09/18/11 - DVCers Take Over the Dream (S.S. Member Cruise 2011) - Thread #4

I don't want my DSiL & her hubby to have to worry about FOUR kids 11, 8, 4 & 1 years old...getting through checking bags, security, and then finding the terminal. :scared1::scared1::scared1:

Yikes! That is a lot. How are they planning on getting to the airport now?

Hello everyone. I'm pretty new to this posting thing. Seems addictive...and fun! Anyway, I was wondering how do I know if I've been added to the list for DVC Member's Cruise and the fish extender project. I don't get online very often and I assume there is a way to figure it out without reading through every post. Thanks a lot and can't wait to meet some of you on the ship!
:welcome: Read and post at will. This is a pretty good bunch of people, IMO. I have fun.

It is actually quite simple. Go to the first page of the thread, and you can see who to contact for what things in which you might wish to participate. Send those people a PM and they will let you know what they need from you, if the info necessary is not already posted on the first page.

Hi! Yes, posting on here can get addicting! LOL I'm on here quite often, sometimes lurking, sometimes posting.

You are on the Fish Extender list. I send out emails periodically when there is a new participant. Check to see if you've gotten an email from me (SSMemberCruise2011@Yahoo.com). Also, to get added to the member cruise website, here is the info (which can also be found in the first post of this thread):

If you would like to be included in the gallery on the website, please send the following info to:

member2011@hutsellhobbies.com
•Dis name of anyone in your party that has one.(We want at least one person from each group to be an active Dis member)
•Real names of eveyone in your party and relationship(husband, wife, daughter, etc..)
•Cabin number (optional)
•Birthdays of everyone in your party (so we can celebrate on the thread)
•Anniversary date (so we can celebrate on the thread)
•Year you bought into DVC and where you own
•Early/late dining seating
•Show seating time (new for the Dream)
•Button? yes or no (specify who is getting one) This is in case we get someone to make buttons
•Photo (.jpg or .gif please so we can get to 'meet' you and your family)(optional)

Hey Debbie!

Jim and I are on the list for FE, right??? I haven't received any emails at all about it. Just wondering. Also, what is this website gallery thing??? Not sure if I am on that either. Let me know!!!:confused3

Not working for me either. I'm guessing it's one of the videos from Passporter though ... http://www.youtube.com/user/PassPorterGuides . Click on the "uploads" link on the right to see a list of all their videos, including all the new ones from the Dream!

I think this link is the same youtube video. The title is 'Disney Dream - Family Oceanview Stateroom (#7512 - cat. 8C), Large Porthole, Round Tub'.

Thanks Karen and Michael,
Watched them both. I'll have to watch some others later. PassPorters seems to do a good job presenting still photos and panning/zooming around them. And they tie related subject matter together well. Great way to get acquainted with the ship.

Yikes! That is a lot. How are they planning on getting to the airport now?

Junior was talking about both of us renting a car when we arrive on the 14th and then he would drive back to the airport with them and they would turn their car in and he would drive back to the Port. Right now it all just seems so complicated. I think it might be worth hiring private transportation for them....but we'll see. It's only 7 months away so I think we need to start getting serious about making the arrangements!!!

There's a great trip report in progress at http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2650672 . Lots of really detailed pictures. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Thanks! I am hooked on that trip report!

Kelly you're not on the FE list....:scared1: Please email me at SSMemberCruise2011@Yahoo.com with your stateroom number and Lilly's age. It's just the three of you, right?

The website gallery thing is part of a really neat website that Milford (DisRailFan) has put together for us. If you email him (member2011@hutsellhobbies.com) with all of this info he'll add you:
•Dis name of anyone in your party that has one.(We want at least one person from each group to be an active Dis member)
•Real names of eveyone in your party and relationship(husband, wife, daughter, etc..)

Oh, yeah. I almost forgot. I couldn't get his nose wiggling in this one, but he was quite interested in something...

Just keep in mind that if you are there during the holiday, you may not get to see Remy.

We were there over Thanksgiving holiday and they did not bring him out even when we inquired. I think it was just too busy and packed with so many people.

Just keep that in mind if you bring your grandkids.

My kids still had a wonderful time. The service was great and we couldn't have asked for a better server. He was wonderful with the kids and my DD (7) seemed to have a little crush for him by the end of the night. :lovestruc

Well, I have figured out why this apartment comes with an iron and board.

Seems their wonderful little washer/dryer unit (one box, not the stacked dryer over washer like at WDW) does an excellent job at creasing clothes. I mean these creases are twice as bad as when you unpack your suitcase. After ironing these nearly permanent creases, I managed to get my pants back to the way they look when they come out of the dryer at home. I doubt if they will ever be right again. Not to mention it takes an hour to wash and two hours to dry.

Oh, and I've used ironing boards before. They were old and clunky, and I always kinda wished I had a modern lightweight one. As it turns out, heavier is better. My pants, with one leg hanging off the edge nearly topples the board and hot iron :scared:

:lmao::lmao: Got a good laugh reading this one as I pictured the scene.

I took Paul (DS16 - Grumpy) for his camp staff interview tonight. He was staff-in-training at this camp last summer for two weeks. They snagged his application out of the pile and grabbed him from the waiting room. I guess the interview went something like this:

Interviewer: We have a pile of these to do. So, we'll do this fast. <asksfourquestionsinasuperfastmanner>

Paul: <answersfourquestionssuperfast>

Interviewer: Ok, you're hired. Get out.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

They called him last week to make sure he was going to show up for interview night. So, I knew he was almost certainly going to get the job.

This means he'll be gone most of July and August. :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Of course, this means I'll have to take care of his new kitten while he's gone. :confused3 Maybe I'll make him pay his brother to kitten sit.

Karen - Congrats to Paul on the camp job!!!! :thumbsup2

And, yes I think it would be a great idea to have him pay his brother to kitten sit. Great life lesson for both of them. Brother has responsibility to care for kitten and Paul has to pay for the service. :thumbsup2

It might even have the added benefit of keeping the brother from wanting his own pet! :thumbsup2

That does sound complicated! It may be easier to get them private transportation and a nice tip for a skycap. The skycap at MCO was the best money we spent in 2008. We had a ton of baggage and he took us right where we needed to go. He made check in super easy for us. :thumbsup2

Thanks! I think so too. Kyle cat sits for a friend of mine when she goes out of town. So, I'm not sure we could convince him to cat sit for his brother without paying him a little something.

 Well, he already has his four rats that are his responsibility alone. Plus, the puppy (who is really a "family dog") latched on to him and he to the puppy, so he ends up having the most responsibility for him. He's my animal lover.

FOUR RATS!!! :scared::scared::scared:

If it's not REMY, no thanks!!! When I was growing up, I had an aunt that had mice. It was sort of creepy when I spent the night. I was so afraid one would get out of its cage. :scared1:

Karen - I read your post and forgot to send congrats to Paul on the camp job! That sounds like it was the easiest interview ever!

:rotfl2: They are actually surprisingly nice pets. I never would have thought so. They're kind of like tiny dogs that you keep in a cage. They know their names and will sit with you and hang out.
