Okay, so I guess this is a good time to try and bring everyone up to speed on this past week's big event.
I typed this up last night but then lost it. SO....here it goes.
Last Wednesday night when I got home from class my DS comes running to greet me. He say....come on mom, you have to see something. I happened to notice a pair of scissors on the kitchen table and my first thought was....Oh no, DD was playing hairdressed again.
DS say..Mom, you may not be happy about this. Then I think ...oh maybe she really did cut her hair.
I walk out into the family room and there is a very tiny kitten sitting in their fathers lap.
Apparently, earlier in the day while I was at work they were all in the pool. They kept heating something that sounded like a cry. They looked all around on the ground, up in the tree, not luck. Their dad went into the shed to see if there was something in there. Nope. But, as he was walking out he glanced down and noticed something move down under the ramp next to the shed. He had to take the whole thing up because the kitten is stuck. Not sure how long it was out there in the 90 degree temps but they were able to rescue it. They went to the pet store and bought some Kitten Milk Replacement (KMR) and a nursing bottle.
The next day kids and I took it by the vets and he estimated it was about 3 1/2 weeks old. It was the cutest thing but we did not know if it would even survive. I asked about feeding it and getting the fleas off. Well, the vet told us if we did not get the fleas off that they would suck all it's blood out in 2-3 days. The kids heard that and

. So, off we go to the pet store for a flea comb and then to the grocery store for rubbing alcohol. Rubbing alcohol works great on the fleas. Any other chemicals would poison the kitten. We had to be real careful using it though. Dipped comb in alcohol and then brushed kitten. So, after 3 days of working on it I thought we had gotten them all.....(but found 2 more tonight).
It is like having a newborn baby only without diapers. I was doing

everyday to wash the towels and blankets used for the kitten. He has to be fed every 3-4 hours. Of all weeks to have this happen it had to be the week my final project is due. Hey, it was nice having company with me when I worked through the night a couple of evenings.
Now I am not sure if some of you recall but my DD is allergic to pets. She has been pretty good so far. Only a few times where she seemed to be bothered. We shall see. She wants to keep him so badly that she is now telling me she does not need her allergy meds.
They named him Mittens because he is black with just a little touch of brown streaks and white paws. He looks like he is wearing mittens.
He is doing much better but still not sure how he will be long term. He is just so cute.
