fltink - I'm in Lowell.

I can't wait to be back on the Mickey Boat!

My DS will be turning 3 on the cruise. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do to "celebrate"? I already bought a pirate birthday banner to hang in the room. He is a major Captain Jack fan!

Make sure, like any celebration, it is notated on your ressie. It also doesn't hurt to throw a friendly reminder to your room steward, your servers, the Oceaneer's Club folks, and just about everyone on the ship. They'll make sure and take care of the birthday magic for him!
In fact, you may want to grab him an "It's My Birthday" t-shirt or pin, or maybe even buy him a pirate hat and write "Birthday Boy" on it in fabric paint.
Another great thing to do, is at the begining of the trip, bring a pillowcase down to guest services and they will have the characters sign it before you disembark. If you tell them it's for his birthday, the characters may leave special messages.
Also, make him a giant birthday card and attatch it to your cabin door with a marker and a note for everyone to please sign it. As fellow guests and crew members pass by, they will add to his birthday wishes and you'll have a great souvenier!
No matter what, he'll have the best birthday EVER because it is onboard the BEST ship EVER!!!!!!!!!!!

Where would you find it on your reservation? I just called this afternoon and bought the birthday celebration for my wife. She took my credit card info and said it would be in the cabin when we got there.

Didn't send any kind of confirmation or anything. Can't find it on my reservation on the Disney page. I'd sure like to have something that says I bought this.:confused3

Generally, celebrations only show up on your credit card statement. (I believe this has to do with the fact that many times, guests purchase this for another member of their party as a surprise, so they don't want it to show up on any documentation.) However, I am sure that if you call DCL and ask to have a written conformation emailed to you, they could do that.

When I was talking about making sure it is notated on your ressie, I just meant that it will be listed in the copy of the notes for your cabin that your room steward, servers and guest services recieves. To confirm that it IS listed, simply call DCL and ask the agent that you speak to to check and see if they see it notated. If not, ask them to please do so.

There's no shame in shouting your own special occasions out loud so put up a big sign on your door, wear shirts featuring your special event, or just announce it to large groups of people.....everyone on board is there to have a blast and they are usually more than willing to help you celebrate whatever your special occasion is. (Wait until you all see our t-shirts for embarkation day! Outta control!)

24 days and counting!!!!!

I can't wait yet I have sooooo much to do. God help me, I may not get it all done. Lois

Thanks for the reply. I'll take a copy of my credit card bill.

As for shouting out loud my wifes special occasion, I'll pass.
I'm very quiet and don't roll like that. One might say I'm boring.:)

Bill

Bill, somehow I doubt you are boring. :lmao: You are on a Disney cruise after all, and we DISers are never boring!

Lois... you will get it all done, and if you don't, well, then you're on vacation and you don't have to worry about it!

stina :wave2:

Ok I am starting to DIS-like you all more and more that you are going this time and I am not! LOL

It seems like many of you have been on many cruises and many times on Disney. So how many does everyone have under their belt?

1 - Disney
1 - Norwegian
2 - RCCL
13- Carnival

One of my cruise tips.... every day after you know that you aren't wearing what you wore that day again, pack it in the suitcase along with anything you have realized you won't need. That way when the dreaded last day comes you have most of your packing done already and can actually enjoy your whole last day.

Wow Bill, you've been on a lot!!!! O.k. we have the BIG 0 under our belt. Hahaha, this is our very first cruise ever. I am so looking forward to it.
Don't worry Lois,
I have a ton to do as well, and I only have 6 more days off before the vacation!!!! So don't feel bad, we'll get it all done.

Look at all the fun you'll have catching up! If my mind wasn't so feeble I could list my Disney Park trips. We used to go every year, sometimes twice. That's until we cruised.lol

Next summer we are actually not going on a cruise for the first summer in years. we rented a house and are a doing a Disney park trip with my grandson, my DD, and SIL.

I don't have that many cruises under my belt! I wish! These cruises are expensive! Can only afford to do BIG vacation about every 3 years. That's how long it takes to save.
In any case...here's my count:

1 6/3/1990 - honeymoon cruise Royal Carribbean
1 6/2004 - 4 day cruise DCL Wonder
1 9/2007 - 7 day cruise DCL Magic

That's it Donnica! Don't feel bad; you are not the only one who doesn't have a book full of cruises.

Also, so sad you are not going to make the cruise. I would really have loved to have met you. You sound like a blast to be around! We'll keep you there in spirit.

i don't have many... but i have 2 that were quite lengthy and no where NEAR as glamorous. As a U.S. Marine, i was deployed for 6 months on the USS Tripoli where we "visited" hong kong, singapore, thailand, guam, united arab emerites, iran, iraq, turkey, somalia, kenya, and Hawaii. 2 years later i was on a boat for 3 months or so and went to the soviet union, korea, japan, all several times.

semper fi!!

DnJLaw...I love that you call them Uncle Sam cruises. That cracks me up! :rotfl:

Looks like Bill, Jenn and Donnica have outcruised most of us. Thanks for the packing tip Donnica, that's a great one that I never thought of. I missed the "Till We Meet Again" party on our last cruise because I was so busy packing! Now I know better!

This will be my second Disney cruise and 3rd cruise ever. So I'm not a very experienced cruiser. But I am in good hands with the group of serial cruisers I am traveling with. ;)

The only reason I have cruised more is because i started cruising when dinosaurs still roamed the earth.:cool1:
