The specialist did not see any major fractures in Courtney's x-rays which is good. But she has enough tenderness in all the wrong places that he is worried there could be damage to the growth plate. So he put her in a long-arm splint which goes from her wrist to halfway between her elbow and shoulder. She needs to wear that for about a week. (So far she just HATES wearing it!) After a week he said that enough bone would form on either side (wrist and elbow) that he could take more x-rays and check again for signs of a fracture.

So we didn't really get the "all clear", but it could've been worse too. I just really hope this doesn't drag on. I hope by next week everything is okay and she can get back to normal life.

The good news is I'm home! Feels good to be in real clothes instead of a hospital gown. I've got Lovenox shots I need to give myself for the next 2 days and then go get tested on Thursday to see where the coumadin level is and what adjustment is needed. Dr. said I will be on it for about 6 months.

Bad news is the path report came back and some lymph nodes had cancer so chemo is in my future. Not what we were hoping to hear and it has us both a bit down which is why we haven't posted until now. So another challenge to face but we'll face it.

All your thoughts, prayers, etc. have really helped. Thank you all. I'm truly blessed to have so many caring about me.

It is so good to hear from you Mary! I'm sure you are much more comfortable at home and Mark is taking good care of you. I wish you would've gotten better news today. I will be praying for you through this ordeal.

It is a cold rainy day here. But it is still in the high 40’s so I am not complaining.

Mary, I bet is was nice to be able to sleep in your own bed last night instead of a hospital bed.

Greetings all!

The good news is I'm home! Feels good to be in real clothes instead of a hospital gown. I've got Lovenox shots I need to give myself for the next 2 days and then go get tested on Thursday to see where the coumadin level is and what adjustment is needed. Dr. said I will be on it for about 6 months.

Poor Courtney! I am sure that is not comfortable for her. It sure does not sound like it, but it sounds like it is holding it straight. I to hope this helps.

Hope she gets the all clear so she could go back to her regular routine next week.

Good morning all - happy Wednesday!

It did feel good to sleep in my own bed but took some getting used to. I could finally sleep on my side again but there was some discomfort at first as my body wasn't used to it and my stomach area is still tender from the surgery. Still it is good to be home and not hooked up to all those machines! Hard to believe that it was just one week ago that I was leaving for my surgery. What a week it was.

Still it is good to be home and not hooked up to all those machines! Hard to believe that it was just one week ago that I was leaving for my surgery. What a week it was.

Wow! A week has gone by. Time flies, but I am sure for you it felt longer.

We were with you through that week and before, we will be with you and Mark through the rest.

Have you tried a pillow in front of you incase you go to your stomach by mistake? It helped me a little when I had my C Section. I was used to sleeping on my stomach.

There is no character breakfast on the Member Cruise. They only have those on the 7 day or longer cruises when all three rotations can have one.

Boy, I have had that feeling several times here lately. June can't come fast enough for our trip. Must be getting cabin fever and need to get away somewhere. This nice weather we have been having hasn't helped. it was in the 60's yesterday. But, winter is to be back on Friday when we are to be getting a measurable snow.

There is no character breakfast on the Member Cruise. They only have those on the 7 day or longer cruises when all three rotations can have one.

I did not even realize that it was supposed to snow until I read your post. Then I went and checked my weather bug. I don't want that. My DS and me are supposed to go to Milwaukee on Saturday. He old school is haveing presentations and the kids that are doing them are ones that I know.

We love the H2O products from Disney and use them here at home. So we get a little bit a Disney every time we shower. I used the ones I won at the Chicago Dis meet today. It is the aquatics line they use at the resorts.

It is a cold, wet, dreary day here in Chicagoland. I missed all the really nice weather but at least I know Spring is right around the corner!

As for weather, it was a cloudy, windy, cold day here. The ice did go out of the river by our house today. Hard to believe already. But, we are to get snow by Friday by a system coming through. The different news casts are all calling for different amounts of snow. 2-3, 6-10, inches of snow. Nobody knows and they are all just guessing for now. So when Friday finally comes we will see what we get. So, Mary, I'm guessing you will get this mess on Saturday. I mean Chicago is only 8 hours a way from us. And I'm sure you will be getting it too. Let's just keeping thinking about Spring!!!!! Not much longer, I hope.

I wonder where everybody else is? The thread is getting pretty quiet right now. Everybody must be busy with real life, like I should be. So with that, it is off to take Becca to dancing.

We are supposed to get snow here after midnight on Friday. BUt I have check and they are not saying how much. So I talke it little or no Accumulation. At least I hope that is what it means since I am driving to Milwaukee at 7:30AM Saturday morning.

Hi Mary and Welcome Home! We have missed you and glad that you are posting again. We continue to pray for you and wish you the best. I know what you mean about sleeping in your own bed! When I had back surgery last June, even though I was in my own room, I wanted to be in my own bed!

Annmarie - I really understand the frustration you are going through with being able to sleep through the night. It is so hard to get comfortable enough to sleep through the night. I'm sure it is something that will get better day by day but I know you have been dealing with it for a long time.

Mary, Flo, Chris- here's hoping you don't get anymore of that white stuff. We were near sixty degrees yesterday and are expected to be below freezing again by the beginning of next week.
