No Problem! I totally understand. On one of our cruises we were almost moved in on when a couple at our table found out we were in an upper category stateroom. Weird people are everywhere. That is why we have "Dis"claimers and stress everything is voluntary. Participate as much or as little as you want. It's your vacation. We spent much of our time in our stateroom this last trip. (even if it doesn't sound like it.) Skipped both formal nights, even though Lamar had his tux and I brought two gowns. :dance3:
There is always so much to do you can't do everything. We didn't want to do it all.
Don't be surprised if you find gifts in your stateroom though. That could happen when you have a stateroom attendant. :) Fish extender or not.

Thanks, I knew people would understand. I work nights and DH works days so vacation is time alone for us. We don't see much of each other working like that. I know what you mean about weird people everywhere. Luckily you can usually tell those types right off. We don't have children so when we eat out we usually sit at the bar. Think Applebees or TGI Fridays. There is always someone that we both look at each other and say "NO EYE CONTACT". We have had to eat and leave before because someone won't shut up. We always chat with people at the bar but some you can turn your back on and they still don't get it. DH talks sports and some guys will talk at him till he has to say. "Excuse me but I would like to talk with my wife" :rotfl2: Even then some people don't get it.

2 weeks does not seem like enough time to shop for the Secret Mickey especially 2 weeks before a cruise.

Some things are liked by everyone. I had three of the 5 gifts picked out before I found out who my Secret Mickey was. She said she loved all of them. I found a really cool pirate book at Sam's way before the cruise. I just bought things I thought would work for anyone and I really liked. The last two gifts were geared towards her preferences, i.e. favorite color, favorite disney character, etc. The reason we wait so close to cruise date is because new people join the group till the very end and it allows for more participation.

Here is what I gave:

1. Pirate Book- I gave on pirate day
2. Tropical night Bird bead necklace- I gave on tropical day
3. A friendly Flying monkey (sort of like a sling shot, he howled when he flew)
4. Pink mickey ears antenna topper (pink is her favorite color, she requested an antenna topper)
5. Special Disney mug

What I received:
1. Candy
2. Small Tigger figure
3. Small caculator
4. Medium sized stuffed Pirate Tigger w/eye patch and pirate flag
5. Bottle of Mango Rum from St Kitts
6. Small Tigger pouch

Lamar gave the same items as I did except he gave a 2007 Firefighter calendar and a couple of small NASCAR items based on his Secret Mickeys preferences.

I don't remember what he received except he is a SUDUKO nut and his Secret Mickey gave him a handheld electronic SUDUKO.

It's really more about the surprise, than the gifts and trying to figure out who your Secret Mickey might be. You don't want to get caught delivering your SM gifts. :dance3:

You can also participate as a family, so there is not so much shopping to do. I think we had a couple of families last cruise do this.

Hey everyone, just checking in to hopefully get to know everyone before our cruise. This is patrick, megans fiance aka mommaraven. She went on her first cruise 2 weeks ago and loved it, the best vacation of her life she said, although i think i kinda tipped the scales when i proposed the first night at disney world. We were on the dismeets boards for that cruise too and didn't realize that one of the couples was our partners during on of the adult games one night, guess we should have joined the boards sooner. We may have to put together a list or photos so everyone knows who each other is. I really can't wait, we haven't decided yet but it may be our honeymoon. Our friends steve and kamy are renewing their vows on the ship and megans sister and her boyfriend will be joining us also. We will have a group of about 11 or so people. Can't wait to meet you all. Have a good one.

Sadly we will not be having a fish extender. DH is a fun guy but he cringes when he sees all the stuff on peoples doors. He is one of those people that just knows it is going to get stolen. In fact there will be no way he would even let anyone know what room we are in. We had neighbors quite a few years back that decided we were their new best friends. By the time they moved away it had graduated to stalking us. A little scary. The wife would call 20 times a day. She would run out of the house if she saw us leaving wanting to know where we were going. He is just a bit paranoid now.

We will come to the DIS meet and do some of the other stuff but some things like the fish extender will be out for us. Just a bit of fair warning. I don't want anyone to think we aren't friendly. We really are, just wary after stalking neighbors. :rotfl2:

I have never had any problems like that but if I did I think I would run for the hills too. I am one of those people who will engage almost anyone in conversation but I hope I am bright enough to know when it isn't welcomed. I just wanted to say I can understand why there would be no fish extender for you. As far as having things stolen, I figure if they steal it they must need it more than I. On the other hand I wouldn't put anything out on the door that I couldn't bear to part with. If we all felt the same way or did the same things this world would be very boring. I am sure that we will meet at some point on this cruise. Looking forward to it. Mouser

Something more to celebrate. I have noticed there are several anniversaries. This just gives us more reason to party. As I am not a real late night person I hope at least one of the parties is earlier in the day. Maybe on a day at sea. Congrats on the engagement. Mouser

Hi Everyone :wave2:

Well, we just got back from our first family trip to WDW and I needed another vacation to plan so DH & I just booked this cruise yesterday :cool1: We loved the Wonder last year but it was just not long enough. I am looking forward to sailing on the Magic. This time we are leaving the kids at home. DH and I are celebrating our 5 yr anniversary next fall and definately looking forward to some alone time ;) We are also looking forward to meeting fellow Disers. Last year we made our cruise plans so late and I had just found the DisBoards so I never really got to know anyone on our cruise. Plus last year DD was 22 months and DS was 4 months when we cruised so we had our hands full with them and couldn't make it to the DisMeet.

Congrats on the anniversary. I have cruised both with and without kids. I think I enjoy without more because I can enjoy everyone elses kids but not have the worry. I am thinking we may need to keep a list of what everyone is celebrating and have a party. One that would honor each person and or couple. What does everyone else think? We have several anniversaries already. I bet that there would be at least a few birthdays on or around this cruise. There could be other reasons to celebrate as well. Let me know. Mouser

THANKS!!
The MICKEY extender is super. Did you buy or make that one? How did you get Mickey to know about it and come pose with the girls by the door?
Jan :earsgirl:

EDITED to add: Now that the picture prints out I see that Mickey is not by your door as I thought he was. Still a cute fish extender.

Ditto! So many are celebrating!!! WOOHOO!!! :woohoo: We usually cruise with our kids, but always take a week alone in September. Best decision we have ever made...although it does mean we are missing a couple of high school golf matches! :sad2: We have found that it is great for our relationship and that the kids actually respect the fact that we take the time! The last few years, that solo week has become an additional cruise! Can it get any better??? Of course, as we go through the week we talk about all the things they would be doing at certain times and we miss them terribly! But we are always able to find something else to do! :thumbsup2

Love the idea of a Secret Mickey!!! Sounds like fun! The Fish Extender was a great idea! We just tend to have a little white message board and maybe a door sign. So far so good on no one swiping. They really do come in handy when we have all five plus of us sailing! That way everybody knows where everyone else is!

Thank you!!! DH & I are really looking forward to a vacation alone! We have not been on a vacation with just the two of us since our Honeymoon. We only get out together without the kids a couple of times per year (if that) for dinner or a movie. I am a stay at home mom and I love my kids dearly (and so thankful I can stay home with them) but I don't get a break so I am so excited about being able to sleep in, lay up on deck with a book, not having to worry about diaper changes and toddler tantrums...HEAVEN!!!!

I think it would be great to have all the activites mentioned here... Celebration Party, PJ Breakfast, Secret Mickeys, ect... This sounds like it is going to be an awesome cruise!!!

This is going to be a wonderful cruise!!! :thumbsup2
We are so excited! We are having our wedding ceremony onboard(technically we are renewing vows, but this is gonna be a REAL ceremony! ) and have family and friends coming.....it is so exciting!!!!!

We cannot wait to meet all of you. My mom is coming and I am going to try to get her onto the DIS before then....as for DH, he never posts....but I will try!

We are up for the PJ breakfast and some other things....so let's get it going!!!
Talk soon!!!

Meeep! My sister and her DBF confirmed their reservation for this cruise today!!! YAYYY!! They will be 3 doors down from us. I'm so excited to be going with my sister and my sister-in-spirit, Kamy. This is going to be a blast and we'll have so much to celebrate since it looks like DFi and I will almost certainly be married by then. Holy smokes!

My DH, Lamar never posts either. He just asks me where we have to be and what we are doing. Up until this last trip it was throw a suitcase in the mom-mobile and head for the port about 10 am. :rotfl2:
This trip one of my best friends of more than 30 years is going to be on the ship with us. She has promised to join us on the DIS. :grouphug:

Yahoo!!!! :dance3:
This is going to be so much fun......I cannot wait!
Actually, I am glad it is still a little while away....I need all those months to lose all this darn weight I have gained from this big baby boy!!!! I think he might come early (as long as he is healthy, early sounds good!) :teeth:

Oh Kamy, I hear you. I need the months until the wedding to seriously slim down...especially if I end up going with a strapless dress, which will probably be the case since I can't find anything with sleeves!!! Sometimes it sucks being a woman!

Well I think you look great! :goodvibes But I can understand wanting to look your best! I am feeling that too! Looking and FEELING good on the cruise is so important to me.....especially since we are having our wedding cermony onboard and those will be the photos I have been waiting for!
After two kids in two years, I have some serious weight to lose.....so lots of hard work ahead! And I gotta look good at your wedding too!

I am not the strapless dress type....let's just say the large chest does not allow it sometimes! LOL! :confused3
I have to get a dress too! OMG!!! :yay: That is so cool! But I think I will wait till summer! Gotta drop a few sizes first......

Okay.....back to cruising...........so much to plan....sailaway (we gotta do shirts!), excursions, parties, etc! I love cruising! :p

Thanks for the compliments! :grouphug: Yeah, strapless dresses make me look like the prow of a ship. There ought to be a foghorn to clear the way for my chest. Oy. :rotfl:

Back to cruising...I'm going to try to get my sister (what the code for sister?) to join the DIS boards. I still can't believe she's actually going. This is going to be so awesome! :dance3:

Sounds wonderful! I am still in shock that Steve's parents are coming! HOLY COW!!! :woohoo: I know it means a lot to him. And now with you guys there too, it will make everything more special! So glad you booked this cruise!
