Oh my, I've been away so long. Yes, Yes, Yes, I want Palo Brunch. Sorry if I waited too late!!!!!

Now let me back up. I read through all of the posts that I have missed and I missed a lot. It semms that there is a posting war going on. What are the rules? I got my cabin number also: 5639. I had considered upgrading at the port if I could, but this is the floor that we wanted. My DD is planning to spend a lot of time in the clubs and wants me to give her sign out privileges. Being on the same floor as the clubs would be great. I'm not sure what we will do now. I'm not planning to spend much time in the cabin anyway. We are both getting so excited. When should we start expecting our doc's?

I don't want to start a discussion on whether DS8 should miss school, he is and it is ok with his teacher...

I mentioned to him that we were going on a Disney Cruise soon. He asked if we could leave today...

Now, I think I need to keep quiet and not let the kids know when we are leaving until the day we leave for the airport. I don't want him to get too excited and not concentrate on school.

Anyone have any ideas how he might do some school work during the vacation, or are we better off to not even try.

Bishops no complaints here..mine miss about 4-5 days every year for one of our trips. THey are good students with good grades and to me the memories are far more precious then a perfect attendance certificate at the end of the year. When we cruised in 04 my ds took his backpack and homework and had every intention of getting it done on board....yeah right that happened! NOT....He did it on the drive down and the drive back and on the SUnday when we returned so I say leave it at home do it when you get back..

I called DCL and was not able to get in touch with my contact but I did leave her a messsage and let her know that we do want the room. Only i have to make some changes to the guest list.
On said list I have
1. dzneprincess (Amanda)
2. ericamanda01 (Amanda)
3. WldWcnWmn (Thea)
4. purpletart (Cindy)
5. seashells (Asha)
6. newtodcl (Teresa)
7. gssmks (Gail)
8. Beaker1967 (Kathy)
9. Beaker1967 (Jeff)
10. Skoi (Julie)
11. TADsmommy (Karen????? have not heard back from her is she is cool with time and date change.....
12. paulasillars (Paula)
13. ? (possible Joanne?)
14. ? (possible Denise)

Have I left anyone off? JoAnne I never heard back from you...Again I do not know if your personal ressie will be canceled because of the group ressie....If that is the case..I need to know if you and Denise wish to join the group or keep your personal ressie? I know that because of the date change, I will be losing my personal ressie that I had planned for just Amanda and I to catch up....:-( BUT I guess????? it will be worht it?!?!? hahahahaha

"The rules are there ain't no rules!"

Big shout out to the first person to guess where that is from :teeth:

Bishop family-

Are they giving him schoolwork? If so- do it on the flight and get it out of the way would be my opinion. We home school, and we start early so that we don't have to work on vacation- we need to log 900 hours for ds 8 and 990 hours for dd 12. I do make them do a journal, and if we do something really educational I do log the time. Since my kids are huge history geeks we usually end up doing one educational activity.

You're lucky that your school is letting you take him out withou a huge hassle- from what I've seen on the boards, it can be a real fight in some places complete with fines, threats of jail time, etc.

If your ds would like to email with another 8 year old boy before the cruise- send us a pm and let us know.

That is what it is like here and I think it is completely ridiculous! Is the school district wants to fine me and put me in jail for taking time with my kids then so be it! It gets on my nerves so bad! IE this year my eldest is in middle school (6th grade)...the trip we have coming up? I have told him that I would love for him to go, but it will be up to him. He is the one that will know if he will be able to miss the school days....Also, if he does not go, I have told him I will be sure to take him, just he and I. So, he is still pondering on whether or not he feels he can go....

90 posts til 3000! Is there a pirate in the midst or am I gonna get all by myself??? :-)

Bishop Family, this trip will be the fourth year in a row that my kids have missed a week of school for a vacation. I have no regrets, as a single parent its either travel in the low season or not at all!

My kids are 10 and 6. Last year was the first time homework was given and only to the 6yr old (then 5). We brought it with it but as Dzneprincess said "not", it sat on a table all seven days. He did it the night we got back.

Best bet to do it before or after. Personally I wouldnt want to take my work with me on vacation so I guess I should allow my kids that too.

So I came home this evening to a DHL package in my mail....

And I started to worry about how im gonna pay for all those drinks....

Found a letter sized envelope inside, which seemed kinda small...

But it was my Halloween party tickets!!!! Whew...thought I was gonna go broke eating my words of us Canadians being the last to get our docs!

I joke with people about this all the time. When they ask me why we homeschool I say it's so we can take our Disney trips when it's cheaper and not crowded. They think I'm kidding, but partially it's true. We're fortunate that I can do this so we have the freedom to do what we want. Not to mention that ds is a late bloomer and would have long ago been shunted off into special ed because he's a late reader and his over all language arts skills are let's just say-- um-- atrocious. He's smart as whip though, so it makes me crazy when he can't do some of the assignments I give him- the same ones his sister whipped through when she was a year or two younger. But I'm digressing...

(Have to get the post count up...)

Really- I have to study for the chem final. I'm bringing homework on the cruise- biology. I'm buying the book and hoping to learn enough on my own to test out of the class. I wonder how much biology I'll learn after drinking all those liquored-up coffees and fancy-fruity things they sell on deck.

88 to go...dzne princess do tell, the line sounds so familiar but i just cant place it..my guess

well i could here it coming from Jack Nickelson but it being about rules maybe some sports movie...this is going to bug me until I know..thanks, thanks alot!
