All of these recipes sound really good. Those Disney chefs got nothing on you guys. Do you think we can get them to try these on our cruise?

We can storm Remy's kitchen and demand the fancy chef cook us breakfast sandwiches. pirate:

We have a FRENCH FRIES truck along the WELLAND CANAL that sells fast food. The owner is from NFLD. She calls FRIES with turkey dressing and gravy Newfy fries.

OMG!! That sounds sooooo good!! One of the best things I ever ate was fish and chips from a Chinese restaurant in Durham, England (I know right, fish and chips from a Chinese restaurant). Anyway, I ordered them and the nice lady behind the counter asked me what kind of gravy I wanted. Well, errrr, I've never had gravy on my fish and chips. So, she says everyone who orders fish and chips in her store orders gravy for the chips. So, I decide while in ... errr ... Durham ... I'll do as the ... Durhamians (?) do.

So, I asked what kinds she had. She names them off and among the options was CURRY GRAVY. Curry gravy? I've never heard of that either. What the heck, let's go big and order the fish and chips with the curry gravy. Holey carp! Seriously, my mouth is watering just remembering those chips with the curry gravy on them. And that was five YEARS ago. I've vowed to go back to that same shop next time I get over there. I don't even know the name of the place, but it's right down the street from the Queens Head Pub where we stayed.

Hey, tomorrow is my book club. We are supposed to come with ideas for books to read over the next year. Anyone have any recommendations?

Just finished reading Juliet. It was the book club book from the podcast thread. Don't remember who wrote it though. It's about someone in current time that is supposedly related to the Juliet from Romeo & Juliet. There is a good synopsis on the podcast thread.

I always wanted to open a restaurant called The Hill-Billy Cafe where I would serve these type of concoctions plus many more I've come up with and others I've seen. A place where people could come in and get all the weird things they love to eat and not be judged a crazy person for doing so. We would embrace each persons idiosincrocys and even put the real good ones on the menu.

I wish I could be a better help with that but I don't read that much. I read 4 books last year, Liberty and Tyranny by Mark Levin, Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kyosaki, another Kyosaki book I can't remember and Decision Points by George W. Bush. Out of those I would recommend Rich Dad Poor Dad and Decision Points. The former is about Robert as a kid learning from two dads, his real dad and his best friend's dad, how to work in life to become rich. It's very eye opening. The latter was written by Bush in a way that shows yoiu from his perspective how he made the decisions he made. It's a fascinating read. It's more of a history lesson than a memoir. Not just the history of his administration but when talks about what happened in the treaty room in his administration he also gives the history behind why it's called the treaty room and a detailed description of it. He does this a lot with the White House and other locals. It was a great read.

I don't know what kind of books you guys read but I usually don't read fiction.

i dont think so unless your gas goes way up. It usually costs me $74 to fill up my ford escape. Today in buffalo at $3.72 a gallon it cost us $53.00 to fill up. Oh by the way we made it to main st to try lake effect diner for my birthday. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm good.

$4.09 over here in Chicagoland! :scared1:

Junior!

Just finished reading Decision Points as well. I really liked it. Made me look at things a heck of a lot differently. I would recommend this book.

You sound like me. Laura makes faces and asks me how can i ruin my food that way. I always say it ends up in my stomach, its my food and i like to try different things. How do you think all foods get put together, somebuddy trying something new!:rotfl2:

Well back outside i go to do yard work and start working on my DIET:rotfl2: Supposed to go up to 70 on mon. Getting pool ready to open soon. Oh and i will have my Rum and whatever i mix with it, out with me to help make the work easier :rotfl2:

I'm starting mine tomorrow :thumbsup2
Gotta make some room in my belly for ALL that delicious FOOD!!! :woohoo:

Hmmm ... this would help make room in someone's belly side effects aren't too pleasant though...

Ok on thread 4 I believe your wife offered to hold you down while I beat you senceless... yep that should about do it....

Offer still stands if he insists on proceeding with this lunacy

I know we have similar tastes in books :rolleyes1 if your book club does too then I'd highly recommend starting the Psy Changeling series by Nalini Singh. Over the last year or so, I've been on a total Paranormal Romance/Urban Fantasy kick and haven't been reading much else except that genre. If your looking for more mainstream The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins while marketed as YA was really good and I thoroughly enjoyed it. If you haven't already read it, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo sereis by Stieg Larsson was really good too.

Hi TERRIE, just thought id mention, its sunny and in the 50s here. I have my shorts and short sleeves on. Working around pool area. Going to go for a ride with top down in the MIATA with the radio blasting out ROCK music.:cool1:

Sounds a bit like Toby Keith's Bar & Grill in Vegas. Excellent fried bologna sandwiches and deep fried twinkies with lots of whipped cream and other unusual items on the menu.

Supposed to be in the 70's here today but it just reached 60. DH thatched the lawn this morning and is mowing and bagging now. I vacuumed my car and swept the driveway and I'm pooped. Guess I really need to get back on the diet. :)

Down here in southeast Texas it may hit 90 degrees. Thank heaven for air conditioning. Watching the Masters golf tourney on TV. There is not many things better than watching the Masters except being at Disney and watching it. Maybe next year.

Same here! Aside from the history and politics of the book, it was really funny! One of my favorite lines was when he was running the marathon and ran by his mom and she said "Hurry up! There's a couple fat people ahead of you!". :rotfl: Then you put into context that his mom was a former First Lady and it make it even funnier.

Loved the book!

How about Hoosier Hill-Billy Cafe :cool1:
