We made it we were one of the last flights out of new York!! We beat the snow! By the way I might be able to get some pics inside the Dream next week. I'll post them if I can.

Lucky Mickey, good job and would love to see pics if you can. Have a great time!

Andy, I guess the good part is all your hydrants remain accessible and you learn exactly where each one is. But I can't help but think how much additional (volunteer) work that must be. Around here, as far as I know, it is the property owner's responsibility to clean around the fire hydrants, but sadly I bet less than one in ten people do.

Hey as long as we're talking fire hydrants and dogs ... no I won't go there. But what are you thoughts on the color of hydrants? I believe the yellow stands out better than the red. But some areas are allowed to brighten up the neighborhood by artistically painting them. It's kinda like the animal sculptures some cities have. Do you all know where each hydrant is located well enough that color doesn't really matter? I tend to think that they are sometimes hard to find because I have seen them marked with blue reflectors imbedded in the pavement (esp southern states), and with reflectorized fiberglass rods (esp in the snow belt).

We know where almost every hydrant is just based off of the general pattern they use in placement, alternating corners, mid block on the odd # side, etc. In addition, we have both paper map books in every vehicle and computerized map systems that indicate the hydrant locations on the map. As far as color goes, any of the standard colors are about the same. The National Fire Protection Association has guidelines on coloring of the caps and barrels based upon water main size and amount of water available but generally that is not followed too much. Personally, I prefer the caps be painted a light color with a reflective paint. That will suffice for us to find it quickly since we already know the general area from the maps.

IMDB says it should be released in 2011, but it's still listed in pre-production. So, I doubt it will be this year, but I suppose it's possible. :confused3

I happened to catch this tidbit this evening ... :scared1:

So, no complaining from you about the weather, you hear?!?! ;)

I'll keep my eyes peeled for previews. Not complaining ... yet :rolleyes1

We all know that Florida has snow all year round, Snow White that is. So that would put snow into all 50 states which I agree is very cool.

YAY! Florida gets the best kind of "Snow"

Whew! That's good news! Have fun!!!!

Happy Wednesday from a very snowy Jersey!! It's been a crazy week with all of this snow - but it's really pretty this morning - Blue sky, sun and snow just everywhere!

Mick, so glad that you got out before the crunch yesterday - I was thinking about you as the first flurries started!

Have lots of fun down there!! Wish I was joining you . . . but September will have to do! :)

Just my luck - it's a snowy morning and I have time to kill - and no one else is around!

I guess I might as well go do one of my favorite chores - laundry! :laundy:

Our dog must have the same map, she knows where all the fire hydrants are too.
