Hi I was invited to post over here. My family 5,8,and 1 year old from Minneapolis will be cruising along with mother and father inlaw from Green Valley AZ.

What part of Minnesota are you in? My DD and I lived in ND for 2 years when I was stationed at Grand Forks AFB. We loved it there! My DD is 9, is your 8 y/o a boy or girl?

Be sure to click on the Lime Green link in the bottom of my signature block, so you can see the Meets we have planned for the cruise. The first one is at 3pm on Embarkation Day. Deck 10 starboard. Have you been on DCL before?

I have Christmas music playing on the radio while I'm online. It is getting me into the spirit of the holidays. We have a local station that plays nothing but holiday music from the third week of November until New Year's Day. It is great. However, if you listen to it long enough you hear every song a million times. We have a great Christmas CD bill bought off one of those tv commercials. I think it from Time/Life CDs. It has all the favorites and by the artists who did the best version of the songs. There are some stranger versions of Christmas songs out there.

We were driving on the Garden State Parkway, saw an accident on the southbound side.. any way.. we tuned into the local News station on the radio to see if we could hear anything about it.. but.. ALL they were playing was Christmas songs..

DS2 has played so much with his Rudolph, that we need to change the battery in the nose already. He loves his Rudolph. DD5 is planning on bringing Clarice onboard. She brings Clarice EVERYWHERE since she got her. DD5 had her at the Christmas Parade last Friday and got many admiring looks from other little girls. Clarice even got her own seat at the parade since DS2 stayed in his stroller. DD5 wants Clarice to come on the cruise and roll down the hallways. She loves those rollerskates!

I will be buying Cranberry-Grape juice, or CranApple, as I can Not stomach pure cranberry

I do hope that it is just a UTI and an antibiotic will take care of it.. I am really Not looking forward to the Ships ER.. Had enough of that in September..

Cranberry pills work great too. You can usually find them with the vitamins.

Welcome aboard! I've been to Green Valley. I spent about four weeks in Rio Rico which is just south of Green Valley. Was on a couple of business trips with our plant in Nogales, on the Mexico side.

Welcome as my DD6 will be glad to have more friends on the ship. I too just went through Rio Rico and Nogales last year this time - brief trip by DD 6mo is here because of it.

They serve gator nuggets at gatorland! thats crazy!
Or do the quotes mean that they were chicken?

Born and raised here is LA, gator nuggets are OK if they are fresh like a local restaurant. Yes they do taste like chicken but I have had a gator on a stick (grilled) that was very rubbery.

I've come down with a cold! This is NO GOOD!! I've been loading up on Airborne and vitamin C today. Bought some nightime and daytime tylenol cold on the way home so I can sleep and breath during the day. Hope DrHug does not get it around this weekend just when we are leaving. I'm not giving him any kisses this week!!

My DD6 thinks I've gone mad as I am loading her up with viatimins, claritinD and Airborne daily since she just got over a major cold that took 5 weeks and 2 rounds of antibiotics to cure to get her flu shot. Remember she doesn't know when we are cruising yet.

I've been checking the weather too as it's crazy here - few days with highs of 60 and then a few 80 and back to 50. No wonder my baby is trying to stay afloat with congestion issues as well as all of us.

Tech ??? - What are you printing your door signs on (paper??)? If it's magnetic paper where do you buy that? If you are doing paper are you laminating them or putting them in sleves? Where do you buy magnetic tape???

I found the coolest stocking - do I have to personalize it to prevent someone from stealing it??? or is it safe?

Hi Mary!

I'm printing on magnetic paper. I also have a magnet sticker sheet (magnet backing, peel off sticky front to attach stuff to), if I could only find it! I saw the magnet printer sheets at Wal Mart but they were out when I went back so I got them at Staples. I also saw the magnet tape at Walmart in the craft section, and I got a pack of small round magnets there also.

Never thought of the stockings getting lifted. I will use a sharpie and write our name all over the back I guess. I'm going to use labels on the stickers. (Black on the back, harder to write on!)

I've come down with a cold! This is NO GOOD!! I've been loading up on Airborne and vitamin C today. Bought some nightime and daytime tylenol cold on the way home so I can sleep and breath during the day. Hope DrHug does not get it around this weekend just when we are leaving. I'm not giving him any kisses this week!!

I still can't shake my cough. I feel much better--except when I breathe. As long as I sit still and don't move around much I'm fine. So I'm just taking it easy here today. Fortunately, my boss had to go out and pick up the city Christmas Tree, which is being donated by a family in a town about 20 minutes away. First of all, they have to cut it down, so I don't expect to see him here for a while!

Someone mentioned they weren't wearing their lime green shirts on embarkation. We aren't either.

I haven't figured out what we're wearing. We were looking through some of our photos and discovered that two years in a row I wore the same outfit. I think maybe we WILL wear the shirts--at least the picture will be different!

I'm printing on regular paper and attaching them to magnetic tape. Nothing fancy, personalized so no one steals them!

Tomorrow is my last day at work before vacation! I have all of my projects finished, so I can just sit here all day and DIS, right? My boss thinks that's all I've done for the last month anyway!

We don't have our own grapes. We make wine from whatever grapes we can get free. Last year (2006) we scored some Pinot from a local winery thru a friend who drives limo for wine tours. That one needs to age at least another year or two though. We have not even listed the house yet. Wow! Procrastination. I was hoping to talk to some realtors this Friday. Maybe I should make a couple of calls today.

Since Dennis is a pharmacist, what does he recommend for a common cold? We have taken Zicam and Sudafed with great results. I was sick a couple of weeks ago. The purple Sudafed always works for me and I use the Zicam if I start to get that "feeling" in my throat like I am going to get sick. Does Airborn work well?

He brings home Airborne and Zinc/Vitamin C lozenges so I guess that is what he recommends. I just take what he gives me.

If you are still reading my posts, you can tell I can't sleep this evening. However, I have to take the car to the dealership for an oil change and check-up tomorrow. I want to make sure it is in tip top shape for our trip. So, no Ambien this evening for me.

We have never had our stockings stolen. That would be a bad thing!

From Orlando: For Titusville, take the Beachline (Rt. 528) east until the highway forks. Take the left fork (the signs direct you to Titusville and Kennedy Space Center). You are now on Rt. 407, the Challenger Memorial Parkway. When the road ends (in a T intersection) after several miles, turn right. You are now on Rt. 405, also called Columbia Blvd. Then, exit onto US 1 North and drive until you reach the point where the river runs close to the road. Anywhere along the river for the next five miles (mainly north of US 50) offers prime viewing, so look for a good spot to park.

I just pored over the google maps. Jennifer, this looks like a good idea, I can picture the layout now. The AHoF is the place with the model of the shuttle outside IIRC. I am trying to make sure this area is accessible on launch days (KSC gets closed except for those with the "Right" tickets), but it must be. Hey, I won't get to use my annual pass this time, but I still get 10% at the gift shop, if we're parking nearby--maybe I can find myself a stocking stuffer!

Did you catch the note about what to do in the event the shuttle explodes. The radiation or something! Sit in your car, no A/C, wait for further info.

When we had our tour last year we got close to one of the launch pads, and the guide was explaining to us the "zip cord" escape route the astronauts have in case of emergency. Apparently they had to give up rehearsing that part of the disaster drill--it works but apparently it scared the c*** out of the astronauts to hop in the harness and "zip" to the ground. He also told us they leave a tank parked at the end of the cord where they hit the ground, with the "keys in the ignition--first astronaut into the tank is the designated driver!" Serious stuff, but this guy had us cracking up.

Woohoo Beth! Last day, that's great! When do you actually leave? ...

We're actually leaving home Friday morning on the 10:38 AM train. We're taking the afternoon train from Newark, NJ, which is about 50 minutes away from home, and will arrive in Kissimmee at 1:30 PM on Saturday for our five night camping experience.

We love train travel, it's like first class air only it takes a little longer! But since DS and I both work for the government and have plenty of vacation time, we're going to enjoy ourselves.

We have a map made up for DGD of all the places that the train stops, and she's busy looking up something about each of those towns (she's yet another home-schooled kid!). We also made up lists of questions that she has to answer while we're at WDW--things about the countries in Epcot, things about the animals at the Animal Kingdom, and some more unusual things like finding out about some of the plants and animals that live at the campground. She has a digital camera, and she loves doing research projects. I can't wait to see what she comes up with.

It's a shame that DS and his family can't cruise with us, but it just didn't work out this time!
