09/08/07 Early Check in September 8, 2007 Western

We had a great Christmas here in sunny AZ ! Perhaps one of these years i'll want a white Christmas... but not too soon... Thanks!:thumbsup2
Hmmm ... I wonder if I could make a snowman out of a snow cone?? He'd be tasty too!

I cant wait for a wonderful New Year... and wishing all my Dis friends the same!

At midnight New Years Eve, lets all drink a toast to our cruise friends from earlier cruises & friends to be from our upcoming cruise!
Chris & Janet

Well, I'll drink to a better year. I even bought a bottle of Merlot for the occasion. Had some bad luck in Dec, car accident, my wallet was stolen on 12/11 24 hrs before my Disney trip. Stupid, stupid. I had just prepared my wallet for travel, some $$$, cc, disney tickets....What a mess to try and get my drivers license replaced before NJDMV closed. Well the trip was fine. I picked up my car from the body shop yesterday, and all is well.
Hope everyone has a Happy New Year..

See my last post--page 9 post # 132.

Thanksgiving went well. Mother liked her poetry binder and helped get the rest ready for Christmas giving.

While I was in Upstate NY, my brother and I went through the old photo albums with those brittle black pages, took out the photos where we recognized the people and taped them together into 8 1/2 x 11 collages which we put in plastic page protectors. This way the writing on the back is visible too. The pages that had writing on them not on the photos were torn or cut to fit the page protectors. All the pages were put in binders for the three of us kids.

We met our soon-to-be-daughter-in-law-Sarah's parents on Thanksgiving day at their home for dinner. They are as great as she is. It was great to see our sons. Our trip home to Indy went well.

Mother did go to Alabama with my brother for Christmas with my sister and family. Poetry books were well received by all as were photo binders.

We had a lovely Christmas. Both our sons and Sarah drove to Indianapolis from PA. They arrived Saturday PM and left Wednesday AM. It is a 12 hour trip and the first year we did not do it ourselves.

Jan :earsgirl: (why won't my Minnie-girl show up any more?)

Yes we got home at about 11PM :woohoo: on 12/31/06. That had not been the plan. We were stuck in New Mexico for two days because it had snowed. They closed I-40. We got up to leave on 12/31 at 2AM. The road had opened at 4 PM the day before and we wanted to get a little sleep and let the traffic ease up a bit. Just as we get to the I-25 & I-40 intersection they closed I-40 again:confused: . We were told that they planned to open I-40 by 10AM and Thank God we didn't believe them:scared1: . We traveled south on I-25 to 380 East and then worked our way north into Texas. Once back on I-40 it was a clear shot home:thumbsup2 . We called to see if I-40 was opened when we got home and guess what it was still closed:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: .

Boy it was good to be back in my own bed once again. It was great to see the family, however, I would have preferred it had been under happier time. My sister has been awesome. I don't think I could have held it together as well has she has. I think focusing on her twins is really helping her. I am really looking forward to her joining us on this cruise. It will be a lot of fun to watch the twins, they have never been on a cruise. I can't wait. I have so much to plan in the next eight months.

Thank you for all the kind thoughts and prayers as our family has dealt with the loss. I know they were a help for myself as well as my sister. Lois

Happy New Year everyone! It's now officially the year of our cruise!

Hi all! Whew! The holidays sure take it out of you! Kevin's birthday party was great, Christmas was great, and New Years was a blast! We went to Kborn's house and rang in the new year's with them. I kept my almost-2yo nephew a few days after Christmas, and he loves me so much he shared his COLD with Kevin and I. I feel horrible, as does Kevin. :headache: Oh well. Now we are just counting down to cruise time! I'm excited. :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: I wish it was here tomorrow!
Glad to see that everyone had a nice holiday season. We will probley not leave out to go back to work for a few more days due to our bad colds. Driving truck is stressful enough, driving sick isn't good for us or anyone else on the road. Happy New Year! :cool2:

Lois, I-40 being closed is HILARIOUS! Only because I'm at home right now and don't have to be stuck in it. Glad you made it home in one piece:flower3:

OK, we are still at home, sick:sick: No fun! We need to go back to work soon, but when my husband says he's too sick to work you better believe him! I am pretty sure we have the flu, as Alabama has the highest flu numbers now according to the news. While being sick does wonders for the News Years Resolution of losing weight, it is a light strain on the pocketbook as we have been off work since December 22nd. I hope everyone else is doing well and getting excited for cruise time!!!!

Hey guys, I hope you did not catch anything at our house...

We are still working on getting the decorations put away, did get the tree down yesterday and the den put back together, Tina has been fighting her sinus miagrains since ya'll left. We should be done in about a week. Thanks again for visiting, your welcome back anytime. Josh misses Dolce', he begged us for one after ya'll left. For those who don't know, Dolce' is PIT mini chiquaua (sp?). Our six year old fell in love with him. Hope you feel better soon and get back to earning $$$$.

I think we caught something from Alabama in general. Everyone we know is sick with the flu or something. We didn't start feeling bad until the night we left ya'lls house. Not from you, most likely from my 2 yo nephew. Germy little boy! We have to get back on the road soon. Must make money to pay for Whole FamDamly cruise. And my birthday trip to WDW in June that I'm secretly planning for myself:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

and get that poor baby a chihuahua!!!!!!!! He NEEDS one!!!! :rotfl2: Dolce is easy to get attached to. I'm still trying to find a way to sneak him on the cruise with us. Wouldn't be hard as he only weighs 2 lbs! He's super cool! I have to do some research on whether or not we can take him to SSR or if we have to doggy spa him for the entire vacation. He's too small to be left alone for long periods of time so we are putting him in a doggy spa in Orlando for the cruise, hopefully not the week before too!

I'm thinking that there is a bug running around the good old USA. Both Janet and I have been fighting a upper respipatory infection since before Christmas. I hope everyone who is ill recovers soon. It is no fun being sick. It is even worse not being able to work if that mean not earning curise dollars.

I was off for 10 days over Thankgivings then I had to be gone again over Christmas and was gone for 3 weeks. I also missed one full day last week. Thank God I have paid time to take on the books. Now I need to work on earning time for September because we plan to be out for no less than 4 weeks.

I can't wait this is going to be the best time ever. Lois

I hope you and Janet get to feeling better! Missing work is no fun (wait, did I just type that?!?). We all have to make Disney $$$ right? My husband once said, "Let me work enough to pay my bills and pay for my Disney trips and I can die a happy man." I guess that's our mantra "Must have disney $$$......." You better get to building that time off Lois! September is not too far away! On our 2nd disney cruise our company was a little slow at approving our time off. We had the 'what if" talk. Thank God we were approved, because we had already decided that we had no problem quitting and finding another job as soon as we got back!:rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: There are plenty of other trucking companies out there! We generally have no problem taking off work for anything because we stay out 6-8 weeks at a time. Most people go home every 2 weeks. i wish!

Time shouldn't be a problem. I earn 12 hours each month and I already have at least 100 saved. I only need about 180 for the month. I just don't want to be without time on the books. I like to work when I want. I am going to take some on-call weeks. I get 10 hours comp time for each week even if I don't have to do anything. Janet will see the doc this week so if she dosen't get better we will know what got a hold of us. I am sure it was the stress of being out of town and dealing with the death of my brother in law. I think I am Slowly ever so slowly getting better. Hope both of you feel well enough to get back on the road soon. Till later, Lois

I was reading the thread for the 9/15 Eastern cruise & I saw a few familiar names from this thread. So who all is doing a back to back? Not that I'm jealous.
Chris
