09/12/10 - DVCers Take Over the Wonder (S.S. Member Cruise 2010) - Thread #2

Did anyone look at the prices for next years SS MEMBER Cruise? I compared it with the prices for the 4 day cruise the week before and I can cruise for like $1000 cheaper and afford a better room. What the heck, I am thinking the DVC cruise was not worth that kind of money since we want to bring some friends along.

Just curious as to everones views on this.

IS THIS RIGHT THE 4 DAY CRUISE ON EITHER SIDE IS CHEAPER. I KNOW THW 3 DAY CRUISE ON EITHER SIDE IS CHEAPER BECAUSE ITS SHORTER. I KNOW IT WAS ABOUT $950 per PERSON FOR OUR CABIN ON DECK 1 THIS YEAR ON MEMBER CRUISE. THIS WAS OUR FOURTH MEMBER CRUISE AND MOST FUN, NOT BECAUSE OF DVC EVENTS BUT BECAUSE OF ALL OF YOU AND OUR DINING MATES WE HAVE ALWAYS SAT WITH. I COULD ACT LIKE ME AROUND ALL OF YOUeven thou sometimes LAURA pinched me when i gabbed to much WE DONT GO TO THE DVC PRESENTATIONS ANYMORE. IM TALKING ABOUT THE THEATRE PRESENTATIONS WHERE THEY ARE TRYING TO CONVINCE YOU TO BUY MORE POINTS. THE REST IS GREAT WITH DUCKY AND BILL FARMER ETC. I ALSO TOLD DVC REPS THAT I WASNT THRILLED THEY DIDNT HAVE DVC MERCHANDISE SHIRTS TO BUY THIS CRUISE.
ALSO HAS ANYONE READ THE INFO ABOUT CALL IN, I WAS TOLD IT SAYS 1 BOOKING PER CALL IN. DOES THAT MEAN 3 FAMILIES CANT BOOK ON SAME CALL OR THE FAMILY THAT CALLS IN CAN ONLY BOOK 1 CABIN UNDER THERE NAME? LAST YEAR YOU COULD CALL IN AND THEN HAND THE PHONE TO THE OTHER COUPLE FOR THEM TO BOOK. TO ME IT SOUNDS LIKE SALES ARE DOWN ON THE SHIP BECAUSE OF ALL THE REPEAT CRUISERS SO THEY ARE TRYINGT TO GET NEED BLOOD ON THE SHIP. I WOULD LIKE YOUR OPINIONS ON THIS. BUT LIKE I SAID BEFORE FOR US HAVING ALL OF YOU ON THE CRUISE MADE THE CRUISE FANTASTIC. NOBODY RAN WHEN THEY SAW ME COMING I HAVE STORIES IM ALREADY TELLING FRIENDS ABOUT ALL OF YOU THAT WE MET!!!! I hadn't looked since I know we won't be going on the member cruise next year. So why don't you guys book the October 20th cruise with us!!!! (But we MIGHT have to change it when we get next school year's calendar)




OH NO! Sorry to hear about your troubles in Chicago! Southwest was having problems yesterday at the Orlando airport and the flight before ours was late departing which made ours a little late departing, but only about 10-15 minutes.

Debbie - I am saying prayers for you and sending for your boss' safety.

Our house is a complete nightmare - needs done - and I did some on the cruise and at BLT. We have all of our stuff spread all over the dining room table. I have to pay the bills - you would think I would do that first - it is just avoidance - I do not want to face reality. Work was not nearly as bad as Debbie's yesterday - but still work....DD6 had to go get her first filling yesterday - she was such a trooper!!!! I am off this morning so I will TRY to get life in order.

Let's just do one giant picture trip report and our own personal comments. We can each just add pictures as we go along. Who is up for that? I still have to add my photos to Photobucket.

John and I have decided that from now on we will do cruise seperate from WDW - we were SOOOO relaxed and it was such a different vacation from WDW - we still LOVE WDW - but DCL is definately a much more relaxing time - 7 day cruise????!!!!

We are planning a 7-day crusie in 2012. We booked a dummy datae onboard and will change it to a 2012 date when they are released.

All of you that are traveling back home, have a safe trip. I love WDW, trying to see when I can head back to Orlando. Not sure if I will be able to make the trip next year. I love being a teacher, but taking off 3 weeks into the school year doesn't sit well with the boss. Do you think Mickey can write me a note?

I am sure Mickey would love to write a note for you but I don't think the principal will accept it.

Hi guys!!! We got back home in Indiana a few hours ago. I started unpacking and had to take a break to get my DIS fix.

DH & I both agree that this was our absolute BEST vacation EVER! I enjoyed meeting all of you. This was our 7th cruise and we've never had such a great time. And I'm talking about the new friends that we made. DCL wasn't providing the top notch service that we've been used to on previous cruises, but knowing so many other cruisers on a first name basis from getting to know you all on this thread...that made it so nice! And we have to thank Mother Nature for giving us the calmest water we've ever sailed on! WOW!

At the first night at dinner, we felt like we were old friends with Christine/Eric, Terrie/Wally & Shawn/Milford and let's not forget Ian/Laura even though they were at the rowdy table We definitely want to stay in touch with all of you and maybe some day we can all do WDW and/or DCL again together!!!

The Fish Extender gifts were all soooo nice! Everyone had such cute ideas. It was fun looking at all the FE's and the magnets on the doors. My kids are excited because we're sharing the candy with them!

I need to say thank you to quite a few people:

I owe many many thanks to Chris & her family for sharing their extra little suitcases DVC gave on the first night.

You were all such a great group to chat with on this thread and it was such a pleasure to meet each of you! It was fun running into some of you at WDW after the cruise, too!! (Monika - I hope you guys enjoyed the segway tour and that your legs weren't as sore as ours afterwards! )

I hope we can all keep in touch. Maybe we can just keep this thread going (or start a new thread) and just "stop by that thread" from time to time to say "HI".

We booked a cruise for October 2011 while we were on the ship, so unfortunately we don't think we'll be able to do the SSMember Cruise 2011.

This cruise was very relaxing for us too.
This thread will continue to be open so we can keep chatting with one another.
I don't think we will be going on the SSMC 2011 since we will be cruising in Aug. 2011.

The prices are quite high. We all should just plan our own "member" cruise and plan to cruise together again. It was great fun meeting everyone.

They did not have a copy out but I asked to see one so they printed one out for me. I had to purchase it. I will send you a copy once I scan it.

I asked for the group shot also and they had them out but down in a corner so I grabbed one!!! I will gladly make some copies if anyone wants.

We were throwing around the idea of a NYE cruise - I'm sure those are expensive!!!

That sounds like fun, Ian!!! Right now we are booked on the October 20th 3 night cruise. We won't know until around February if we have to change it. But I will definitely keep you posted.

Thank you! We haven't heard anything from corporate office but we kept checking the local newspaper from there and now the authorities are thinking he committed suicide since nobody has heard from him and he left the building alone and they haven't found him yet.
