09/15/07 Early Check in September 15, 2007 Eastern

I have two children but only bringing my daughter (she's my favorite of the two - JUST KIDDING). My son is only 9 months and we decided to leave him behind this trip as we felt we needed some Mommy/Daddy time alone (away from our GREAT kids). Since my daughter is 4 and loves Disney we felt that if she wanted to come and spend time in the Kid's Club then that would be great as we could still have lots of family and alone time. Bottom line - we chose Disney so that we COULD take our daughter but still have some getaway time.

BTW - my daughter is 4.

TLHB70 - I am so sorry to hear about your DH. Isn't it just like a man to arrange all of this and then be gone. :rolleyes1 I have amde the drive fron Louisville Ky to Orlando and Pt Canaveral several times with the kids by myself. If you have a GPS system it will be easy. My DH always has something come up so that he does not have to drive with us. :confused3 There may be a pattern to this. I wish I could send you a fairy godmother to take care of everthing.:wizard: I would think most of the car rental places would have an office in the port.

Actually, I don't think any car rental places have office in the port itself, they are offsite. But they do provide shuttle transportation from the office to the port. I'm pretty sure there is Budget and Hertz, don't remember what other car rental companies are close by.

Avis is another one. That is who we have this time. Got a discount through Costco.

I have a question for you past cruisers.... I was going over my clothing list that I made so I can start packing and it seemed like a lot of outfits, underwear, socks to have to bring for 3 of us. My question is am I better off doing laundry while on board? We are not flying in as we live in Florida and just driving to the port. I am afraid I wont have enough room to store my luggage. Any advice?

Stargater.... Hey sorry I haven't phoned but it's been crazy....
I am so excited I can't believe this has come together, actually I can't even sleep I am so excited... And I can't believe everything I have to do and keep it all a secret from my kids... I think I might use your lie about the kennedy space center and tell them we are going with you guys so we can explaine why we are heading towards the port.... What do you think????
amy

Great Idea! Mads will love it.

So am I the only one that hasn't received their docs yet?! :sad1: My TA said that DCL sent them to her company's main headquarters, in WA! We live in MA and my TA is based out of NH. So that delays my docs just a wee bit. :scared:

Man the one day at work I'm able to DIS this week and they are down. Sheesh! I missed a lot. This vacation cannot come at a better time for myself and DBF. Work is killing us :headache: :headache:

bahogg--:welcome:
nikki--glad your tooth situation is better :teeth:
TLHB70--I'm sorry to hear about your DH's emergency trip over the pond. Just take one thing at a time. I'm sure everything will work out for you guys.

I will be bringing all 8 piecies of allowed luggage for th 4 of us. I will not do laundry onboard, I would rather bring a little extra then have to take up cruise time doing chores. But that is just me.;)

For those that have done cruise door magnets before:

I just wanted to double check two things with those who have done this before:

1 - Can I use personal photo's of my family?
2 - I don't necessarily have good luck with the inkjet/magnetic paper so instead I got a few items such as magnetic backing tape as well as the plastic sleeves you can put pictures/photos in and they stick to the fridge, etc. - will those be ok?

My door signs are on cardstock and just have magnetic tape attached to the back. I figure nobody should be having water near them and personally if they disappear then I really won't care as I didn't spend much on them. Which I am hoping they don't.

I gotta finish packing my toiletries, print my itinerary and head to bed as 3:45am comes way too early. Considering I am exhausted that might win over the excitement.

See you soon.:dance3: :cheer2: :cool1: :woohoo:

The two pieces of luggage is NOT including a carry-on, correct? (I hope!!)
I am also contemplating laundry or not. Dh thinks we should do some onboard........................ of course, he's not the one who will be doing it. Maybe I can "bargain" for something special for me!

Tina, they are waitlisted for early, but I know they are linked to all of us, because yesterday when I checked in online and put in our credit card info, there was a whole bunch of people linked that it asked me if I wanted to give charging priviledges to. Their names were there with everyone elses.

Well, then they should be dining with us, anyone that is linked with us, is dining with us!

I will have 8 checked bags, and 4 carry on, at least. Last year I used all our luggage tags, and forgot our garment bag. DH was not too happy having to carry the garment bag around with us until our room was ready. :lmao:

I was so glad to see you have boys, as it appears that there are a lot of girls that age, but not many boys. My oldest is 10 1/2 and my youngest will be 9 next month. I'm sure they would love to meet your boys, we could even have them e-mail each other if you like-beforehand.
Toodles,
Tara

I can't let them e-mail before becouse my ds's don't know we are going on the cruise, they think we are staying at wilderness lodge villas that week.
But if we could find away to even meet at the port when we are waiting to go on the ship, if that doesn't work then maybe at the meet. That would be way great.... Let me know what works for you. And thanks for replying and letting me know.
amy:yay:
Oh How could I forget.... We got one set of our docs today!!!!

You can use personal photos. Our first cruise i used the clear photo frames that are magnetic and you just slip you photo inside of them, and it worked great.

I have done laundry on the cruise and I didn't have a problem with it, but you do have to remember that there is not a laudry on every deck and also it does take time out of your day. When I did it we were just lucky enough that our laudry was just a couple of doors down so it worked great for me. You will be surprised though how much time you guys will spend in your bathing suit and won't need all those clothes. My kids spend so much time at the pool, and I make sure that whatever they put on in the morning is the same thing they put on through the day if they change back and forth out of their bathing suit and clothes. Hope that helps alittle

Stephen and I are heading to the airport soon.    :cool1: :dance3: :yay: :cheer2:

See you soon. Safe travels to the port.

I have a wonderful update!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

DH got home late last night. He told me not to get upset that he was late because he was working on something important. He then told me that he talked to the GM at work and the client in Spain, and he is now able to fly home to NC on Thursday!!!!!!!! He will be able to drive to Florida with us on Friday!!!!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Also, I called the friends that had planned to come stay with us while I waiting on DH to get home yesterday evening. I figured I needed to tell them that DH would not be home when they would stay with us next week.
Well, that is all worked out too!!!! The husband didn't have the correct date when he talked to my DH!!!!!!!! The girls' last day of work in TX is the 14th!! They plan to move her to NC the following week. Her first day to report to campus is on the 22nd. So that means we will not be home when they move. They will not be staying with us next week.

I am so thankful! My prayers have been answered!!!!!!!!! :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:
