So, you were the couple behind us at Palo? What a coincidence. Your DH would NOT shut up with the server and let her do her job!
You were there on pirate night? I don't even understand that comment as we were paged to go get DD before the dessert was served and unfortunately had to leave early.
Being a "Disney-Person" is a very special type of person. I honestly don't think you would understand it. Have fun on your next cruise and don't let the gang plank hit you in the . . .
Yes it takes a very "Disney-person" to say such a thing. :sad2:

It was our fault that not once were our drink orders waiting for us when we sat down.

This was my 20th cruise - 4th with DCL, and I also noticed that the drinks weren't waiting when we arrived. But then I noticed that we all seemed to change our drink orders each night. I wondered if they had encouraged the asst servers NOT to place the drinks ahead of time. It really was nice to be able to change my mind each night. If it had been important to me, I would've advised the asst server.

We thought DCL would offer so much more but for us it just worth the extra. Sure there were highlights, but never has a vacation fallen so far from the mark as far as expectations. That must be our fault too.

From day 1, you've stated that this cruise was for your DD, and that you were not looking forward to it. So why all the drama now?

Question... Where does everyone order their Digital pictures to be printed from?

I've been using Snapfish for years, and they always do a good job. :thumbsup2

Tina was still trying to get me to go on the one in September but the only thing that is available right now is a CAT 9 and it's almost 50% more than what we payed on this one. Actually, truth be told, we're toying around with the idea of postponing a cruise next year (even though we absolutely LOVED this last one and loved even MORE all of you guys that would actually say 'hi' and get involved with other DISers) and we're thinking of moving to Orlando and working for Disney. We both are both in denial and wishing we were down there so much, plus the perks of being a cast member is too much for us. Cast members get to take cruises for $60 a night!! :scared1: WITH A VERANDAH!!! :woohoo: You drop more money than that at a dinner somewhere. So, here's hoping that we can decide what to do. :confused3

Really, for Sept 12, 2009??? My DSis just changed her onboard res to a Cat 7 for less then $2200. With the $200 OBC from DCL, and the additional $200 OBC from DU, that's only $1800 total for 2 people! Could the website have been acting up when you checked? Also, did you take off the transfers and insurance?

Wow, that'd be great if you move to Orlando. I'll be there's tons of opportunities for employment with Disney as they are so huge. Have you looked into openings?

Watching my daughter's face light up with the appearance of each character was such a delight. I know this cruise was really for her. The last night, she turned and Stitch was right there and I thought she would explode from happiness.

How can you be "depressed" about this cruise after this statement???:confused3
One thing we (DH and I) missed was the doting attention every server and ever other cruise line employee has bestowed on our daughter and the pampering we have felt on every other cruise line.

As I said before, I've been on 20 cruises over the past 25 years, and in today's market I think DCL offers an incredible personal service. But remember, that the higher cost for DCL is mainly due to the large children's program and the fact that they do not have casino's onboard. They also do not push the alcohol, which is a big money maker for other lines. But for pampering the Private Villas in the spa CANNOT be beat!!

I was on the Port side talking to Beth and her DH. We were wondering if someone missed, since they kept announcing their names

On the Med cruise there were lots of folks who booked private tours in the ports. So of course at every port they were paging someone right at the time we were supposed to leave. At one of the last ports, the Capt announced that we would have to leave on time that day, and literally begged everyone to be back by the all aboard time!

Nope no signs on our doors I made two huge Mickey and Minnie's to put on our window so when we got off the ship we could see which room was ours but since I left all of our door stuff at home I put them on the door to our rooms but my minnie somehow grew legs and walked off.:tiptoe:

During the meet the boys had just gotten out of the pool so naturally they were starving, they ate at the table a few feet away from everyone, I snuck off for a bit and grabbed our lanyards. I am sure we crossed each other at some time or another but since we don't know what each other looks like it kinda makes it hard to tell...:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

During the group pic we were in line to see mickey and when we finished y'all were finished.

I was wearing a green shirt and a green lanyard...does that help at all?? :rotfl:

No drama at all...just the "clique" taking offense and attacking anyone that did not have a "Magical" vacation. We went onto the ship with an open mind, but based on comments in this thread and on this board had very high expectations which sadly were not met. We are disappointed as for less money we have had the same if not more enjoyable experiences.

I am not sure what cruise you were on, but we felt hounded to buy the case of water or the wine package, to attend the shopping presentation, to buy a pin, or to play bingo. There is just as much nickeling and diming going on with DCL as there is on other lines.

Again, we are not a clique, everyone on this thread was accepted, from what I can see you brought the negativity upon yourself, and we all reacted to it and you. I think most have been very nice considering your attitude. And yes we had high expecations, were they all met, no, but such is life. My DH lost his glasses and could not see for serveral days. He walked around with is sunglasses, day and nite, inside and out. We spent our Island time searching to get him new ones. We spent alot of time and money to that end...magical?? Umm...no. DH got seasick..magical...no. I was concerned he wouldn't want to go on the next 2 cruises we booked, and yes even after the glasses mishap, we booked onboard again. We had a mediocore room hostess and a below average beverage server. We dealt with all these issues and moved on, we didn't let it effect our vacation.

We met tons of wonderful people...all the disers. The disers were the talk of the ship, with out shirts and lanyards. I am sure there will be a bunch more people onthe boards due to alot of us. Dh met people that had cruised before but this was their first Disney, and they said DCL was the best. Everyone we met was freindly and welcoming. Staff members always had smiles. Our main server more than made up for our beverage server. Meeting and getting signed sketches from Don Ducky Williams was wonderful treat. Having Chanukah services and Sabbath Services was a wonderful suprise. The Rabbi was very nice. All the kids I met were polite, and held doors and it was really nice.

We were never hounded to buy anything. We were asked once about the wine and water packages. On the Wonder, they hounded us. I even mentioned to DH that they were more low key on the Magic. They made bingo announcements, and talked about the shopping, but I was never asked once in person to attend. I was hounded on the Islands to buy buy buy, but never once on the ship was I pressured to do anything. Ok, I take it back, DJ Mike wanted to make sure my DH and his "hot tub crew" made it to their end of cruise show, which we did and was AWESOME!!

We plan on being back onthe Magic in August, and are requesting our server again, and we are hoping the DJ Mike, David, and Keyon are on board again. We are looking forward to seeing Don Williams again.

My only regret is that we can't sail again sooner or more often!!!

Life is what you make of it and well, you are just to negative. Your attitude your "stories (I am being nice with that word)", you get back what you give out, so please stop blaming us, the clique. If you don't like us and the attitude here, and since you don't plan on sailing DCL again, do yourself and all of us a favor, and leave.

Oh, Happy New Year!!

An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who intentionally posts controversial messages in an on-line community such as an on-line discussion forum with the intention of baiting other users into an argumentative response.

....we're thinking of moving to Orlando and working for Disney.
I've been trying to convince Jim to do this for more than 25 years. We were hooked after our very first visit to WDW. He's never been interested until now. After the cruise we went to PO Riverside for a few days. While we were there, he suddenly asked me how long it is until I can retire (5 more years!). He wants to know how I would feel if we moved to Orlando and work for Disney. Friends of ours are doing that next year (they already have jobs lined up!), and our DS is being considered for a dispatching job at the Reedy Creek Fire District headquarters, so the whole family would be together. Hmm, now that he thinks it's his idea, I guess we'll be CM's in about five years, less if I can take an early buyout at the end of my current contract, which is three more years!

Castaway Cay really was much nicer than Labadee, and I was amazed at the lack of flies at the buffet.
Amber--it's funny that you mentioned this. I've often wondered why there are no flies at the buffet, and so few insects anywhere on the island! We so some huge dragonflies at the beach, but they're the only insects we saw. We did see a lot of fish in the water, including some really pretty ones that were actually jumping out of the water around our feet.

The best cast member offers are if you leave in very short notice, so unless i get "sick" we just get 15% off, because my office is so strict about vacation time. So us cruising again later this year depends on luck and lots of wedding present money hopefully:rolleyes1 I forgot that we need to go to New York as soon as my work lets me, so we are crossing our fingers for september!
I am still not unpacked from the trip which is a bit embarrassing...but i still have to finish my holiday shopping!
rbennet: I want to move to Orlando too! There really are alot of opportunities there, in Tampa my option was answering calls or emails. PM me if you are thinking of applying, i can give you my personel number...disney likes referals.

O.k....maybe i should be unpacking.....but that means the vacation is officially over:sad2:

I think we should all work for DCL and revamp the Castaway Club! I'll be able to retire from the AF in 2013!!

Unfortunately, it won't be until around 2009 when we move (if Robby doesn't change his mind :goodvibes Something about paying off bills or something like that. I don't see a problem!!! :rolleyes1 ) We will definately look you guys up when we go to casting and apply. If we don't get to go on the cruise in September :sad1:, I'm trying to talk him into taking a short trip to WDW to go to casting. Wish us luck!!!!

No drama at all...just the "clique" taking offense and attacking anyone that did not have a "Magical" vacation.

The only "clique" we have here, is a Group of addicted Disney Cruise Line Groupies who for me personally, after 8 Cruises and 4 more booked, get alittle defensive when you attact DCL and then anyone who doesn't agree with you about DCL.. You have been Negative ALL along.. so of course your experience would be more on the Negative side.. and I'm not trying to attack you, but, again, if you don't like it here.. why stay? Because in my opinion, you are the one whom is causing Drama, even when you claim you're not..

I am not sure what cruise you were on, but we felt hounded to buy the case of water or the wine package, to attend the shopping presentation, to buy a pin, or to play bingo. There is just as much nickeling and diming going on with DCL as there is on other lines.

The only time I felt "hounded" was on the first day, when we were getting lunch at the Buffet, where every CM that came near us asked us about the Water package.. However, after lunch.. no one asked us again.. And to defend DCL.. they see so many people in those few hours at lunch, they don't know who asked whom for the package.. I was polight to each one and said No thank you..

I am sorry you did not have a Great Magical 1st Time Experience... and I hope one day, you will try DCL again.. Remember.. nothing is Perfect and if you expect it to be.. you will be sadly disappointed..

We have tried 3 other Cruiselines and we like DCL the best... The friendly "Disney" atmosphere from Crew and Guests, in our opinion Can't be beat..

Yikes!!! :scared1:

I have to drop off DS's Pasta Vodka for his Christmas party at Vocational School.... Back Later

I wish everyone on this thread well but now we are focused on the PC for March on Royal. It is just too hard to keep up with old threads and make new plans.

I thought this would mean we would not have the pleasure of your company on this thread anymore. :confused3 I wish you well as well. Enjoy your upcoming trips, see you on Cruise Critic boards.:surfweb:
