We are on vacation in the mountains of NC at a place called Lake Junaluska. It is near Waynesville and Maggie Valley. The house is beautiful and sits right on the shore of the lake.

The best thing about it? High speed cable internet I ran out an bought an inexpensive wireless router and now ....

This December cruise is not full yet. You can still book rooms right on the DCL web site.. plus.. Not to mention people holding onto reservations just in case, when/if they change or drop their reservation, their Cabins open up too..

Maybe Beth meant the hotel in St Maarten is booked where her townspeople were going to stay..

pfishgirl: That's exactly what I meant! If they had been booked on this cruise, Jim and I would probably have changed our dates. At least now I can relax and not have to worry!

brack: Your vacation spot looks lovely. Enjoy it! I'm heading to Binghamton, NY for the weekend. I'm not quite sure it'll be that pretty, but at least it won't be my office!

TxTaylors5: I'm watching my countdown clock getting closer to double digits! We leave home on Nov. 30, which is just a few hours more than 108 days from this very minute! In a little over a week I will have hit the magic "double digit countdown"!

DH and I will be leaving Wednesday for an 18 hour drive down to Orlando. We are bringing a bunch of stuff I had delivered here, bought on a Really good sale.. prior to our house there being finished.. ANDddddd my brother and his wife and their dog plus another couple will be coming up from Key West and staying with us at our house I am excited to go and visit the Mouse with my brother & SIL, but I am NOT looking forward to the 18 hours there and 18 hours home Thank Goodness I made sure I took Monday off !

I can handle the drive down but I absolutely hate the drive back.

This has been a very relaxing time at the lake. The house is very retro (reminds me of the dining at the Studios) but nice. It has a beautiful garden area in the back.

I'm glad you didn't have to change your plans. I can think of a few neighbors I wouldn't want to see on vacation. Everyone has one or two! Our neighbors were at WDW last year the same time we were. We were staying at the Beach Club and they were staying at the Yacht Club. A little too close for me. Luckily, we didn't see them at all. The Mom and I were chatting before our trips and she was bragging in front of the others Moms how they were going to WDW for a week and staying at the Yacht Club. Then, they asked me what we were doing for the Thanksgiving holiday. I told them we were going to WDW too and staying at the Beach Club. Then, I told them we were going on a Disney cruise afterwards. The "bragging" Mom gave me the dirtiest look. Oh well.

I'm glad you didn't have to change your plans. I can think of a few neighbors I wouldn't want to see on vacation. Everyone has one or two! Our neighbors were at WDW last year the same time we were. We were staying at the Beach Club and they were staying at the Yacht Club. A little too close for me. Luckily, we didn't see them at all. The Mom and I were chatting before our trips and she was bragging in front of the others Moms how they were going to WDW for a week and staying at the Yacht Club. CUTE! WOW 16! woohoo!

I hope you and the family are keeping cool. For others on here, it has been in the low 100's around here (TX). It was 104 on Monday, 102 on Tuesday and 101 today (Wednesday). Poor Will (DS7) has four football practices a week in full pads and helmet. He's lost four pounds! We get to sit in the hot sun this Saturday for their Bowl Game (kind of like a pre-season game). We'll have to come home and jump in the pool afterwards.

The high here in the mountains of NC today is probably 85 degrees and it goes down to the 60's at night.

I called my DS in Dallas and he can't wait to get here on Friday!

That weather sounds perfect! Also from the photos, the views not too bad either. Wish we were there too! Bill (DH) and I both love water views of any kind (ocean, lakes and even rivers). We can't wait for our verandah on the Magic! I remember last time waking up to the sounds of the water and seagulls on Castaway Cay.
What a way to wake up!

ok I have no idea if I have introduced myself or not so if I have I am sorry.

My name is Krisann and we are excited to be on this cruise - we were scheduled to be on the Sept. 1 cruise but because of my grandmother's death we had to change the dates which is wonderful to me as I have a business all about Christmas and would love to do Disney at Christmas - just never thought I would get a chance to!

We homeschool our 2 children ds - 10 and dd - 12 - I would love to find others who have kids the same ages. My kids love the kids clubs so they will be going there some which will be nice because it will give my hubby and me "alone time" to do whatever as he will just have gotten back from Iraq in November. We took our first Disney cruise in April of 2006 when he came home the first time and we did not think he would have to go back - but he did and we had such a great time reconecting the first time we decided to do it again.

In addition to this cruise we are also on the May repo cruise so if anyone with kids are going on both I would really love to hear from you and maybe we can get our kids together!

I am looking forward to meeting people here - I have been reading the posts the best I can.

Is it too late to participate in the Stockings I read about and the Palo brunch? With the Palo brunch do we make our own reservation and then we are just all there at the same time? We are doing the romance package again so I will be making reservations very soon.

More questions will come to me I am sure - thanks for any input.
