Steve, but I don't know if they will be on it. I hope so! 7 nights are expensive but at least that time of year, they are less!

News today did not do too much to wow me, especially when you look at what the DOW was doing at the same time.

Mark - you brought the hopping bunny back!!!

Yep, figured it's time to own up to what I started. :rotfl:

Wayne, the Kids and I had such a great time on the '08 cruise that we are going to try to book into te '09 cruise. Wayne will just have to have his dialing fingers ready with all the phones we have. I regretfully will be at work.

We better get into the '09 cruise because the kids and I have started our fish extender gifts already. The '08 cruise being our first, I wasn't sure what to do. Now that we have done 1, I now know what to expect.

I sure wish I would have found DIS sooner than I did for the '08 cruise. I would love to know a few days in advance what the events would be on board. I've always been a very organized person and love to know the "plan" for the day. We missed out on a lot of shows and "fun" things because the kids just wanted to stay in the pools. =( Maybe on the "09 I will get to do more of the shows and presentations. I always felt like I was missing something, but just didn't know what.

Like others we bought into BLT. I swore up and down that we wouldn't, but the Disney Magic just hit me and I couldn't help myself. We didn't add on enough to get the cruise, but we did enough to get a 5 day stay at DAKV. I tried talking them into giving us the stay at the tree top villas with the #of points we added on, but they wern't going for that. They said that it would screw up the "charts" they had. I am very excited to get the Mickey sculpture in the mail. Wayne was undecided about adding on now, or when Hawaii opens. I made that decision and said BOTH. LOL. In my opinion, you can never have enough Disney vacation points. I'm trying to talk my in-lays and my best friend into buying into the points so they can vacation with us. =) I think it will be a lot of fun and build up a lot of memories. So now I must change my sig to add BLT.

A wise person told me before the cruise to take an extra suitcase for all the goodies. I wish they would have said 1 extra for every 2 people. With there being 8 of us...........we should have brought about 3-4. LOL the kids were always so excited to see what was left on the bed and what ws in the fish extenders. I was really greatful for all the "tips and tricks" of sailing. They really helped me move all 8 of us along with very little speed bumps.

I wish everyone luck on dial day =) I'll keep my fingers crossed. I just wish there was a way for me to keep in touch with DH while he dials in so I will know the moment it happens. =)

Sending all my Disney love from Wisconsn,
DejnosluvMickey~Stephania

I wonder why exactly the symbol for BLT is the pig???? Anyone know? Not that I'm complaining, but I can see the giraffe with AKL, and the horse with SSR...but the pig is confusing me. Who ever is making them is doing a wonderful job! Courisoty is killing me.

My body is in wisconsin freezing, my mind is still on the beach at castaway cay =)

After much thought, Vikki and I are going to wait to buy in. Even though the incentives were great, but money is the bottom line. Like every one else, we want to see what the offers will be like for Hawaii. After todays announcement, I was disappointed. I was hoping for news about the new ships and Alaska.

Also meant to note that neither Tom nor I got sick. Probably helped that we relaxed for another 4 days at SSR, before returning to the routine.

BTW - we ran into the Cobblers at Congress Park Pool. Ken, Mandy and kids arrived with their laundry just about the same time Tom was finishing ours. I noticed Ken holding the same helpful "nap" posture I had during the laundry cycle!!

"BLT = Bacon, therefore, Pig? Just a guess!"

This is exactly what I was thinking when I first read the question! Too funny!!! :rotfl:

So what did you think about the cruise? I really enjoyed the cruise. This was our first, and surely won't be our last. I loved the overall feel of ease of everything

What did you like?
I loved our table servers, and all the people that were "assigned" to us. George (our head server) and Uros (assistant server) were absolutely awome! Uros was the only person that has ever said our last name correctly. On the last night, abby (the baby) was fussy and didn't want to eat anything. I suggested a grilled cheese sandwich and fries, and magically they appeared. Who would have thought that they would run up to deck 10 and get them for us. I can't remember the name of the guy that cleaned our room, but he was very friendly and helpful with everything. He was great at suggesting things for the kids to do and how to help solve "little" problems.

I liked the days at the island. It was wonderful to see the kids playing on the beach in the sand! I don't think that my kids have gotten along so well in a long time. I have never felt so relaxed on any vacation.
The food was wonderful. I have never eaten so much in all my life.

The rooms on the ship were beautiful. The first night all 6 kids slept in our room. I was surprised there would be enough room for all of them on the floor, but they managed and were comfortable.

The kids clubs were a life saver. My kids didn't want to come back to the room to sleep. All of the councelors were very caring and understanding. One even offered to take the baby for us when she wouldn't stay in the nursery when we were doing the sting ray adventure.

The spa was a relaxing haven! I had my first pedicure on the "Wonder". I was so relaxed that I was almost asleep.

Everyone on the ship was so friendly. Not only the cast, but the people on board.

Anything you didn't like? I didn't like the fact that I wasn't able to plan out each day ahead of time. I am one of those people that plan every minute of every vacation. If I would have known ahead of time what would be available to do on the ship, we would have done a lot more things that I wanted to do after the fact. I don't think it would be too much to ask for DCL to give us a week to know what all would be offered on the cruise. They could have given a lot more updates along the way.

What is your favorite memory? Most of my favorite memories were sitting and watching my kids play and have fun! My kids spent most of the time in the water!

Good morning everyone.

Pig = bacon on the BLT was my guess as well. I guess I'm in the minority but I don't really care for any of those animal icons. Guess you can't please everyone. :rotfl:

Hello everyone! I have been gone a couple of days and missed the announcement. Looks like I did not miss anything. I can not belive it has been two weeks since the cruise. Thankfully we did not get sick. We went to Gatlinburg TN last weekend with some friends and it was beautiful! We just kept comparing it to CC. We were driving into the mountians with the windows down enjoying the drive. An owl flew into our van and freaked me out. :goodvibes Tommy was laughing hysterically :rotfl2: while I was screaming :scared1: and the bird just sat on the back seat and looked at me like I was out of my mind. It took what seemed like hours to find some place to pull over and let our passenger out. The good thing is that the human and the bird both survived the ordeal. I guess I should be thankful that it was owl and not pooh bear. Have a great day!

OMG Leisha, that's hysterical! :lmao: b/t/w, we didn't get sick either. :woohoo:

Greetings from chilly New England. It was 39 degrees when I got up this morning. BRR! I am definitely a summer person and although I do find the foliage beautiful, autumn is a little depressing to me. I guess that is because it means winter is coming and I am not a fan of winter.
I feel pretty lucky that we didn't get sick like so many others. Joanne, I hope you are finally feeling better!!! I miss having someone to walk with.

Ellen,

Your pictures are wonderful. When I am feeling better I will post ours. I broke down and made a DR appointmnt for this afternoon. I can't remember if I have ever missed two days at work before. I am glad the rest of you didin;t get this.

Lwisha- loved the owl story- I would have had a heart attack.

I hope you are feeling better. Let us know what the Dr. said. I was trying to climb on the dash board to get away from it. Tommy was trying to take a picture with his phone. The dumb bird just sat there like it was the most normal thing ever. :confused3 It was something out of a bad movie. I guess I should not have watched the Birds a few weeks ago.

What symptoms do you have? I was sick after the cruise as well. I had to go to the ER Room on 535 in Lake Buena Vista for a severe case of bronchitis. We stayed at OKW until October 4th and both of us were sick. My DH hurt his arm coming into Orlando at the airport. He lifted luggage onto the cart and tore his biceps tendon. That meant we couldn't get off the ship because it would have been too difficult for him to manage. Then I got bronchitis, diarrhea, and then I hurt my back. When we arrived home we had to get people to meet us because we couldn't lift our luggage. We are fine now but DH may have to have surgery to relieve the broken tendon.

Ouch - sorry to hear about all your problems and your DH's possible surgery. Hope all is well soon.
