Well, currently I'm a stay at home mom, homeschooling two teenage boys. I just did a stint with the Census Bureau (what a disaster THAT was!) pretty much full time from January through July. It was pretty hard to keep up with the boys schooling and working the crazy hours I was putting in. I think I'd better not try anything full time again until the boys are done with school in about five years. A few years back, the IT guy from the DH's work used to have him call me and ask questions about how to fix issues there. Crazy!

There are many areas of IT, but I think you'd be good at it. It's really not that difficult and you're technically savvy, so you can pick it up pretty quickly.

This is my mother's opinion as well and the reason she keeps pestering me about it. She happened to see the local pc store guy's face when I said I was replacing the motherboard in my laptop. I only heard his comment, "Do you do that sort of thing often".

How does one get started?

Do you like to take things apart and put them back together? You can start off doing Help Desk (tech support). It's usually the first thing IT folks do; unless you're good @ programming/developing.
