09/16/06 Double Scoop Group- see ya real soon!!

Well I am off everyday for now....I had a brain anneursym that burst and so I had to have emergency brain surgery and it was performed on Labor day. I am still not 100%. I sleep a heck of alot and get headaches alot as well but I am coming around. I go back to work 1/2 days on Oct 17th. Wish I was cruising now....sigh.

Anyway, I have enjoyed reading all the posts this morning and cannot wait until cruise time .

Whoo hoo 8th is exciting LOL. As for the snow days - you do not have to make them up unless we miss 5 days for snow - then the kids have to make up all 5 at that point - so pray for a very calm winter- Us teachers have to make them all up regardless - so we really dislike snow days in that respect.

Smooth winter smooth winter...haha I have a question for ya..I will take what you say as advice only so dont feel like I will say " Well Merry is a teach and she said..." LOL This new attendance policy for GA...help me out a minute please?
My DS has missed 2 days of school already. He will miss 4 more days in Jan. We were both cool with that. But now he has been invited to Orlando because his class last year won an award. I have already told him he could go, thinking that since it is an award his class won becauue of a school project, that the days would be excused. I just found out that they will not be excused absences. Even though it is a school project that won, the trip is not a school sponsored trip.....make sense? So, that means when he returns he will have 5 days total missed.....then in Jan it will be up to 9......whatcha think??? Will I get in really big trouble??

OMGosh Tracy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! An anneursym?!?!?!?!?!?!? Was it totally unexpected? Were you just a regular healthy person, who had this out of the blue?? Oh my!!!!!!!!!Dont just drop a bomb on us like that , and then run away! Share please!

Hello everyone. I didn't get a chance to check in yesterday. It was a long day at the office and my DD and I slept over at my mother's last night. I had to provide banana nut bread for a community service project today. My mother is much better at baking than I am. She and I made so much banana nut bread last night that I don't care if I ever see another banana in my life.

I hope everyone had great days yesterday and today.

I just got an email from Kim Bremner and it made me start to miss our Dis group from last year's cruise. We're going on the Dec 3 Western and Diane, Rick and their son Matt are going with us as well. It won't be the same without you and your family.

48 weeks wow! I must admit my dorkyness - I went to Barnes and Nobel tonight to have coffee and teh whole time I was there I read about Dis Cruises - I am SO EXCITED - and I think that I got myself VERY excited about COzumel - neat excursions .

I posted this in one of my ohter threads but this is it in a nutshell. I thought since you were a teacher you could give me the "teachers" view?
I am either going to pull out all of my hair or turn to alcohol with this girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It has gotten to the point where I just feel like, well if you dont care then I dont care. I know that is childish, but I am at my wits end. How can I get this child to do her homework? I have bought her an assg pad to keep track of her work, she doesn't use it. I keep getting notes from her teacher about her lack of homework........How can I make her do her homework when I dont know she has it? I wrote a long letter to the teacher asking for her help. I told her that Taylro has innattentive ADD and needs help staying ontask..I asked her to make sure Taylor writes the work down and get her to initial it...she wrote back saying that she would do that for a week or two, but she expected Taylor to bring it to her on her own after that??? That is the problem now, Taylor does not follow it through..She is in the 3rd grade. She is very smart. When she does do the work she gets A's and B's.....I dont know what to do. THe teacher has requested a conference with me..and I am a little irritated with her as well. Why wont she help my child?
