09/13/09 SSMC09 S.S. Member Cruise 2009 - Part 4!

:surfweb:Good Morning Deck 9 Sunrise Members and Fellow Cruisers! :surfweb:

Hope everyone had a great weekend, ours was uneventful.

Chris-Great picture from the 2007 MC. We do the same as you while traveling. Bathroom and fuel stops combined with grabbing a quick bite to eat. We have perfected it while driving back and forth to Michigan.:lmao:

Robbie-I heard that was quite a windy event you had up there, glad you are safe!

Sue-How are things?

Mary-Glad to see things are going well

Lisa-Hopefully no more snow from these last storms. While I sit and still wish for more snow.

Flo-How about that finish to the Olympics, what a great Hockey game!

Have a good week everyone!!

Good Morning to all of my wonderful friends and Cruisin' Buddies! Wish I was on Deck 9!!!

Sorry I haven't been on in a few days. Things were just a little crazy around here - especially since DS had another snow day on Friday and had a friend over. I never seems to get as much done around here when that happens!

Roads are clear now - and of course, they are saying we may get another nor'easter on Wednesday. EHHHHHHH! I love snow, but I really need to get a few things done here! If it makes for another canceled practice for Dustin's All-South Jersey band, I don't know whether they will try to change the concert date - which is suppose to be this coming Sunday. With all of the snow and the two canceled practices - so far - I'm not sure what's happening. Guess we'll wait and see.

Hey Dave - all is well here. And I'll be glad to share some snow with you! I think we had more here than they did in Vancouver! It was a great hockey game but I wish the USA would have won. Or at least if Canada had to win, I wish it would have been anybody EXCEPT Crosby who scored. He's so full of himself already, he didn't need any extra hipe!! Been bowling lately? How's that going? Any 300's?

Hi Chris - wow, I'm so jealous that you are going again. DB and DSIL just came home on Saturday, and said that they only had one nice warm day to go poolside - the rest was very, very chilly and quite a few showers.

When we've been going on road trips, we always take everything because - you can guess I'm sure, since they are soooo much alike - DH doesn't stop for anything except fuel and potty!! I've been trying different things - as you said, sandwiches get alittle old. I've found that if I do things like chicken salad with lettuce in a wrap (like a flour tortilla), they don't get soggy or anything and it's easier to hold with one hand while driving and doesn't spill out. I've done a bunch of different fillings in different flavor wraps and it's nice for a change.

Well, better hop off for a little while. I promised the troop committee that I would do our Charter on line today - considering it was due on Saturday - oops! Oh well, technically we have 60 days to be too late, so I guess one isn't too bad. I'm usually a lot later than this - hehehehe! BBL :cool1:

Dave - You are so right it was a great finish to the Olympics. I was a little sad but they gave us an exciting game to say the least. I am sure a few of them are brused up a bit to.

hello my fellow cruisers!

I wanted to share some news. I started my job today as a full time employee. They harried me.:woohoo::woohoo: I am no longer a temp. Now I get paid holidays so this is a good thing.

Take care and have a good week.

Sue - hope your weather improves so Dustin can get his practicing and concert in. This weather has really put a kink in everything hasn't it? :confused3

And I hope the weather warms up in two weeks down in Florida. We don't want to go where it is cold. I mean geez Louise! :rolleyes1 We are even warming up here. How pathetic are we that we are excited to get above freezing for most of the week. No snow forecast and it is melting here!!!! :woohoo: But I've heard rumors about next week, and they are not nice. Just have to wait and see.

Thanks for the wraps idea. I have tried them before with the ham, lettuce and tomatoes but they got soggy. But if I'm reading right you put the lettuce next to the tortilla then the chicken salad then roll-up? Please let me know if that is correct. We may have to give it a try. This time we are also taking fresh vegies and dip, grapes, and DH wants me to try and make a veggie pizza to take. Plus stuff for sandwiches, muffins, OMG we are taking so much food we won't know what to do! But we will be on the road longer than normal. Well, not really longer, but we are leaving late in the day on Saturday - because of Becca's Show Choir competition - and going to spend two nights on the road going down this time instead of one. And it seems the family snacks all the way there. Oh, boy.

Well, hope things get back to normal for you and the family. Stay safe and have a great evening!

I'm with you - we always seem to snack alot in the car on a long drive, and I think it really helps with staying alert and stuff! Yes, you are right about the lettuce. Rinse and then dry it real well between paper towels, then put that on first - it acts like a buffer. It really helps keep things from getting soggy. I tried ham and cheese and turkey and cheese once, but the lunchmeat itself has so much added water that as it sits, the tortilla absorbs the moisture like a sponge! Same with fresh tomatoes, so I use a little bit of mild salsa instead for extra favor.

I really hope Becca's show goes well. That's so exciting that she has earned all of the honors that she has! Always wished I could sing - it's so much fun! I have what my mom calls a "pew singing voice" - I really like to sing the hymns at church (when I get there!). :rolleyes1

I'm sure that it will warm up by the time you get there! We're actually supposed to get close to 50 degrees here by the weekend. I guess if we do, that will take care of most of our snow (boohoo). Our front lawn still has a good five inches or more. It's so pretty!! But then you have all of those horrible looking clumps along the roads that are all dirty and I can't wait to see them disappear!

Chris, have you ever made that veggie pizza that you use crescent rolls as the crust for and then cut them into squares? They are fantastic and would be easy to eat on the run.

Sue - Are you talking about the one with creamchees on top? If so I have it is so good. You put all kind of vegies on it right?

It is supposed to in the 40's here over the weekend. We will see.

Yep, that's the one. We love that. And since we are going to be taking cut up veggies I'm just going to divide those in half and make some to dip and some to make a pizza! So hopefully, it won't go to waste. I have an Aunt who has to make two of these pizza's when it comes to family get togethers, because they are soooooooo good.

Hey everyone! Anyone out there!! Been pretty quiet here today. Everyone must be very busy in the middle of the week.

Well, DS made it through rehearsal last night and we didn't get the snow that was forecast - so all is good here. :thumbsup2

Otherwise, there isn't much new here. Just got back from karate with DS and DH is at a school board meeting. So I guess I'll do the unheard of, and take my shoes off, put my feet up and grab the remote for myself!! :yay:

Robbie-I heard that was quite a windy event you had up there, glad you are safe!

Thanks! It was amazing. I haven't seen that much damage from a wind & rain storm that is so wide spread (OK, I know that hurricanes are worse, but I have only been through a couple of them and they had less damage)

Sometimes you just have to say "What the Heck" and relax and enjoy yourself. :thumbsup2

:surfweb::surfweb:Good Morning Sunrise Club Members and all Fellow Cruisers

I was just rerading the Disney Files magazine and saw where the 2011 SSMC is Sept 18-22 of that year!! Hope we can all meet up again!!!

Sue-WTG on the relax part, I will someday!

Chris-When are you leaving again?

Hello to the rest of our SSMC09 holdouts frequenting this thread :wave2:

have a great day all!

Good Morning everyone! Especially Chris and Dave who are up and around! :rotfl2:

It doesn't happen often, but relaxing can be a good thing! Dave, hope you get to do that sometime soon! ;)

All is quiet here. DH & DS decided to go skiing today and play hookie from work and school! DH had a free return pass from our group trip with the scouts and a voucher for DS to get free rental equipment, so it was only going to be the cost of the lift ticket. This will be the end of the season for the Poconos, so we said "what the heck"! I'm off to go to mom's in a few, but then I'll come back this afternoon and try to do a little clean up.

Got a new suit for the concert for DS so he was very excited - man, he's growing so fast! And boy does he look sharp in the black suit!! Why is it that all good things, like puppies, kittens, and little kids, all have to grow up! :rotfl: Sometimes it just doesn't seem right! hehehe! But then, in all seriousness, I look at my older two, and realize what fine young men they have become and how proud I am of them, and the answer to the other question is staring me in the face! Oh wow, look at me, being all serious! Guess it was just one of those quiet moments in the house when I realize how much I miss them being around all the time. But they are fine, and happy, and that's what's important.

Well, off to mom's! Everyone have a good day!! :cool1:

Oh, and Dave, count us in for the 2011 member cruise! Can't wait to vacation with my favorite cruisin' buddies again! :thumbsup2

Good morning!

Dave - we will be leaving next Saturday! One more week of work. Can't wait. :rolleyes1

You know, my first thought yesterday when I heard about that big wave that hit the cruise ship over by Spain was of you and Joanne! Doesn't your cruise leave from Barcelona? Man, how freaky was that.

Sue - glad to hear your DH and DS had a fun day yesterday. And about those boys growing up, isn't it amazing? I mean they go from little boy one day to a young man the next. Even though I don't have any boys, it has been fun watching the boys in the girls' classes grow up. And my girls are growing up too. It is just shocking.

Well, we are anticipating much melting over the weekend. It is to be up in the 40's. :yay: Hopefully our driveway will melt and it will be easier to get up and down. I'm just thankful we are on the downhill side of winter now.

Have a wonderful day! :flower3:
