Deb and I are flying down late Tuesday the 13th. We would land at almost 10 PM. I am now thinking about coming down on Sunday the 11th with my DS11 and have some Father/Son time alone in the parks. If I do this, Deb is left with our DD8 who has not a clue of her surroundings because of special needs to a certain extent. Deb thinks it will be a nightmare going through security with her. What should I do? I reserved a rental car last night for the extra three days, thank God cause it doubled today!!! Obviously I would make it as easy as possible for Deb to fly down on Tuesday with luggage. I would take as much as I could when I fly down. Extra cost would be about $500 - $600 (extra car, Tix, airfare) not including food. I think it's worth it. What do you all think?

I think it would be great for you to have the 1 on 1 time with your son BUT I would be concerned about Deb and daughter. What airport do you fly out of? I would leave the call to Deb.

I am totally in if anyone else is! It's been over 20 years since I've gone to a showing!

No point in seeing the movie popcorn:: It's awful :lmao: Without the audience participation, props, a shadow cast and call backs it's not worth it and you lose the whole experience.

There are a few of us who can help :grouphug: I know I am not the only one on this cruise that has actually done the shadow casting for the show. George mrhappycamper has too. I know he and Stacey have been MIA on the boards but I do see them on FB once in a while.

Been there done that, just not sure Disney would allow us to dress like we should be for a shadow cast. I have done a few of the shadow cast parts, and no I'm not telling which ones. :rotfl2:Obviously it was in my skinnier days. We used to go to Lafayette to the theatre on Purdue Campus every Friday night for this. :)

It is a lot but then again the extra father son time and mother daughter time might be worth it. Memories are priceless. I am not sure what her special needs are but is there a way to maybe prep Emilee for the experience? Maybe take her before the trip to the airport, walk around, get some ice cream and then meander up to the security entrance point and show her what it is like and how cool it is that everyone has to take their shoes off even the grown ups. Explain how you only get to go barefoot through the neat "doorway to a dream vacation" if you have a special ticket and would she like to have a special ticket next time, so she and mommy can go through the "dream door way." If she says yes, have daddy give her and mommy a "coupon" with a date for when she can get the special ticket. Maybe make a countdown calendar as a reminder to when she can use her special ticket with mommy or something like that? I dunno if that would be helpful? Just a thought :goodvibes

LOL :lmao: No I don't think it will follow the family atmosphere at all :rotfl2: Oh come on! You're going to keep us guessing! :rotfl: Fine then I'm not telling either :snooty:

We always fly Southwest outa Midway. I never thought security there was that big of a deal. The real Problem is Deb gets frazzled really easily and can't handle the "stress" of the process when the kids don't do exactly what is needed. Other than that it would be fine. Emilee is in her own little world and I can understand Deb's side. I would take Em with me but then Brandon and I couldn't ride the rides and that would defeat the purpose.

You forgot to mention that I get frazzled and stressed really easy when we're in a VERY BUSY atmosphere such as an airport where she could take off in a split second and I'd lose track of her. The thought of keeping track of luggage and her just scares me. So, as long as we can pack light (HAHA!!! Yeah right!) and Junior can take most of the luggage with him and Brandon then I SHOULD be fine. *Sigh*

Terrie - that was some really good advice! I like the special ticket and coupon ideas! She has been to the airport at least half a dozen times so she's familiar with the whole process, but like Junior said, she's just in her own little world most of the time and doesn't pay attention to her surroundings very well. She walks into people all the time. One time I almost got into a fight with a couple at the check in counter because they placed their hands on her and moved her away from them. I almost LOST it! I ALMOST asked the lady at the counter to call security....I just couldn't believe they did that!

I think it would be stressful if you were trying to deal with a lot of carry-ons. But, if Deb only had to deal with just one bag and the shoes (easy ones that slip on and off - for airports, ONLY, I do crocs with socks), it would be much easier.

Ack, rental cars are expensive. I'm working the codes for different trips and companies. They are all spendy.
