09/18/11 - DVCers Take Over the Dream (S.S. Member Cruise 2011) - Thread #12

Did anyone here know others before this cruise besides Milford/Shawn, Junior/Debbie, and Wally/Terrie (and of course the 3 Potter families joining us for the first time)?

I think the other thread mistook us for all knowing each other so well simply because that's what we're trying to do. I made myself a cheat sheet so that I could learn everyone's names. And I would feel funny greeting someone on the ship with, "Hi DeerNuts" rather than Sparky (aka Ian).

Of course some of us chose names that would work either way (W@LL-E and Hoosier John for example)

Not that I know of.

It has been Houston Restaurant Weeks all of August. Each participating establishment provides a 3 or 4 course meal and donates 5 bucks to the Houston Food Bank. to help feed those in need. The special price is $35 for dinner at all the restaurants. We are supporting this worthy cause for the 6th time on this the final night:thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 Way to go!

We tried several places for the first time and enjoyed them all. Our favorite is called Max's Wine Dive. Great "fancy" comfort food like Max and cheese, butter milk fried chicken and huge chocolate chip cookies paired with great wines:thumbsup2

Mmmm ... Everyone loves fried chicken! I hope the idea catches on up here.

We will be heading out to support the food bank by eating in about 25 minutes so if the pace of posting does not pick up, then good luck to those hunting :bride:'s and pirate:'s

Have a good supper. After I run errands I'll probably p/up a salad at Mickey D's. Tim has bowling tonight so I'm on my own! :thumbsup2

Did not and still do not know anyone on this thread, but looking very forward to meeting all. This thread has made me feel like I will be visiting with friends:thumbsup2

And I think that is Mr. Deernuts:lmao::lmao:

 Somewhere along the way I noted that someone called him Sparky, but now I can't remember the story.

I agree. I think those who didn't post a picture on the website should wear name tags with their disboard names on them so we will know who they are.

When we have more time, we should run the count up to about xx96 and stop. That would drive the lurkers simply nuts, hitting refresh ... refresh ... refresh ...
