09/13/09 SSMC09 S.S. Member Cruise 2009 - Part 4!

Flo - too bad you are in the path of this storm. They now have it staying south of us. Maybe we will get a little but nothing much. Thank goodness. Stay safe out there.

Chris,

With all the snow you ahve gotten you guys deserve a break.;)

Good morning, everyone. We are also supposed to have 50 degree temps today. That will make for a lot of melting around here, which will be a good thing because the huge piles of snow in the street make it very hard to see cars coming from the side streets. One of my DDs works for Geico and she said that's the biggest cause of accidents right now.

Hey, Flash, good to hear from you. We're all pretty well (OK, most of us have colds courtesy of DGD21mos, but this is the first cold she's ever had, so no complaints there).

Again, everyone stay safe and warm.

Joanne - Wow 21 mons that is great? Feel better.

Joanne - Wow 21 mons that is great? Feel better.

I know; we've been very lucky w/her (plus she's not around a lot of little kids much, so that's probably been the big difference).

Thanks for the get-well wishes. :flower3:

:wave2: DIS Friends

Just checking in to see what everyone has been up to lately and let you know I am thinking of you all

Mary - :cheer2: So happy for you. That is great news!!

No time to respond to everyone individually.

I'm very tired and need to get to bed. I have to go in the office all this week for onsite meetings with the auditors.

Had a very busy weekend. Scouts from my den came over today and we worked on centerpieces for the Blue & Gold Banquet. Just a week away until our banquet. Keeping my fingers crossed that we do not get snowed out. Last year's banquet got snowed out and we had to reschedule.

Hope everyone stays healthy and safe.

:flower3:

Good Morning all of my friends!! :flower3:

Well, it looks like yesterday was the chatty day! Sorry I was busy with a bunch of stuff - nothing too major - but all just strung together took up the whole day!

We're supposed to get heavy rain today, no snow! But I don't really like cold rain either, so I wonder which is worse! Maybe another Nor'easter at the end of the week, but we'll see.

Dustin finally got to one of his rehearsals for All-South Jersey Band last week and had a great time. He has so great music to play, including the Olympic Fanfare, which is very fast - I'm sure that if any of you are watching the Olympics on TV, you've heard it!

We've been watching alot of the Olympics - I really enjoy it. Anybody else been following along?

Hey Flash - nice to hear from you! Glad all is well in your neck of the woods! No, unfortunately I'm not walking this year. My niece who always does it with me is pregnant and having the baby in June. So she wanted a year off - understandably - and I thought it might be a good idea to give my regular contributors a year off. I've been really fortunate to have a group of friends and family who have supported me for the last five years that I have done the 3Day, and they said that they would again next year. I will miss it very much, however! The ads have been running here on the TV and the radio, and every time I hear it, I think - well, maybe.

DB and DSIL are in WDW now - hope they are having a good time!

Lisa, have lots of fun at your last B&G! I've been very busy this past week because I've been producing the B&G ad booklet for the pack here in Pine Hill - I've done it for them for the last few years. Their banquet is on Saturday too. Hope the weather holds off!

Well, have to go wash the camo out of my hair!!! :lmao:
Be back in a little while - where is everyone this morning?

Good Morning all, I hope you all have a great day, does anyone have any plans?

Tonight I am particpating in a Crazy Bowl for CMN with alot of people from work, wish me luck!

I my self are thinking about starting my own little business making Fish Extenders and selling them on E-bay for now, what do you think? any suggestions.

Good lusk with the Fish Extenders & Crazy bowl.

Good Morning all of my friends!! :flower3:

That's great that Dustin finally got to practice with the band. :thumbsup2

I'm watching the Olympics too! I have it on everynight. As a matter of fact, ski jumping is on now.

Sue - Yes we watch the onlympics. The winters are my favorate. Have fun Dustin. Hope Camo comes out good.

Lisa - Glad you dropedin. Hope the Blue and gold comes off.:wizard:

Hi Eveyrone else.

Hi everyone! A friend of mine asked me a question and I don't know the answer. Yes, I checked allears and they have the answer but it doesn't make sense to me.

So, my friend normally buys 10 MYW passes with no expiration. She is considering adding the waterparks & more this year but is trying to understand what she will get.

So the questions are:
1) With the MYW 10 day, no expiration, no hopping with waterparks & more, how many days do you get at the water parks, etc?
2) When do the water park & more days expire?
3) Is the price really only about $40 more than the pass without waterparks? that doesn't seem right.

From reading allearsnet, it seems like she would get 10 visits to a waterpark, Disney Quest, etc. It also seems to be that these days won't expire. So even if you use all 10 park days the waterpark part is still valid? Also only $40 total per ticket seems strange since 1 day at a waterpark is about that or more.

Been out on Facebook for a little while trying to catch up with some friends. Figured I would check in here to say Hi!

Hi Sue!
Nothing fancy planned for the Blue & Gold. Trying to keep the costs down to a minimum. Banquet is Monday night (3/1) and DS's first Scout meeting is on Tuesday (3/2). DD is patiently waiting for cub scouts to end so she can start Daisies. The insanity :scared1:...when does it end. :lmao:

But, on a good note. I keep getting mixed up with the date of my 1st night of class this semester. In my head I had it as 3/3 but the calendar had 3/10. Checked the university's website and it is 3/10. So I get a whole extra week for a break than what I have been planning on. :cool1:

Oh, his new troop is planning a cabin camping trip to Deer Woods in the Pine Barrens in March. Why couldn't I have had cabin camping with the cub scouts? Is there a cabin for mothers?? I will have to investigate this one. I also see a Spring Camporee at Camp Grice in April. They are also planning a 7 day summer camp at Camp Tuckahoe in July. The only place I am familiar with of these is Camp Grice. You'll have to keep me informed of Dustins outings. I wonder if there is a chance they will ever meet up at any events. I have always participated with DS on his camping adventures so it should be interesting when he goes on his own for the first time.

Hi Flo!!
Thanks! Hope all is going well with you.

Hi Dave!!
Is the snow heading your way this time? I have not even turned on the TV today but as of last night a storm was coming but they did not know yet where it would hit. Here or up your way. I know you are really sad about us getting all your snow this year so I really hope it comes your way. I'll keep my fingers crossed for us both. And here's a little pixie dust just in case pixiedust: If I see one more snow flake I think I will cry.

Can you believe we are going snow tubing at Blue Mountain (PA) on 3/6 as a scout event? Never made it on prior trips but of course this year would be the one I plan for....the year we have seen more than our share of snow. But, apparently not enough as I will be :drive:like 2 hours to go play in more. :rotfl2: Should be fun though.

Have a good night. I am falling asleep at the keyboard but that is better than falling asleep at the wheel I guess.

Take care!
Lisa

Good Morning All!!

Lisa- We only got an inch or two and it has been rain ever since. Just hasn't worked in our favor this year.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone! :wave2:

Chris - Am I reading that right....are you just 15 days away from going back to Disney? How many trips is that since the cruise? That's not fair! :headache: Oh how I wish I were going with you.

Dave - We've had a little snow off and on through out the day but nothing that is sticking around. Thank goodness. Keeping my fingers crossed that it stays that way over night.

Take care everyone and have a fun and safe weekend.

Just think there's only about 254 days (if call in is on 11/6) until we book SSMC11. :cloud9: :cool1::thumbsup2:banana::yay::woohoo::dance3:

Hi everyone! I hope that you all have a great weekend!

And for all the east coasters, I hope that you made it through this last storm. Although there was lots of snow south of us, up here in NH we got lots of rain and wind!!!! The wind last night was really nasty, apparently in the 50-60mph range or maybe more.
I was lucky and didn't lose power for more than a few seconds, but this morning there were apparently 300,000 people without power here in NH. :scared1:

Well, let's see. We went to WDW after the cruise until Sunday. Then DH couldn't stand missing out on Food & Wine fest so we went down for a weekend in November. Then DH just had to get away in January, so we went down for a weekend then (which we lucked out on the weather while there because it was gorgeous that weekend and not cold!) Do you see a trend here with DH? :lmao: He just loves Disney.

And now we are leaving two weeks from today! First we have to go to our oldest daughters last Show Choir competition in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. We are excited about that. At the last competition she got an outstanding soloist award. :woohoo: During the show DD and another girl have a solo/duet before the rest of the group joins in. It is really good, but then again I'm mom and you know how us mom's are:rotfl: So we are going to be leaving as soon as we can when she is done.

We are driving this time and hope to make St. Louis that night. Then on Sunday we want to get to Valdosta, Georgia, if not further. Then Monday morning be pulling in to Wilderness Lodge by 10:00 or so.

So, to answer your question Lisa, it looks like we have been/will be there 3 times since the cruise. But after this trip we won't be going back until September for the Member's Cruise. Once the weather turns nice here at home we like to stay here. We have a nice pool and just like being home during the Spring/Summer.

Good Sunday Morning.

Hope those of you out East are surviving this last storm that hit your area. Man, this winter is brutal! Stay safe.

Have a question for those of you that have driven to WDW before and take food to eat on the road, what kind of foods do you take? We are looking for new ideas besides the usual ham sandwiches.

Thanks for any ideas you could give.

Have a great day! :flower3:

Chris, When we drive (which is most of the time now) we just bring snacks for the car. For eating we tend to stop (briefly) at places we can't get around here. We love going to Sonic. Not sure if they have that out by you but you drive into a stall, order from the men there and a car hop brings it out to you. Our stop is usually only about 15-20 minutes. Another favorite is Chick-fil-a especially for breakfast. They have these chicken mini's (chicken nuggest in small bite size biscuits) yum! That is a drive through for us and we keep on going.

Not sure that is what you were looking for but hope it helps.

Thanks Mary. We usually just have stuff in the vehicle and eat as we go down the road. We only stop for gas and potty breaks. We went to Sam's and picked up some stuff today. Chips/Muffins/Wine/Water, etc. Oh, the wine is for after we are done driving for the day or when we get to Disney, not while driving :rotfl2:.

And some folks were asking about you on this year's member cruise thread. They asked if you guys were going to be on it. I told them sadly no. You will be missed!

I was just going through my 2007 Member Cruise pictures and in this photo is that Linda--Seaulater--I believe, sitting behind us? If it is, I can't believe how close we were then and never met. And then we did meet in 2009.

Thanks for letting me know. I don't read that thread so I'll have to go check it out. Edited to add - just read and saw it was Mandy (aka Cobbler who then sent me a pm). Thanks for the kind words! I answered Mandy in the pm since I don't want to hijack the 2010 thread since I'm not going.
