Happy Birthday Jim

DH of NYJets20032

JIm says thank you for the birthday wishes.

Wow you sure were a chatty bunch while I was at work. I hit the multi-quote key as I went along so if I'm answering some already answered sorry.

I think it was St Thomas that we watched from the balconey people running for the ship. I thought why would you cut your time so close to have to hope they waited for you. To much stress for me. I want to be on the ship in plenty of time so I can relax and enjoy.

Our funniest was on the 10 day in 2004. We were in St. Martin and had gotten ready a little early for dinner so we were out on deck 4. They had already called all aboard and had been paging one woman for a good 1/2 hour or more. They had already pulled in the gang ways and we were about to leave when she came running up the dock loaded down with packages. Then she stopped and stomped her foot demanding that they put the walkway back out. No dice. She had to throw her packages to the crew and they took her by the arms and helped her jump across the small gap. Some friends on late dining called her the princess because of how she dressed each night and had to make an entrance and I guess she really pitched a fit that night.

Have you ever been on a cruise in sept. How is the weather at castaway cay and how about the water temp

We've done a couple of Member Cruises in September. Last year the water was wonderful. In 2005 Hurricane Ophelia had just gone through. The water was very high on Serenity Bay but you couldn't see anything because all the sand was churned up. That is the cruise we got diverted to Ft. Lauderdale at the end and bussed back to Port Canaveral.

does disney do special things on the island for the members cruise or is it pretty much the same as regular cruise

Kind of hit or miss. In 2003 they left DVC Beach Balls all over the family beach to take. It was fun. In 2006 they tried something by leaving us a message in a bottle the night before saying there would be special rocks out on CC. Problem was some greedy guy was one of the first off and raced down the beach picking up about 3/4 of the rocks. Kind of spoiled it for everyone else.

Other than that they do have signs up that say welcome home and that members have taken over the island. In addition they do the group picture which is then delivered to your stateroom that night as one of your gifts.

Congrats to Sue on the :bride:

Congrats to Marsha on the pirate:

BTW I got a note on Facebook from Andy (aka Verandah Man) asking if we wanted screen shots taken of sailaway. Andy has done this for us for a number of cruises which is so sweet of him. I said of course! So as long as his calendar stays clear he's going to grab us some shots!

Thanks Andy! :thumbsup2

Just a quick note to the people I sailed with last year. We had to put my best four-legged buddy Rolo down last Friday. He was 13 years old. He got very ill very fast. We miss him like crazy.

I feel your pain. We had to put down our blond golden retriever Sebastian on August 11th. He was 17 years old. The only dog our daughter Jamie has ever known. He is now up in doggie heaven chasing those bunnies he kept dreaming about at night! I keep looking around the house for him and then remember he is gone. I am still vacuuming that golden retriever hair though.

We miss him terribly!

THe last time we were at Disney we were at SSR and did not go to the parks once. We went to Down Town Disney and I got my fix that way. My mom does not understand why we keep going back either.

I have an annual pass. On August 11 flew in for the Wonder cruise on the 13th. Went to a friends home for a pre-cruise party on the 12th. Then we walked over to Epcot, they went to dinner and I walked around the lake, watched the fireworks, and then headed back to OKW. Then headed to the ship on Thursday a.m. On Sunday, went to Saratoga Springs and relaxed all day, headed out to Downtown Disney at 7:30 p.m. went to Earl of Sandwich, then walked back to condo for the 8 p.m. showing of Big Brother. Pretty sad huh? All the way across the country and I watch Big Brother in my room! (I had a 7 a.m. flight Monday morning though, so had to be on the ME early!)

The water at CC on Saturday August 15 had to be in the 80's. It was really nice, not even cold and it was low tide so you could walk out on the adult beach forever.

The temperature was hot and humid. Hopefully, it will only be in the high 80's to low 90's when we are there next month and not as humid.

That story about the "princess" arriving late is really funny. I would have loved to see her jump for it!

I remember on the '05 there were also beach balls around because DS had one. I have a picture of him holding it. And I vividly remember waking up, going out onto our verandah, and telling my DH that something was definitely different about where we had pulled in on Sunday morning! That was a long bus ride back, especially with the crying kiddies behind us! :headache:

Thanks for the congrats!

That is so cool! Will we be able to copy it off the thread?

To Funny! I was going to send him an e mail before the cruise asking him if he was not busy if he could do this. He beat me to it. He is so sweet.

thanks Andy!

Nothing wrong with going to watch Big Brother. It is good this year and you never know what is goingto happen. The 2 hour end is when we are on the SSM09. I am setting my DVR for that. I for sure do not want to miss that. Not that I don't know what is happening befre it happens because of the spoilers. How about Chima!

So So sorry about your doggie! Thoughts are with you. It has been over a year and I keep calling the new puppy by his name. It is not easy. But like you said they are in doggie heaven.

Just poppin in to say HI and that we will be on the 3 day cruise right before the Member Cruise. We will make sure that its in perfect condition for all of you :)

Mary,

I love the story about the lady missing the ship. I would have loved to watch that. It had to give everyone a good laugh.

Linda, I'm so sorry about Sebastian. I guess most of us have lost a beloved pet or two. It really takes a long time to get over the loss, because they were always right there, usually right under your feet!

I had a close call with my cat Belle on Sunday. I had put one of those flea treatments on the back of her neck, and she had a really bad reaction to it. I thought I was going to have to rush her to the vet. But I washed as much of it off as I could and that seemed to help. Monday morning she seemed more like herself and today she seems fine. Really scared me though. We had to put the dog down more than a year ago and she is all I have right now.

Oh my heck! How are you guys! Wish you were cruising on the member cruise with us. Do you have any more cruise plans in the future?

Mary, that is too funny, I was thinking the exact same thing about the "princess" on the 2004 Christmas Cruise. I remember she had the stateroom host up until like 3 a.m. because she was still packing all her "formal gowns" the last night. I swear, she had 30 pieces of luggage. Every night at dinner she would order her food and then head out in the atrium in her "gown" to get Shutters to take her picture. I felt bad for her server/asst. server. By the time she returned to the dining room, we were already on dessert. I heard her say that one of the store owners told her that the Magic left later from the port than what they told her on the ship and that the store owner was her friend, so he knew the time and the person on the ship that was mad at her was "wrong", we shouldn't have been leaving port early.

Some people and their kids....................

Sorry you didn't get a rock. I was lucky enough to find one on the bike path. I have it in my curio cabinet. Too bad that one guy got them all, you would have thought we were getting some great prize. I think my DVC hat is in the closet with the other 20 I have :rotfl:

Hi guys! Wish you were cruising with us. So close and yet so far away. I still remember the night we had dinner with you and Jim Lewis in the private room at Palo.

I know you asked Dianne but I do like Facebook. It is a way of keeping in touch with family and friends. Plus, you can set your privacy settings so that it will be a little more secure. And, the games are quite addictive and free. I play Farm Town and Mafia Wars.

Ditto

The easiest way to find people is through their email address, especially, if they have a common name.

How true

Congrats to Flo on the :bride:

Congrats to Chris on the pirate:

Congrats from me too.

So sorry, we most likely will have to do the same shortly...sorry for you loss.

By the way, Flo, got the hair cut today and boy is it short! DH is not going to be happy!! But it feels really good, and cool too.

I know what you mean DH likes long hair also, mine is short, but not real short. need to be cool and comfortable.

Congrats Sue on the :bride: and Marsha on the pirate:

Congrats wow I missed alot...

Question:

Did anyone else have to sign for their cruise documents from UPS? Ours came, no problem and even though I happen to be home at the time, he just left them in the door. My DBFF Gail got home yesterday to find one of those slips stuck on the door that says we were here and the she had to sign for her package. I have to call her and see if she got them today. Does everyone else have their documents? :confused3

Wow, 12 pages today! I am sure that I missed something but here goes:

Robbie-I booked a car for a week for this trip and it was $190, I tried to book one for December and they wanted $1800. Talk about taking advantage of people!! I ended up getting a "comped" car thru Hertz for free:cool1:

Wow $1800??? I prefer Hertz (Love my #1 club gold) but their prices are jsut way to high even with the AAA discount. That is so cool that you were able to get a comped car!

Happy Birthday Jim

I agree with you. I love the games! It is also neat to be able to keep up with everyone.

I didn't have to sign for mine. They were left in my door while I was out at lunch.

Sandi was on the DCL site this morning and she couldn't find Verizon Wireless listed as a cell phone provider. Does anyone know is Verizon phones will work on the cruise?
