09/12/10 - DVCers Take Over the Wonder (S.S. Member Cruise 2010) - Thread #2

I have finally started my TR! It is slow going since work has been so hectic but at least I started it. I am following along with Debbie on her TR which is very good. If anyone else is doing a TR, let me know.

Marsha, I agree with your idea of us doing our own member cruise.

This being my first time, I did think the gifts would be better and something that would wow me and make me want to do it again. The cruise is costly, but nothing made me say wow I want to do it again. I can do a regular cruise and pay less. This cruise was Great, because I met all of you. I don't know if any one else felt this way, but I looked forward to the FE gifts then I did to the gifts from the cruise.

Also did any one send postcards, i sent postcards on Monday and it has been almost 2 weeks and no one has gotten their cards. I sent out 20.

Merissa, I understand how you feel. Nothing this year really wowed me. I would do the member cruise again though if the timing was right. But, next year we will be sailing on the Dream Aug. 16 & also will be planning a trip for April 2012 for Charles' 5th b-day. If anyone will be on those cruise, please let me know. Plus, I am always willing to plan more Disney vacations.

Great news...I just checked and our waitlist for our April trip came through...we will be staying at Kidani...we are on a quest to stay at all the DVCs!!!

Congratulations! You will love it! We stayed at Kidani after the cruise.

Michael & Ian - love the photos of you guys with DVCeee and her daughter. I was gonna do it but didn't. They were so much fun to watch.

Well, we have decided that we are not going to be able to go on next year's Members Cruise. Most of my vacation is already spoken for for next year. Yes I have 15 days but we will be in Florida in March for Spring Break--our school goes to Florida every 4 years and this is the year they are going and I am not going to miss my kids marching down Main Street USA in their schools Marching Band --, in April I am going with our oldest DD on her Senior Trip to Philly/DC/NYC, then DH booked a Christmas Cruise while we were on the Members Cruise. Boom, all my vacation is spoken for. Plus, I'm sure we will try to squeeze a weekend in for Food & Wine or MNSSHP or both (hopefully at the same time).

Ian did you ever get your coffee at Epcot? Chuck and I came back looking for you and Laura to give you a ride back to OKW-I know your feet were killing you!

That just made me think, what if we all tried to meet up for the Halloween Party next year. Or try to plan to meet in the park at some point. Just a thought. Marsha I know I can't make the cruise next year, but keep me updated with the cruise for 2012.

Yes this is typical of Bahamian Postal Service ....... We have sent cards in the past and it has been anything from 4 weeks to 10 weeks to never to be seen again ......... It is truly a roll of the dice to weather the card make it

Makes the USPS look great ..........

I called and was told it could take up to 2 months for people to get the post cards. I didn't have that problem with them before so I just things have changed. I may be on another cruise by the time they get them

They are definitely going to have to cruise together again. That is so cute. Charles was asking if Molly was going to be a the beach and then at the pool.

Hi VICKI, First of all the shoes i was wearing were your favourite blue crocs i was wearing After I snuck up on the 2 of you at EPCOT i managed to get a coffee where you suggested. They were only place Thanks to wearing brand new walking shoes(not the blue crocs)I HAD BLISTERS ON BLISTERS Dont forget we passed each other at MK at the HALLOWEEN PARTY. We just got home from a DVC special event in Chicago. They had a fun little presentation with Dave & Nikki (the two that did the presentations on the ship) and afterwards they had a dance party with Mickey, Minnie, Pluto & Goofy. It was a lot of fun! Plus we got some freebies. We got a rice krispy treat (With the ears dipped in chocolate of course), we got a nice notebook binder, another blue bag (that they gave away on CC), binoculars, luggage tags, mickey shaped mouse pad. I think that's it.

They talked about Aulani a little bit. And something they didn't tell us on the cruise about Aulani is that they will have a kids area that is set up just like a beach house. They will show movies in there but only when it rains. And, of course, they will work their Disney magic and make it rain so they can play a movie as per the "we will only play a movie when it rains" rule.

We also learned that on next year's member cruise not only will they be celebrating the inaugural year for the Dream, they will also be celebrating DVC's TWENTY YEAR anniversary!!!! Sooooo....they're saying it's going to be an extra special members cruise. (I'm hoping that's not just a gimmick to get people back on after they've had bad reviews recently) And of course now Junior wants to go on that cruise instead of the one we have booked in October.


I'm super tired and need to get to bed, so I'll post some pictures tomorrow.

At least you could have put in a winning team and not embarrass me with the Leafs. I would have even accepted the Islanders even though they are really hated by Ranger fans. Good morning!! We spoke to Nikki on the cruise and she also told us that they have "big" plans for next years cruise due to the new ship and the 20 year anniversary.

Ok i should not be sad but I am. We are going back to WDW Dec. 28th for the holidays. We did not go last year and we were grumpy people so DW said we will not do that again. I am having WDW/DCL withdraw. I looked at pictures last night and we stated putting some in frames and I have to buy more ink for my printer...... I am kicking myself as things got hectic the last night and I forgot to get my print of the smoke stack with the fireworks in the background. UGGGGG. My mom has gone on several inagural cruises and she has given us the Ducky signed prints and that would have been a nice addition to that collection.

Friends are going on the Magic Jan 15 but there is no way I could get off those days. Kids cruise free and it would be cheap cheap cheap.

My DW and I had such a fun time. First vacation just the 2 of us since we had our first ds in 97 so it was weird at first trying to have an adult conversation vs. where do we have to be or what is DS1 doing and Where is DS2 going...... I would love to go back next Sept. but think my principal would kill me. I am considering it though. We want to bring our kids but with my DS going into HS that will not happen. I think I might try to plan our summer trip to end with a cruise. Have to start that now but with my DS2 travel baseball it could be crazy.

I am glad to hear postcards have not been delivered to anyone else as my kids keep on bugging me "did you really send them?"

Hi all...

Michael and I had the best time on the members cruise. It was very nice to meet you all. Just sorry that time went by so fast.

Thank you for the FE gifts. Loved them all.

Going through all our photos. I will be posting more soon. Feel free to copy any photo that we post.

We will be on the phone on Saturday for the call in for the members cruise 2011. For those who are calling in good luck...hope you get what you want!!!!!

Don't be sad! Maybe you can contact Shutters and try purchasing one via mail. This IS Disney we're talking about....they're ALWAYS glad to take your money!

Monika - we loved the Segway tour. The only problem was that I was wearing brand new gym shoes and my feet were hurting, and Junior had cramps in his legs from it. But I think that was from trying to stand on it and balance it for so long without moving. Once we actually got moving, it was ok. Except once when we had to "park" them, my handlebars were a little too high and I pulled it back towards me and bruised my leg and scuffed up my brand new shoes!
