09/21/08 SSMC08 S.S. Member Cruise 2008 - Part 3!

OK WOW I am away for 2 days and we go to a new thread... That is amazing. I have done nothing yet to get reay for this trip. Well OK I have done a few things, but I haven't packed the first thing. I am still working like a crazy women at work. I will be working right up until Friday... We will probably be one of the last people to head to the port since we live only about 2 hours away. We plan to leave around 8 AM on Sunday. Saturday will be mad packing and house claening day. I am sooooo bad at packing I need to join the PA group.... My husband swears I pack bricks in my suitcase. Well I am off to bed, but safe travels to all that are beginning their trips tomorrow.

Hair is cut, hair is colored, toe nails are polished, finger nails....well 3 out of 4 isn't bad. I've also had very bad, very short fingernails. I don't bite them but I do pick at them. One of my very bad habits. So please don't stare at how nasty they look.

Im taking 4 pairs. Running shoes, pool shoes, dress shoes and beach shoes

Ok, so I was kidding about the shoes. I'm actually only taking walking shoes (wearing down on the plane), dress shoes, flip flops and sandals.

I love your editing system for packing - unfortunately, I had no one here to edit me except the cats, who were not very helpful. So I did have to edit myself but I am finally done.

I'm glad to hear I'm not alone!

Annette usually packs what has been edited also. She is way more organized than myself. But i never let her live down the one time she overpacked the last night of a cruise. I had set my clothes out for the next day after putting on my nightshirt. Needless to say i went on a sight seeing tour of Miami in my nightshirt and tennis shoes.

Only 2nd post, new to this board.

My daughter today met Dan and Nan at Animal Kingdom. She called me and asked if I had ever visited to Dis Boards because she met a couple who were going on the members cruise.

My Mouseketeer works as a mgr at one of the stores around the Tree of Life. Rachel from TN.

So far at least 3 of us are running a relaxing 5k on Mon and again on Wed morning on Castaway Cay. Everyone is welcome to join us.

After the cruise it's back to WDW. Saturday my daughter and I will team up for the Expedition Everest Challenge ( 5k race, obstacle course, scavenger hunt).

HI there. I have read a few pages here and there but this is my first actual post. Have been way too busy with grad school and work to keep up. I was wondering where you run at Castaway. I am going the EE challenge with my younger brother as well and wouldn't mind getting in some running on the island if possible.....thnx

Hi my name is Amanda and I'm also an over-packer. We were editing my clothes tonight. I always put them in a basket then Annette edits what i really need and end up only taking about half of what i originally had.

I have the same problem, with no Annette to fix it!!! Tim has no sense of style, so if I let him pick what I pack, then he will have anything thrown in the suitcase. They will be wrinkled, and not matching! So I just overpack! And Shoes, well, I have 3 pairs packed and 1 I'm wearing...not too bad!

Well its after midnight and we are still up doing stuff around the house that we swear cant wait til we come home! I like coming home to a clean house, and nothing to do! All the laundry is washed, and put away! We leave at 4am tomorrow for the airport!

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah Tip Of The Day

These are my last tips - I hope you have enjoyed them. I have two today both involving checking in at the terminal. They come from my good friend Karen (ohiominnie) who has sailed with us a number of times including on the 2005 Member Cruise. Her comments are in italics.

Tip #1 Make sure that one of the FIRST things you do is get your child(ren)s wristband from the clubs....

I remember hearing the story of a smaller kid who got separated, but they were very easy to get back to mom and dad b/c they had their wristband already on.

Tip #2 If you have linked dining with some other family and are expecting to be at the same table...find them in the terminal and verify that ALL of your KTTW cards have the same dining rotation and, very important, the same table number!

On the 10 day, we didn't look and when we were walking down to dinner we looked at our cards...we were table 25....my parents were table 41 (or something) OOPS!! We went to the check in desk and they were able to get us all at table 41 without a problem, but for a few moments we thought we'd be eating dinner far from my parents!

Remember that if you aren't at the same table you can go to one of the clubs and ask for changes. You should get a paper at check-in which tells you where to go.

Last day of work for me and I've got lots to do. Two meetings this morning and a number of reports that need to be finished before I go.

Mark and I will go out to dinner tonight (a vacation tradition), we'll pack up the car and get to bed early. We're hoping to be on the road around 4 am tomorrow.

I'm jealous! This week is going by soooooo slooooooow. Usually, I am not ready, I have to clean and pack and everything else, I don't have enough time.
