Ginny
I was going to but forgot! LOL. Just went online and booked our cabana on Serenity Bay for the first Castaway Cay day. We are so excited!
-----------
Back in the 90's, President Clinton made a quiet stop at our town in New Hampshire. Air Force One flew to not much fanfare. I had seen a small piece in the local newspaper, so I kept my girls out of school and drove over to the very small local airport where he was scheduled to land. I hoped we might be able to drive up near the airport and perhaps catch a glimpse of the plane.
Well, we were so excited to find out that we would be able to actually approach the fenced area and view the plane. Then we discovered we would be able to get close and maybe even see the President as he returned from his day in NH. The Secret Service set up portable metal detectors for everyone to walk thru, and searched the more colorful characters that had shown up, such as the Elvis impersonator, LOL!
We held our breath as the President arrived in his limo (from wherever he had been that day) and started approaching the fence where the small crowd of us were lined up. I saw him coming, he shook my girls hands with a nice smile and as he made eye contact with me, I blurted out, "Would you please sign my 7-Eleven Coffee cup?" He replied "Sorry Ma'am but I am not able to do that, thank you for asking.." We shook hands and he continued down the line.
As he finished the row of handshakes and turned to walk back to board Air Force One, he motioned a Secret Service agent to his side and spoke quietly to him. The President then pointed at me...and the agent came sprinting over towards the fence and towards me. He said "Mr. President would very much like to sign your 7-Eleven coffee cup, may I have it for a minute?" I held my breath as he took it, and the pen I had with me and ran back to him. I am the proud owner of a disposable coffee cup signed "Bill Clinton"...
I am honored to have had this experience, and so happy my girls were able to actually meet a U.S. President and shake hands. Nothing to do with political beliefs, everything to do with patriotism...
