09/18/11 - DVCers Take Over the Dream (S.S. Member Cruise 2011) - Thread #9

I just discovered this thread for the Member cruise & am trying to follow, but it's a bit confusing. Seems like everyone is having a bunch of personal conversations which is great, but feeling like an outsider.
This is our first cruise as a family & our first Disney cruise. VERY excited!!!!
We have 2 DD's ages 10 & 12. The 12 year old is looking to chat with other girls her age that are planning on hanging out at the Edge.
Looking for any great ideas and/or suggestions.

My DH & I have been on a few cruises, but they were Carnival. Can't wait to go on the Disney Dream!!!
Anyone know if they have Lactaid milk on the boat or if I can bring some onboard for my lactose intolerant DD?

i believe we are all disney nuts on the disboards. congratulations on your dvc membership. our first disney cruise was last year's member cruise and we are so hooked (we went on the dream back in may and it was awesome).

I would bring some just in case, but call DCL (800) 951-3532
We go to DCL at least 2 times a year , we're going to Epcot and MK,
going to try to check out both places.
WE are ALL Disney nuts!

Welcome!!! Glad you joined us. It's our 1st member cruise but we did sail on the Wonder in 2008. We've sailed other cruiseline but that was along time ago - BC (before children)! Make sure you read the 1st page of the thread, it has some great information.

My name is Junior (A.K.A Julio) and I am the resident sarcastic, gutter minded, happy go lucky poster of the group. On the first couple of pages on this thread (#9) there is a link to a thread set up by a 12 year old girl looking to chat with other people her age. Is she yours? If not then your kids can start there. My wife is Debbie, luckymomoftwo, and this is our third member cruise. Ian is right when he said that you need to bring a bag just to carry all the "freebies" that Disney gives you each night. You might wanna do the ol suitcase in a suitcase thing. Also, post #1 has a lot of info on it so make sure you read it!

Hello, Welcome and glad you found this thread. It is the one I mentioned in response to your post from the board the other day.
You will find the folks here friendly and full of information so do not hesitate to post any questions you may have. Many of them have met from previous cruises or local DISmeets, but all were "outsiders" until they started posting and reading on the boards. Just join in the fun that is getting us through til the cruise. Welcome aboard!

glad to have you onboard! We are trying to break the record for most cruise meet threads, so there is a lot of unmeaningful chitter-chatter on here. If you see a word or phrase that doesn't make sense just ask us or send a private message. Everyone on this thread is SUPER friendly and always willing to help or answer any questions.

All of the important info is listed on the first post of this thread. Most importantly the & game. Every 99th post gets a and every 00th post gets a you can play the game and try to catch up. Lol

I booked Hoop- Dee-Doo during the long wait to open. I had to change one of my earlier reservations around to book this. We have not done it before so I figured we will give it a try. Have to tell Marty though. We have many firsts planned for this trip.

I'm sure you'll love it. It's a blast! We've done it quite a few times and it still never gets old for us. Save room for the strawberry shortcake at the end!

I'm happy today - went to try and get Le Cellier for our Dec trip since it's DS's fav and I actually was able to get a 5:15 reservation! I was hoping for something later since I think that's the day of the Merry Mixer. I just have to convince Tim to go with the Le Cellier reservation instead of the Yachtsman Steakhouse.

Hi Debbie! Started off ok. Got off a bit early from work and was waiting for the grandkids (4 legged variety) to get dropped off. Their owners are going to Universal until Sunday so I've got 4 Golden Retrievers to groom and doggyysit. One of the younger boys was so happy to see me he jumped up on hind legs, wrapped his front paws around my back, pushed his head into me and gave me a hug. It totally caught me off guard and for a moment I thought I was going to lose it completely. It took everything I had to keep my composure. All I could think of was Disney. I miss him. So I started looking through old pictures and found a couple that were taken on a yucky rainy day. the weather was bad but I decided we could have fun in bad weather so I took the dogs out to play ball in the yard. They loved getting wet and chasing a ball of course. So these are after we got done playing. Disney is in my lap in the group shot an of course he had to give me a hug before we went back inside.

These are wonderful pictures, thanks for sharing! My cats don't hug so this makes me want a dog!

Welcome, this is a great group of people and yes very chatty! Just think of how cool it will be when you get on board and you "know" people. I can't wait for that!
