08 was so Great at the Poly...TR-NEW 2/3 Time to say Good-bye (final post) / pics

 Just wanted to let you know I was here...

Now please excuse me while I go back and catch up!

In my last two visits I haven't been able to get out of Germany without buying a teddy bear for the kids. Maybe I should stop going while I'm pregnant??? :confused3

:welcome: back Kathy! thank you for coming by and saying "hi" it is so great to see you here, have fun catching up and I hope you enjoy what has been going on....

In my last two visits I haven't been able to get out of Germany without buying a teddy bear for the kids. Maybe I should stop going while I'm pregnant??? :confused3

we all have our indulgences, huh? Back in the 90's (I say that like it was soooo long ago;) ) at the big Japan store they had these wonderfuly made, classic plush animals of WTP & Gang, each trip we went, or that my Mom or a friend went I collected them. WTP, Piglet, Kanga & Roo, Owl, and Eeyore and .......:headache: when the time came to get Rabbit. They no longer carried them. My set never was complete. They graced 3 of the 4 kids nurseries as babies and now the littlest of the set (WTP & Piglet) sit proudly down in my scraproom. They are very special to me.

As I'm sure those teddies and the ones to come :rolleyes1 will be for Liam and "Belle" and the other "Poppins" kiddos!

Thanks for reading all.

I just finished uploading all the rest of the pictures over 230 of them  need to go thru them and pick the best and edit down the sizes. I've finished typing up thru the end of Day 6) so far (2 days left). I feel to be in good shape to keep this TR rolling along and see it to the end.

As well just a sneak peek, I started scrapping this great trip the end of last year and have been doing a photo log as I go. Once this written TR is done I hope to do a Scrap TR as well. and it's kinda funny, as I write about the countries, that is what I'm scrapping too. Well off to do a little of that before picking up the kids from school.

Happy Disney Day!:yay:

Cool....I was hoping we'd get to see some of your scrappin' pages!

Hi Julie! I love your update about WS!! Mae looks like she enjoyed making her mask. I can't wait to do that with the boys. :woohoo: I don't know how much shopping I'll get done with them, but that's probably a good thing. :rolleyes1 And for me it's all about taking in the sights & sounds. Especially during the Flower & Garden Festival. :hippie:

Can't wait to see your scrapbook pages!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

contiuing saga of Day 5):

recap outside the Mexican Cantina feeling quite :crowded:

After stalking (which we all kinda felt weird and bad about) for about 15 minutes or so,

we found a table for 4…OK we have 7 people, but it’s better than nothing.

Apparently everyone wanted Mexican tonight.

My Mom and I then got in line to get our food, which didn’t end up taking that long. I can barely remember what we got to eat now and didn’t write it all down. But I’m pretty sure I got 2 adult meals w/ drinks and desserts and 2 kid meals w/ the same plus an extra drink. The plan was to all kinda share. But this didn’t quite work out. We didn’t have enough for the younger girls, besides Margaret didn’t look like she wanted to eat.DH decided to go back up to Norway and get some grapes for her and then ended up going back again for some more food for Mae , a PBJ circle sandwich and more fruit oh BTW he got her a new tag for her mask as well. His food got cold (nachos supreme I think) and he barely ate any of it which he didn’t really care for anyways. Felt bad for the guy.:guilty:

By that time it was just a few more minute till the show started a little after 9:00 pm.

Unfortunately people all stood up and kinda moved in front of you (our little table was only the 2nd row from the railing….) So we had to move and stand up ourselves to see it. Though I didn’t move far because of Margaret in her stroller…some nice lady was near us and said she keep on eye on our table etc…but I still stayed close.

The show was great with what we saw in our semi-obstructed view. It was different compared to what I remember almost 10 years ago (we missed seeing it in 05).

Here are a few fuzzy pictures from it:

When it was over we hung back in the Cantina as the hoards of people trekked on by and toward the front of Epcot. While we waited here some over friendly ducks had emerged looking for handouts and crumbs…they kinda freaked me out. Writing this makes me think of the crazy squirrel that “attacked” Amy’s (NH) Mom….

Before heading out I took a few last pictures in Mexico:

I was bummed the night didn’t quite work according to my plan and high hopes, we never made it in the pavilion except to get Mae’s tag and Aldine looked at the gift shop quickly.

100_21521.jpg

We then walked to some benches outside the MouseGears store and waited some more figuring the monorail lines would still be pretty thick.

The fountain was going in front of SSE and the music as well, it was nice to just sit and listen and watch….

100_2209-1.jpg

Here's a very tired Margaret:
100_2196-1.jpg

At this point Mae had a major second wind compared to the rest of us and she put on a 10 minute + little musical dance number for us:

After her show was done, we now headed out of park after a quick rest stop at the restrooms. I took advantage of the clear night sky and captured some nice shots:

BTW Mae never stopped talking or singing the whole way back till we got on the Monorail. We got back to the Poly and our room about 10:30 ish pm. I think we all went right to bed!

Up Next the start of Day 6) our Pool and Rest day….or would it be?

thanks for reading!

Sorry your Illuminations night wasn't what you had hoped. :sad2:

I'm worried about planning too many nights out - I want to see Wishes - the kids love fireworks and we haven't seen it before... other than leaving the MK during Hallowishes last year. We are also planning to check out Fantasmic again - we saw that in 06 and I thought it was great. Not sure if we'll make Illuminations or not - we'll play that one by ear.

I hope you have a relaxing & fun-filled rest/pool day coming up. :goodvibes

Kids always seem to get that burst of activity just before they konk out!! Luckily, Mae's was a "happy" burst!

I'm sure Michae's earphones helped him enjoy the fireworks.... Billy is so much better with fireworks when he wears his earplugs!

Two :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 for Rest & Pool Day plans (hope it turned out well!)

Kathy

Poor DH with cold Nachos. We learned the hard why that we should always get food for Liam first since little toddler food is sometimes hard to come by...especially in WS.

Love the dance routine!

The next time we go, we hope to do Fantasmic as option night out #2 as we've never done it. Think need to plan better for Illuminations when going during a more peak season....

YES! that is true

I'm sure Michae's earphones helped him enjoy the fireworks.... Billy is so much better with fireworks when he wears his earplugs!

He wore his headphone a ton during the trip, they really made him secure I think in all the noise and crowds. We worried about how hot and sweaty his ears got but he seemed content:goodvibes

Live & Learn huh! and now she has some dairy/nut allergies so we'll be extra careful now
Love the dance routine! I'm sure she says thanks!

Joining...I need to get reading:coffee:

:welcome: bertegirl

There's more to come! I will get to Day 6) tomorrow I promise!

thanks for reading all!

Favor...can you tell me about the barber shop at MGK? My DS is going to turn 1 during our trip and I want to get his hair cut for the 1st time as well while we are there. Someone said something about little certificates they give. Any advice:scratchin

Oh you should so do it.....make sure you tell them it his first hair cut. The line was really long first thing in the morning the day we went but not bad at all at noon.

The link to my son's hair cut is in Post #2 of my TR as Scrappie posted above.

Day 6) June 10th 2008

This was suppose to be our “Beauty-rest” day at the pool, a chance for me to do some laundry, the older DD’s Aldine and Mae get to go to their kid only Cooking Adventure at the GF. Plus DMom is getting ready to leave today and our evening plans are TBD. Thoughts were to stay in, go to DTD again or back to DHS after dinner.

We originally had a bright and early bfast ADR at Kona, which I had cancelled the day before, we decided based on the crazy time and that the adults would have to pay op we opted to eat in the room instead. But since the 3 kids would have one TS left over we didn’t want to waste it, so DH ordered meals for them from the restaurant to go. It was basically empty at 7:00 am ish in the morning, he had to sit down and pay a tip when he ordered. But to get 3 really nice kid bfasts was worth it. I can’t remember what they all got, but I know it was plenty of food and they all enjoyed their meals, plus we had some to share w/ Margaret. ::yes::

DMom spent the morning straightening up her things and moving her luggage into our room till she was ready to leave. After DH brought the kids their meals he went back over to Captain Cook’s and got him and I Tonga Toast, which I was so excited to eat, after hearing so much hype about it.

Boy that is some RICH tasting food; :mickeybar I think I literally stuffed myself. We then were rushing to get the girls off to their Cooking Adventure, that DH barely had time to finish his Tonga Toast (He sure is getting the short end of the stick when it comes to eating….:rolleyes1 ) They had to be there at 9:45 am. I’m not sure what time it was when he left but my notes say he got back to the room after taking the Monorail there and back around, by 10:34 ish. I in the meantime had gotten Margaret and Michael ready to go to the pool and all our laundry together to go the laundry mat. He took them to the pool and I used the stroller to push our laundry basket (a foldable pop-up style) across to the laundry mat. :laundy: It was just down the path from our room very convenient!

I did 3 loads total at the same time. There were about 3 other people doing theirs’ as well plus a regular stream of people coming and going…I don’t know about leaving my clothes and go back off to do something else….IMOH Oh and I think at least 2 people there as we chatted over folding…were also from the Chicago subs.

Hey isn’t this VERY EXCITING so far? ??:bored:

DH then dropped off the other kids to me so he could go back and pick up the girls around 12 pm.

Oh BTW my DMOM still had a day left on her ticket to the parks so she went over to MK to do some shopping….

Ok so now the plan at this point was for me to finish up the laundry when DH came back w/ the girls, he takes everyone back to the pool and feed Margaret and Michael (plus himself some lunch), the girls got lunch w/ their cooking thing.

Oh here is a picture of them [Aldine & Mae] in their Mickey chef hats, plus aprons they “hand-painted” they also made strawberry shortcakes and passed them around the lobby in the GF and brought home 2 samples for Mom & Dad. They had a really super fun morning!

100_2242.jpg

(the white blotches was me editing out their "real names")

I was suppose to eventually catch up w/ DH & the kids and we’d let Margaret take a nap outside in the stroller.

The reality-check …:crazy2:

I NEVER  made it to the Pool at all...

After DH had the girls ready for the pool, Margaret had her official Day 6) at WDW 18 month old MELTDOWN! She was wretchedly screaming. :scared1: He left Mae at a table by the pool while Michael ate his lunch and took Margaret back to the room w/ Aldine and put her in the crib…he was hoping I was back already, but I wasn’t... the drying was taking a lot longer than I had hoped. So he quickly ran and got me and helped me bring the clothes back to the room, dry or not.

I stayed in the room then in the semi dark and put away the clean laundry in our suitcases and straightened up a ton of stuff in our room that I didn’t think we needed anymore, plus the souvenirs already purchased. During this time my Mom came to our room and knocked for me to let her in. She quietly took care of her stuff and then went down by the pool to watch the kids and have a bite to eat before leaving in a few hours.

She had a great morning shopping and went on the HM before leaving the park. She bought several more pins for the kids lanyards, plus a Father’s Day one for DH and a cool Disney-inspired Wizard of Oz one for myself (I love Wiz of Oz) a few things for herself and my sis and my Dad, plus a shopping errand for a co-worker which she had shipped back and a Tink charm for Aldine’s Disney charm bracelet

So back to Margaret she slept like a rock never stirred till DH got back w/ the kids around 3:30 ish, to get showered and ready for our 5:10 dinner ADR at Kona.

So Yes I just spent a whole glorious, perfect weather, day in the most Magical place on the World doing :laundy: and cleaning….um isn’t that my real life? :confused3

I was sorely bummed, but I knew that she needed that huge nap and the kids and DH had tons of fun during their day, plus I did get a ton done to prepare us to leave in 2 days, that I may have been crunching to finish later….

part 2 next....

DMom had caught her DME bus somewhere in this time frame now to get back to the airport for her flight home and we all said goodbye to her and wished her a safe flight home.:wave2:

But as she was in the bus on her way and we were getting ready to walk across to the GCH for our dinner….the heavens open and poured on us some MASSIVE RAIN!!!!! It was intense.:scared:

When we got upstairs it was CROWDED :crowded: w/ people as the early evening Luau was cancelled due to the rain and all these people were trying to get dinner at Kona or O’Hana and they were all wet, grumpy, and tired looking….man was I glad we only walked across the path (well darted) and hadn’t taken transportation here to find out you had no where to eat….:faint:

Anyways we had only waited like 5 minutes before we were seated and we again had an excellent corner table along the railing that worked very well for us. (Except for the people kinda hanging around on the other side….)

100_2244.jpg

100_2245.jpg

Oh here is a hidden Mickey we found:

100_2249.jpg

100_2250.jpg

We ordered our food:

100_2248.jpg

100_2247.jpg

I had the chicken dish, DH had the Mahi Mahi they were both very good and the salad w/ my meal was excellent. I ate everything plus skimmed off the others as I was STARVING w/ missing lunch.

Ok now I’m laughing at what I wrote that Michael and Mae had…rice & rice…. :rotfl: ok I really think it was fish and rice…. but Michael did not like it at all, and the waitress could tell so she brought him a new meal of a hotdog and fries. Mae drudged through her meal (we refused to let them order pizza and only let Michael get a hotdog as we didn’t want a meltdown from him) Aldine had chicken and mac noodles w/ marinara sauce, she ate fairly well.

I did not write down what Margaret ate…grapes maybe?

100_2246.jpg

We all had dessert:

100_2252.jpg

100_2253-1.jpg

100_2254.jpg

Throughout our meal it had continued to storm and DH & I were thinking we just have to stay in for the night and watch a movie on his computer…I personally was bummed since I didn’t do anything FUN today.

After we were done w/ our food, we made a couple stops in the gift shops to look around (I don’t know if we bought anything?) we were back to our room after 7:00 pm. We were at Kona for a while, the service was great, we just were slow….

By then the storm had finally stopped and the clouds were passing it looked like it might be an OK night after all.:scratchin

What would we do?

Guess you’ll have to come back and see…..

Sorry you had to spend so much time indoors! I'm hoping to not have to do laundry. We have always had laundry in our condo so we've always washed clothes - a few loads over the week. We want to pack light this time, but without the laundry... :scared: I'm sure we'll be fine - I just have to plan accordingly. I guess I need to have DH see what he has for shorts - he tends to wear the same few pairs over & over.

I'm glad Margaret got her nap. princess: The cooking thing sounds like it was a lot of fun for the girls! :thumbsup2 I hope you guys ventured out and enjoyed the evening.

Hey, I always say that going to WDW is more of a "trip" than a "vacation" for the parents... you can get away from your job, but you can't ever vacation from parenting and caretaking! :grouphug: Oh well, you were right to give the little pumkin her rest... and if you hadn't caught up a little on the 'ole laundry, well, you wouldn't have any clean clothes to wear, right?

Think of it as "taking one for the team!"

It must have been sad to see DMom go, but it sounds like she had a nice, quiet morning to herself, which I'm sure she appreciated greatly.

I'm getting ahead of myself, but when we went down for our mini-trip last April, we scheduled a "down" day and let me tell you, it was the best thing ever! I will be doing that from now on.

Looking forward to what came next....

Kathy

p.s. Where are pix of your scrapbook pages?! I wanna see!!

Thank you for reminding me that I never what to do laundry on vacation.
