From Doc on the DVC boards. As expected the boards are going dark later today in honor of Caskbill.

Thanks for letting us know Mary.

It is only right that they do this.

Giving us a bump back to page 1. That should make us easier to find once the boards come back up later tonight.

Good morning everyone! Happy Tuesday!

Well I had a set-back yesterday as it was supposed to be chemo day for me. Unfortunately my platelets were too low and I couldn't have it and had to reschedule for next Monday. Hopefully this will be the only set-back because I really want to be finished by cruise time.

:love::grouphug:
Mary, praying for you and hope those counts come up.
You have such a great outlook. I really admire you.
Susan

Favorite Disney Character: Susan - Mickey, Tigger at the parks, but he isn't a creation of Disney...so Mickey would be the one
Bob - Mickey, particularly Steam Boat Willie

Favorite Disney Movie: Susan - Beauty and the Beast
Bob - 20 Thousand Leagues Under The Sea

I think that's a Disney movie...if it isn't let me know, and I will ask him.
I know that's a favorite of his.

Nobody really has a well written out menu, mostly because Palo doesn't have a written one either.

Palo Brunch is a chef creation thing.
It is in two stages, that you will be toured past before being seated.

First up is a number of buffet islands,
-one of seafood which has a very wide selection including shrimp, crab, etc. This is the *only* place on board you will find the extra large already cooked and peeled shrimp. Yes, I'm one of those people who is more fussy and don't enjoy the peeling part. :p
-one of breakfast items including the most incredible bread onboard, Stollen, which you need to make sure you put on some whipped cream and preserves.
-one of cheese and sliced meats.
-and one of decadent desserts. :)

Second stage,
You will also be toured past the plate items, that you order for arrival after you've finished from the buffet. There is a selection of both breakfast and dinner choices, and the pizzas(I think).

Now, one thing to be aware of with Palo and the pizzas. I know they get rave reviews, and they are excellent. But especially for the midwest and east coasters, you need to disconnect the word pizza as you know it. What they call pizza in Italy is a very distant cousin from what we're used to from the local restaurant or the freezer case.

Thank you. We have ressies for brunch and dinner but were thinking about cancelling one of them. Now, I do not know. That menu sounds yummy! And, I am with you, I do not like peeling shrimp but will if I have to.

Palo Brunch - yum!

The desserts look delectable.

Well congrats to everyone whom got what they wanted.

Sorry to those whom had all the problems.

We could not even attempt, since this our first Disney Cruise.

Hope you all, left some fun stuff for us to book.

Oh well, DH update,,he is doing very well. He should be able to give up the walker and move to a cane on Friday.

Glad DH is doing better and progressing well.

Good morning everyone! Happy Tuesday!

Mary, you are in my prayers. I hope that you will be able to finish the chemo by the cruise. Stay positive.

Grandson is doing well most of the time..He got in trouble the other day. He invaded DS room when he wasn't there and did not have permission to use the x-box. he played some games that we feel were not for his age group, He knew it was wrong and did it anyway. I made him think of his own punishment. So its 2 days of no electronics and he is reading book 4 of Harry Potter. So I guess, I need to find the 5th book soon, he read 200 pages today.

Good morning everyone! Happy Tuesday!

Chances are there will be Palo dinner still available at the 75 day mark but not brunch. Remember that they hold a lot back for booking on boarding day. Plus honestly as much as I love Palo brunch I wouldn't call Palo a "must do". We didn't do Palo until our 4th cruise and I don't regret it for a minute. As a first time cruiser there is so much to experience on the cruise I wouldn't stress if you do miss Palo.

There really isn't a "dress up" night on the cruise unless DVC creates one. I think it was 2007 with the Legends that they had the "Legends Ball" and quite frankly I thought it was a bust (the only one of that cruise). Those who book Palo dinner usually dress up more than those eating in the dining room.

We go with Dockers/Polo shirts for Mark and nice slacks/tops for me. We have pirate t-shirts we wear on pirate night.

Hope this helps!

Mary so sorry to hear, I am sending some pixie dust your way. pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

Dianne,

God Bless him for thinking of that punishment. I don't think I could go 2 days without electronics even with reading.

Glad it going well most of the time.

My granddaughter learned the cutest song at daycare called "Flo"
and everytime she sings it, I think of you, Flo. I will have to sing it for you on the cruise...it is funny.

Anyone who has done the couple's massage on the beach...is it worth the money? DH always asks why we don't get a massage...I tell him because I can give you one for free! Can't anymore with my new knees...can't kneel at all..tried to get a shoe under my bed and OOOOOOUUUUUCCCCHHHH, so I signed us up for the couple's massage...I hope I am not to sweaty...I thought it sounded relaxing...and I need to relax.

Also, I have always eaten lunch down at the adult beach...I have read that Cookies, the family lunch area is better...is it?

Mary, I love your trip reports. The pictures are so good.

Don't anyone laugh at my HUGE scars on my knees...I look like Frankenstein.
Well, it's ok if you laugh, as long as you laugh with me. I make fun of myself all the time.

I have to look at the photos so I can put a name with faces by the time our cruise comes along. I have to find a photo of DH and me...I take all of the pics and so it is rare to have one of me.

Flo. we arrive on Fri 9/11 at around noon. So we are going over to VWL for two nights. I am getting the deluxe dining plan and having dinner at Narcoose's and then Ca Grill. Breakfast at Ohana...never had breakfast there, but I hear it is good, and then the morning we leave for the cruise at the Whispering Canyon at WL. I thought it would be nice since DH and I have not had a vacation just the two of us for over a year...always have kids and grandkids with us.

Did anyone get a party bus to go to the port? Anyone have experience renting a car with Budget? I have always taken the Disney Cruise bus, but I am game for a new experience.

We are staying at the BCV when we get back from the cruise. We will not be going to the parks this trip...we are going to learn to relax and enjoy the resort...DH is type A and he is up at the crack of dawn wanting to get to the parks first and he has to see EVERYTHING...and we have been there probably 100 times now. We want to use his free military offer when we come back in Dec with the kids/grands, as we can get 5 day passes for $100. So, no sense even buying an AP with that kind of an offer. We'll get them next year.
I can't justify spending $70 to go to the park for one day...and besides it will be hot and I will need 2 or 3 showers a day!

Hi Susan,

I wouldn't worry too much about scars on your knees! I wear shorts the whole time on the ship and I have bad varicose veins and scars from vein surgery......I don't think anybody really cares too much!

We always like to have a massage, but I am not sure if I would like to have one on the beach because it might be too hot......I know they are very popular there, though. I like to have the hot stones massage on the ship. Also they have couples massage on the ship too.

Please do susan I would love to hear it.

Last time was the first time we ate at the adult beach. I liked it. We had steak and lobster. I know that is not at the family beach. It is also not at the adult beach all the time I am told. But I also like Cookies. I think they are both different but good.

Don't anyone laugh at my HUGE scars on my knees...I look like Frankenstein.

Susan, My DH has a big scare on his knee. He has a huge bole in it so I would not worry. Like you said if there is any laugh it will be with you not at you.:)

We don't arrive on the 11th till about 9:00. We are taking a later flight. But at least we will have Sat. After the cruise we are going home, DH has to work on Friday. We were out there last year for a week at SSR and did not go to the parks. Had a great time relaxing.

Did anyone get a party bus to go to the port? Anyone have experience renting a car with Budget? I have always taken the Disney Cruise bus, but I am game for a new experience.

We are taking the magical express to port and then port to airport. It was 70. per person round trip. I priced out limo's and taking the Magical express for us we cheaper.

I agree 70 for a day is to much. That is why we are not doing the parks. Maybe if I was working it would be a different story.

Susan

Take care and have a good evening.
