Wow...everyone here has been very busy...

I would be in jail if I lived in Kentucky....no doubt about it. We have pulled our kids out of school for the last 5 years to go on the cruise at various times in Sept, Oct and November. November became a hassle, as DH and DD work retail, so they were having an issue getting the time off.

Oldest starts sophmore year in College Tuesday and will leave with us for the cruise the next week on Thursday. She never gave it a second thought when we planned this, they know they have to play catch up...but don't we all after vacation? Our motto...what does not kill you makes you stronger- we simply live by that rule. I do get a hassle evey year from the schools about missing time for vacation, but our family time is too important for us to give up and try to vacation only in the summer when I can't always leave work for very long. So I sooooo would be in jail if I had to follow those rules.

Tara is 11 she has cell and ipod...the ipod was mine a prize from work, and we bought Bonnie a video Ipod for her 16th birthday. They all love their ipods as they do have much of the same music, but some different wants.

It is a very cool thing for the kids.....Apple store employees are HUGE SNOBS, I try to buy at Wal Mart if I can....DH gets his discount on Apple stuff also

School started today, I am not sure who was sadder the girls or me...I love having them under foot......and we all love the summer so much...it is so sad to see it end.
:guilty:
Have fun today eveyone...I must get some work done

I have a question regarding Pirates of the Carribean night....is anyone going to dress up in pirate attire....or should I leave it at home.

S pirate: Yo ho Yo ho a pirate's life for me!

DD and I are dressing up. That is, we are if my costum makes it here in time. Believe it or not, I just placed my third order. The first one I ordered, the place e-mailed me a week later and said they were out of stock and would not be getting that particular suit back in. I think found a second one and placed that order on 08/16. I had not heard from them and so I started e-mailing Monday. Noone responded. I called yesterday and they said they could not find my order. I e-mailed them a copy of my confirmation I had received and they apologized but said that they were out of stock and would not be able to the fill the order before the cruise. Yesterday, I placed a third order for a pirate costum for me. They assured me that they had it in stock and ready to ship. I paid extra to have it shipped 3 day preferred. I am suppose to get it Tuesday (because of the holiday). Keep your fingers crossed.

I guess the new airline restrictions have put a cabosh on our "bring your own regional" wine and cheese party. I was looking at one of the menus, I think it was Animator's Palate and they have a Willamette Valley Oregon wine offered for the night it's like $36.00 a bottle ~ well, I live in the Willamette Valley and our wines are mostly under $15.00 a bottle! :rotfl: I had to laugh! I guess we'll just hit the Florida ABC Liquor stores and get champagne for the morning mimosas. Bummer

If you all still plan to do this let me know, weve got some great cheeses and wine in Ontario, although I dont drink it very much.

Ice wine anyone???

Well be sure to tell him that you'll return the favor (or lack thereof) next time he wants to take a trip with the kids. What a jerk!

I would love to but it seems he has no intentions of taking the kids anywhere. He went to Jamaica earlier this year and he is going again leaving this Sat sans the kids. Then there is me, taking them with me on every vacation the last four years.

But the day will come and pay back is a *****!!!

Well the dumb a** that is my kids father has decided he will not sign the letter I need noterized for the kids to travel.

What was I thinking 10 years ago, oh yeah ..I wasnt thinking!!

Oh No! What will you do now? Is that a required form for the cruise? Why are some divorced parents so stupid?

One more time, for the perpetually forgetful! Is the meet after the lifeboat drill on Deck 10? Which side of the ship? Or will I be able to recognize this rowdy bunch?

Seeing this is DW and I's 5th DCL cruise, but DD's first...our first priority is to spoil her rotten. princess: We have a $200 credit from rebooking on board 2 years ago that my wife has already said we are spending on everything my daughter wants. :tinker: We are forgoing any spa treatments, excursions, etc. so that we can focus on her and her whims. Now that is not to say we will not spend our fair share on Konk Koolers (which by the way we have mastered at home thatnks to DW's Disney Cookbook!), Decaf Irish Coffees for late night strolls around deck 10 with my Cuban Cigars bought in Cozumel! :drinking1
We have also become quite fond of Capitan Morgans pirate: ....my wife now buys what she calls "the alcoholic 1 gallon jug". I plan to pick up a bottle in Orlando to add to our Diet Cokes at the pool!

We are in 6096 ...DW is a master at door signs!
Looking forward to double dipping with everyone! :woohoo:

This sound like my plans to, minus the cigars. This trip is DD's birthday present. I have promised here that the entire week will be dictateed by what she wants to do. The only exception is that I am doing Palo Brunch and Dinner. She was disappointed that she could not go. If the activities stay the same for our cruise as the last Double Dip, there are things in the clubs that she wants to do at the exact time of the Palo Dinner Ressie, but there was a family activity that she wanted to do during the brunch.

DCL does not require it but US immigration may and Canadian immigration will on our return.

If I have any problems and we get denied entry to the US, I will promptly return home and take him to court and sue him for all costs, mental anguish and everything else that I can put a price on!

I really dont understand the returning problem? We ARE returning so its not like Im stealing my kids away. I do walk with birth certificates, health cards, passports and government issued custody papers, so there should not be an issue whether the kids are really Canadian. I would sell my two to the Mexican black market before I buy TWO more and try and sneak them home :teeth:

What a jerk! I'm amazed at how parents can just turn their backs on their kids. If he's not going to take them anywhere, why in the world would he not agree to sign the necessary papers so you can? What is Canadian law on this? Here, you could just petition the Court for an order (which the Judge would absolutely grant) and go on. What do you need to do to be able to bring the kids?

I am so lucky. I am divorced, but my ex and I get along great. Those who have been on the thread for a while know that we all go out to dinner together and everything. He doesn't take DD places often, but it's because he doesn't go himself. He is self-employed and doesn't have people he trusts to take care of things while he's gone. He feels guilty about this and to make up for it, he helps me pay for our vacations. He gave me $500.00 to put toward the cruise itself. DD is saving money to spend on what ever she wants and from time to time he gives her ten or twenty dollars to add to it. Last night he told me that he will give me some spending money before we leave. On top of all of this, his DS and DBIL are letting us drive a vehicle off their dealership lot so that I don't have to put so many miles on my vehicle driving to Florida.

In fact, DD is home from school today sick and I am sick also. My ex is picking up the prescriptions that my doctor called in for us and bringing them to me along with some milk and bottled water. I'll have to remember to say a special "Thank You" when he gets here.

I should have read this before posting my other message. If you have papers giving you full custody you should be fine. When DD and I visit Niagra Falls a few years ago, we crossed over to Canada. They insisted on seeing my custody papers and when I produced them, they let us in with no problem.

Well, it this was our cruise week, we would have just finished up our group Palo Brunch and I would be stretched out on one of those comfy chairs on Deck 4 trying to breath in my tight pants. Waiting for the food to settle so that I can get dressed and go back to Palo for dinner at 9:00 p.m. Thursday is going to be a wonderful day for me.

WOW! I can't believe that a bottle of Wilamette Valley would be that much. We can get it at Trader Joes for $6! Wine package here I come!

Has anyone ever done the Hidden Mickey Hunt on the ship? This is one of DD's favorite things to do at WDW. When we look through the picture threads on this board, we are always looking in the backgrounds of the pictures for Hidden Mickeys that they may have accidentally picked up. We even do it at home. You would be amazed at how many Mickeys you can find in the world if you are looking for them.

I guess I should forget any ideas about spending the afternoon at the adult pool in a bathingsuit after our brunch :guilty:

:thumbsup2 Way to go Gail! Alot of people can learn from you and your ex-husband. You put your kid first, and that's the way it should be.

Asha- you'll be able to come, won't you? Dd is looking forward to meeting your dd. She thinks your daughter's hair is "cool" by the way. We went to look at the pictures the other day.

I almost had dh talked into MNSSHP, but then he was working from home today and the kids were absolutely delinquent. All of my nagging, wasted in one morning of bad behavior.

Well everyone wish me luck as I am off to the dentist this afternoon. I had a crack in my tooth that I didn't really think anything of until last week when it started hurting soooooo bad. Well I was not about to let it bother me on vacation. So I went to the dentist and the took xrays and he said to come back today, they might have to do a root canal. :guilty: Now I have a deeeeeeeep fear of dentist that stems from a bad experience as a child, so I am not looking forward to this. :sad2: So if everyone could please say a little prayer for me around 1pm west coast time I would really appreciate it.

Yes I will be coming, Icky (his name is Ricky) after all his huffing and puffing and refusals, ended up signing the papers. Got a call from the lawyers office telling me signed them this afternoon. Im am sure Rekha will appreciate Sadie's compliment.

Gail - I think its great that you and your ex can have a successful and supportive relationship after a breakup. I will not have that ever. My kids father is a very ignorant, and unhappy individual. I realized this a year after Rekha was born, but stayed with the relationship living for this dream I had in my head that all would be right one day. Aaahhhh the ignorance of youth, If it aint "right" right now it never will be was the lesson learned.

I'm back and I can't feel anything from my nose to my neck! God help me when this wears off! To make matters worse I am going out of town this weekend and I have to work everyday next week so the only time I could get my nails done is at 4 o'clock today. Oh and today is DH's birthday, so I am cooking his favorite dinner and I have to work open to close tomorrow. I am so glad I quit my job, but they sure are taking advantage of my giving them a months notice. They haven't had me work a tues, wen, or thurs in a month, but sure enough I am working those days on my last week there. I am getting another headache just thinking about all that I have to do! When all is said and done I will NEED a vacation! :teeth:
