Lilly has surgery in the morning. So I will probably not get much sleep. The doctor says it is worse on the parents than it is on the child. It is just a simple surgery, but still, a parent worries.:lovestruc:littleangel:
As somebody who has had far more than his fair share of surgeries, I can pretty much agree with them. As long as the parents communicate with the child and let her know how very much she is loved, she will be fine. What is she having done?

She has something called a "trigger thumb". Her right thumb basically doesn't straighten. It is easily correctable and common in children. It needs surgery though, basically because of future use of Lilly's hand. Fine motor will be hard for her if not corrected, etc.... Doc says only about a 10-15 minute surgery, but she will be out for it. Not too keen on my two year old being gassed. Oh well, I am sure it will go well. Wish us luck.:worship:

So consensus is maybe the DCL cruise I mentioned earlier may be a bit expensive for the three day. Maybe I should just book at WDW for a few days instead of cruise. It's just....my husband is beginning to think I am a freak with the whole Disney Planning bit. He doesn't understand people like you and me. Ya know? I told him it is a sickness, but he says we need to quit going to Disney so much!!!!!! :scared1: I know, I know!!! GASP!!! Please don't hold this against him. Anyway, looks like I might be cancelling the cruise. :confused3

So you're going to Disney either way. Then the question is to take a short Disney cruise or stay onsite. Subtract from the price of the cruise and transportation to the ship: The cost of tickets to the parks and the cost of food there. This will be how much more the cruise will cost over the park.

Now is the cruise worth that much? The boat does offer both more character interaction and more husband/wife alone time.

I know, I didn't answer anything for you. But maybe it helps a little?

Here's wishing you good luck and prayers for a quick recovery. Our daughter had eye surgery on both eyes to correct lazy, wandering eyes. One operation at 3 and the other at 4. Kids are so resilient. She bounced back so quickly, we parents, not so much. Her vision is perfect. I know the corrective surgery for your daughter will go well too.:thumbsup2

Hmmmm...you've given me a bit to think about. We are AP holders, so that wouldn't be an issue. And I know there is availability. I guess I will just wait and see. I like your idea about that website, though. Would love if that came through.

Thanks so much. The waiting will be the worst part. I just don't want her to think we are leaving her or allowing the doctors to hurt her. She is only two and I am afraid she won't understand. I am happy to hear your daughter is doing well. You know how it feels.:cutie:

By the way....where is Fulshear, TX? I have family from Texas. All over Texas, actually.

Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. :grouphug:

They let us stay with her until she was out, so we were the last thing she saw. We were there when she woke up, so we were the first thing she saw afterward. They also let her keep a personal item with her. Hopefully you will be able to do the same. It certainly made it easier for my wife.

They have much better things than gas these days. Don't know if they will use it, but they do have some amazing stuff! I had my first surgeries long before I can remember, but I do remember getting my tonsils out when I was 2-1/2. they did use gas for that, and I can even remember my dream. I also know that when I was in first grade, I had had 12 surgeries that I knew of. Maybe more. I was put under for every one of them, and that was a LONG time ago. The technology today is much better, and far more controllable than it was back then. Let us know how it goes! Give her a hug from me.

That is awesome! I hope that they will let Kelly do that too!

You gotta do what you gotta do. She needs this surgery for the reason you mentioned. Since it is fairly routine, short, and inobtrusive you shouldn't worry too much. I expect to see fully functioning thumb in 10 months.
Best Wishes and sleep well!

Good luck with the Lilly's surgery tomorrow. :wizard:

HallsofVA has finished labeling the rest of the starboard side of the ship ...

I just added this to the 1st post. Please let me know whether you prefer the black (top) or white (bottom) label version:

What a great procedure for kids! I hope all hospitals have caught onto this by now.

Been through a few surgeries myself and getting gassed up was the BEST part. Never slept better :3dglasses

OMG ... did you have to repeat first grade ... you must have missed a lot of it, plus the recouperation time and re-adjustment.
