No iphone, but I bought an ipod touch today...same thing, no phone...now I have to figure out how to use it...bad part of being empty nesters...no young person to show you how to use these gadgets...years ago when VCR's first came out, ours sat in a box for 6 months because DH had no idea how to set it up:rotfl2:. Can you imagine him with the iphone!! That would be a waste of money...it does so much!

Susan,

Hope once you get your I Pod touch set up you will love it as much as I do. I have the 8g and I want the 16. I want more room. I have allot of music and games on it. I also have movies and tv shows on it. When We were on are way to CA for the west coast cruise last year I watched cartoons and Bones. Have fun with it. My favorate game on it is MOnopoly

Thanks everyone for your kind words about my past situation with my daughter. Sometimes I have to think back on those days and just remember how bad it could have been and how blessed I am to have her in my life.

My oldest daughter said a very odd thing to me...she said she was being philosophical and thought that as you get older you love your children less...I said, "WHAT?" and she said, "Well, I look at Nicholas and you don't love me the way I love him." My response was, "Well, I can't very well pick you up, hold you in my lap, hold you close and kiss you all night, now can I?" and she laughed. I went on to tell her that loving a child means that you have to let go...you have to give that child the feeling that they can be independent and not dependent on you. "The first day you went off to school, I wanted to hold you and tell you how much I would miss you and how much I want to be there with you, but instead, I had to think of your little feelings, and tell you how special you were, and how much fun you were going to have riding the bus and being with new kids. And as the bus drove off, tears streamed down my face." She remembered then how everytime I took her to the train station when she was in college that I would just cry and cry...and she said she didn't know why I was crying when she would be back again next week. I told her that was because I instilled in her a sense of well being, maturity, and independence. That is what love is, being able to let go, to stand back and just admire that beautiful young woman I once held so close....

Susan- how true, you hope you raise them with enough confidience to be independent and the sense to make correct choices. Your story really shows how a parents love and Gods will can make things right. You sound like a very amazing person.

If you were closer I would share some of my birthday cake with you that DH brought me. It is chocolate cake with chocolate icing. DS and I had some after dinner and it was delish. He had chocolate all over his face and kept saying "I like chocolate." He is a boy after my own heart.

You haven't had chocaolate cake until you've had chocolate cake from Portillo's!! they have the BEST chocolate cake in the world!! Yum. In fact, I'd really like some now..... :rotfl:

What a beautiful response, Sue, and so true. I completely agree w/Dave.

I'm such a tech dummy that I only use my phone to phone :rotfl2: . Oh, and I recently discovered that it has an alarm, which is very useful.

Congrats again to our pirate and bride (Dave, we know it was you ;) ) winners.

Susan, how true, how true! Because both of my older boys are living in NC, people say to me why are you always happy when you talk about them - don't you wish they were closest, here? My response is so easy - well, yes, of course, I wish they were a little closer so that I could see them face to face more often. But how in the world can I complain! The oldest is married to his high school sweetie, has his BS in Forestry Technology & Environment, his MA in Outdoor Recreation & environment, has a fantastic job as a Park Ranger (outdoors where we loves it) with the US Army Corp of Engineers and has a house and a multitude of pets!! The middle one has his BS in Business, with his PGA Certification and is working as the second asst. at the Highlands, an exclusive golf course in a beautiful area near the mountains. Better yet, he is 4 1/2 years a cancer survivor!! Do I miss them - yup, every single minute of every day. But I am so very, very proud of them - they have become amazing men, right before my eyes!

I still have the little one at home - so I squeeze him and hug him to death! :rotfl:

You Susans are making me choke up. I am lucky enough to have all 3 of my DDs w/i an hour's drive.

The Wonder is moving on the Radisson cam!

Am I all by myself watching the ship?

Man, I wish we were all aboard w/fufu drinks! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Congrats on the pirate.

I am struggling with what too pack to. I am trying not to bring too many clothes but I am having issues. Can I wear dressy capris to dinner? I am having such a hard time finding summer dresses. Since I am in suits during the work week, I do not have too many dresses. I like to be casual on the weekends.

I think I will end up bringing at least 5 tops. But, I don't know.

This is soo funny that you posted this, because I have been so focused on what to bring my kids, that I forgot all about me. I will bring a couple pairs of capris, and a pair of pants- but that is it. I don't have many dresses- unless you'd like me to pack my wedding dress!! :rotfl: the one dress I'm bringing will be for Palos.

My partner used to work for Godiva as a store manager. We still have too much chocolate around the house.

TOO MUCH chocolate?!?!? Is there such a thing? In fact, all this talk of chocolate made me go upstairs and cut the head off of a chocolate bunny I had stashed in my freezer! :woohoo:

Susan,

Were did you hear they are rasing the price of luggage on the air lines? I did not hear that. Now I have to go check United. In fact United is giving a 4.00 discount per bag if when you check in on line you check your baggage so they are in the system. Guess what we are doing.

I think right now the people that are taking Southwest are the luckey ones. They still don't charge. But for us the price was about the same for the tickets.

I heard that it was for international flights.... not sure which carriers though. We're taking Southwest down, so I'm bringing everything!! :lmao:

Jut saw her pass on the Cocoa Beach cam. Two Palms is next?

Oh, that was great! No fufu drink this time, though. Got my DGD1 in my care. We both waved to the ship and said bye.

Well that was nice - but I like our Sunday Sailaway Parties better!! More people were on then! Everyone was posting so fast, is was funny! :goodvibes

You haven't had chocaolate cake until you've had chocolate cake from Portillo's!! they have the BEST chocolate cake in the world!! Yum. In fact, I'd really like some now..... :rotfl:

Funny you should say that. I had Portillos for lunch today. We didn't get any cake but that had a full one sitting on the counter and I told my friend we should just grab it. :)

I listen to people complain about the Disney buses all the time, but I am glad we really haven't experienced it. It's either that, or we just have more patience than some others. After all, it is a huge complex to get around and you do have to have SOME patience to begin with.

I have never had a problem with the disney buses. I think they are great. The only thing I don't like, is that it never feels like there are enough running at the end of the day when the parks are closing, and your carrying sleeping kids etc, then waiting in line with the other million people that were at the park! But that is the case too- if we're the only ones waiting for the bus, and the kids have reached melt- down points!! ha! and getting to the boardwalk/yacht club etc is kind of annoying because of all of the stops the bus makes. they could really seperate those hotel stops and run a bit more efficiently- in my opinion!! but, overall- love the buses!

first, thanks to all for the warm welcome. Another dis member tried to assist me early on but one thing or another prevented me from continuing communication. Now i'm back ( i hope )

i am new to dvc and just got booked on the cruise. I've been to disney many, many times. I am in the st pete/clearwater area (next to tampa).

I've made plans to tour kennedy space center saturday and will be at the hilton cocoa beach. It is unlikely that i will be able to meet you and your friends until cruising time.
I am still working out last minute details for this trip ( lots of factors to factor in )

any suggestions for me to help with my cruise planning? Like excursions i shouldn't miss out on or should pass up? Clothing i should or shouldn't pack? Besides the meet, how does your group work -- do you guys split and do your own things during the cruise and then meet up again at the end of the day to share?
Am i asking too many questions?

Alright, i'll let you be. Although i'm scared to logout as it seems a lot happens when i'm away

Welcome! I hope you do stick around- this group has been a wealth of information for me- I'm a first time cruiser, but aDVC and Disney fan for many many years. Some of the people in the group will probably spend more time together than others, depending on who they are traveling with etc. there is a link on the first page that has meeting times/places on there- it is also a goldmine of information!

Everyone is out here chatting a lot! I think everyone is excited to be sooo close now, and we are all getting to know each other- it will be like meeting up with old friends once we are on the cruise.

good luck- and post any questions- even if they have already been answered, everyone is really good about getting the right information back to you- and fast!

we are leaving that friday night at 6 15 from midway

We are leaving at noon on thursday!! Happy Dance!!:banana:

**I bought my hubby an Ipod thingie, and have no idea how to use it- but he certainly LOVES it!! I'm the one that would be leaving something in a box for months..... **

My eight year old thinks the same thing- because I don't carry her around or snuggle with her like I do my boys. she doesn't remember me eating her up when she was pint size! Now she's almost as tall as I am- and it wouldn't be very comfortable for either of us now!! :rotfl:

My hubby is ADDICTED to monopoly!! Oh my goodness- he is ruthless when he plays that game- I won't even play with him anymore if Monoply is on the table!! :scared1: He becomes a ruthless banker!! :lmao:

I still have the little one at home - so I squeeze him and hug him to death! :rotfl:

Me too!! Love those snuggles! I won't know what to do when they get too big for them!!

Just finished painting DS room. It is now very blue! But I bought material for curtains that has all the Navy symbols and ships and planes, and the background of that is different shades of blue, so it looks nice. Now all I have to do is the trim, in a very light gray, and actually make the curtains. He'll be a happy clam when I'm done, that's for sure. :yay:
