09/18/11 - DVCers Take Over the Dream (S.S. Member Cruise 2011) - Thread #4

It's only on select nights, but you get entrance into MK @ 4PM. At 7PM, the party really starts and they start "kicking" people without a party ticket out. For the price of the ticket, you get 1)short lines for rides (since they only have party goers there), 2)trick-or-treat stations, 3)Best Parade (hands down), and 4)Best Fireworks (hands down), oh and you can dress up too . We've gone on Halloween Day every year, and it's AWESOME!!!

Kelly, Did I mention that it's AWESOME? IMHO, it's the best party WDW has; better than the Christmas Party and better than the now defunct Princess & Pirate Party.

SADLY WE ARE HOME FROM FLORIDA. HAD A BUMPY FLIGHT HOME. NO SNOW HERE ALL MELTED BUT THERE IS SOME BLACK ICE. I WILL POST SOME PHOTOS WHEN I DOWNLOAD THEM. BOTH DUDLEYS STAYED IN FLORIDA. I GAVE CRUISE DUDLEY TO A COUPLE WHO SAT BESIDE US ON THE CELEBRITY. IT WAS THEIR FIRST CRUISE. SADLY HE HAS BONE CANCER AND THEY ARE TRYING TO DO AS MUCH AS THEY CAN. I GAVE DISNEY DUDLEY TO ONE OF THE LADIES WHO WORKS IN THE BELL HOP SERVICES AT OKW. IVE TALKED TO HER A FEW TIMES. I WENT AROUND GIVING PHOTOS TO CMs WHO HAD THEIR PICTURE TAKEN WITH DUDLEY IN DEC. WE REALLY ENJOYED THE NEW LIGHT SHOW ON THE CASTLE BEFORE THE FIREWORKS. ITS AMAZING IF YOU STAND RIGHT UP CLOSE!

I was just thinking.....

Will MNSSHP be going on while we are down there in September??? I know most of us will be staying on after the cruise. Is there a chance we could actually go and see it and take part??? Not sure what the dates/hours are. Anyone know?? I am soooo doing it, if we can!!

The way MK are scheduled right now, the party should be the Friday evening after the cruise. That's when we are planning on going. Last year the parties were on Thursdays and Tuesdays (I think) in September. They can still change the hours/schedules/party days, but for now you can pencil in MNSSHP for 9/23.

I second that, with a slight change to #4. The fireworks are very close to the actual Best Fireworks (hands down) which is Disneyland's Remember ... Dreams Come True fireworks.

MNSSHP's fireworks are still awesome and really much better than Wishes, IMO.

Is the castle show right before the fireworks? I'm trying to figure out how to do MSEP, the Fireworks and the new show. I think we are going to do the Wishes Dessert Party on one night and the MSEP on another night. Trying to figure out if we are going to try to do MSEP and the new castle show on the same night now. Oh the planning!!

DID I MENTION IN ST THOMAS LAURA BOUGHT A $1600 BRACELET. AFTER SPENDING THE DAY AT MAGANS BAY WE GOT DROPPED OFF DOWNTOWN. SO WE WALKED THRU THE MANY SHOPS. WE WERE LOOKING AT BRACELETS, AND THE LONGER WE LOOKED AT THIS ONE THE MORE WE WERE SURE WE WERE BUYING IT. SOOOOOOOOO I ASKED FOR A RM DRINK. THE CLOSER WE GOT TO BUYING IT THE MORE I HAD TO DRINK. WELL THEY NOW HAD GIVEN ME 4 GLASSES OF STRAIGHT RUM AND ICE. THE BRACELET WAS BOUGHT, SO WE HAD 20 MIN TO KILL WHILE THEY GOT IT READY. SOOOOOOOO WE WALKED THE AROUND THE SHOPS , RUM IN HAND. THEN WHAM! I GOT A BIG BUZZ , THE RUM KICKED IN. HAVENT BEEN LIKE THAT IN 30 YEARS. I COULDNT STOP LAUGHING ETC. LAURA WAS HANGING ONTO ME. WE GOT BACK TO THE SHIP SOMEHOW. I DONT SEEM TO REMEMBER BOARDING THE SHIP. I MISSED SUPPER BUT WAS FINE IN THE EVENING. NO HEADACHE EITHER. LATER THAT NIGHT WE WENT TO PLAY THE SLOTS AGAIN. WE USUALLY PUT ASIDE $20 EACH PER DAY TO LOSE. LAURA SAT DOWN ON ONE OF THE PENNY SLOTS WE LIKED. WHEN I CAME AROUND TO WHERE SHE WAS PLAYING SHE WAVED $4500 IN HER HAND SHE WON ON A 30 CENT BET . NEXT DAY I WON $800 SAME MACHINE. NEEDLESS TO SAY IT PAID FOR THE BRACELET AND THE MANY DISNEY PINS I BOUGHT WELL OFF TO BED JUST GOT HOME.

Well, it's been SNOWING here all day long. This may be the third time we've had snow this winter. Very late snowfall here. All the bulbs were already coming up. Hoping this doesn't kill our spring flowers!

So, since I've been freezing my toes off today, I decided to work on my trip plans and went ahead and booked the Poly for two nights after the cruise. (Yoohoo, Andy!!) I was leaning that way already. I thought about renting some points for BLT, but I think we'll have more space at the Poly. I also thought about booking BCV or just a room at BC. But, as my brilliant DS16 pointed out, if we want an awesome pool, we can just go to a water park.

I may miss the hot tub though. Hmmmm, can you still pool hop to another resort (excluding the restricted ones) as a DVC member if you aren't staying on points? I'll have to look that one up. We probably wouldn't anyway. But, it's nice to know if we have options or not.

Oh, I also booked Portofino Bay at Universal this morning for our first two nights (preWDW, preDCL). Using the AAA discount, it was the same price as the Royal Pacific. Now, if the prices drop at Royal Pacific, I may switch.

Now I just need my Southwest flight rewards to post and then I can book our airfare!!

I saw pictures of all 3/4 of an inch that fell there in Portland. I almost felt sorry that everybody got a snow day there. NOT!

IM GOING TO BED BUT I WILL RESPOND TO THIS FIRST WE DID ALL 3 SAME NIGHT. THEY HAD THE PARADE AT 7pm THE MEMORIES ON THE CASTLE ABOUT 745 THEN WISHES AT 8PM AND PARADE AGAIN AT 9PM. I WOULD SUGGEST STANDING RIGHT INFRONT OF CASTLE FOR THE MEMORIES ON CASTLE BUT MOVE BACK A BIT FOR FIREWORKS. YOU CANT SEE ALL THE FIREWORKS FROM THAT CLOSE TO CASTLE. THE NEXT NIGHT WE DID FANTASMIC AT 730pm AND TOOK BOAT TO EPCOT AND CAUGHT ILLUMINATIONS AT 9PM ON SAME NIGHT. HAD TO WALK FAST
