So... I was looking at the November schedule for St Thomas and it looks like the Magic has to tender on both the 14th and the 28th. Which struck me as odd. I thought they'd make the ships "take turns."

So I suppose the two ways to look at this are 1 - the Magic is having to tender lately for some reason. Or 2 - since they're tendering on both their two trips before ours, perhaps we'll be back into prime position for getting a dock spot.

I'm gonna choose to go with option 2. :)

OK, I am so angry right now!!! We just found out that our 6 year old son (I can't say DS) eat 3/4 of his candy. All the wrappers were in his garbage in his room. He was already grounded for some other things, but this is nuts. I have found him stealing treats before, and I have the pretzels, the cookies on top of the fridge. I am buying and installing a padlock on my pantry tomorrow. The only thing he can eat will be real food, fruits, veggies, water..no snacks no pretzels..nada zip..for a very long time. MIL is taking him and DD to Atlantic City next week, and I told her...no junk for him..nothing...nada zilch.

I also took out all his DVD's and a 1/3 of his toys. I am soooooooo angry.

I am very careful about what my kids eat. I am very pooh sized and was a fat kid, and I didn't want my kids to be that way. They have food, treats, they can have a snack in the afternoon, and dessert. I have cookies pretzels..fruits veggies. I buy ice cream. They have stuff, and they get it, limited but they get treats every day. I have no idea why he is doing this and why he didn't learn and kept on doing it. :sad2:

Yes, this is why DrHug describes me as Rubenesque. :rolleyes1 Google artist Rubens...

Jim describes me as Rubenesque also!

Well actually we live with them, I figured why am I paying over $1,000 a month for rent, phone, cable, water, electricity...etc. when they would come over everyday after work stay until the boys went to sleep and sleep over on the weekends......so with the money I am saving we get to go to WDW ...
We're the parents here, and "the kids" live with us. It was the same kind of thing--we were paying more than $1200 rent and they were paying more than $1500, plus all those utilities. We ate all of our meals together anyway, and they were usually in our apartment anyway. When the opportunity for this house came up, we jumped on it. Our combined costs are a lot less, and the savings will be going to WDW/DCL. So we don't actually have any more money, but we'll have good vacations!

Now, I have a question. Why does it make a difference whether or not we tender into a port? We've never been to a port except for Nassau and Castaway Cay, and Wonder docks at both of those ports.

Well if you tender you are taking a boat into port, so it takes longer to get on and off the ship. Also if you tender at St. Thomas, it is a different spot then if we docked.

So the problem then is the amount of time it takes to get where you're going? That makes sense, I suppose! Thanks!

 I'm sorry you're having a rough time. We don't have kids yet, but this is one of my biggest fears. I'm pooh sized myself and have been since spending a summer with my grandparents when I was 5 years old. I know when we do have kids, I'll worry about it every day cause I'd never want my child to go through that growing up. But seeing kids today, I know you're a great mom for putting so much energy into making sure they eat well.

Yeah, and also the ease. We're more likely to run back to the ship to drop off purchases or grab lunch if we're docked than if we were tendered. It just doesn't seem worth the hassle when you have to wait for a tender on both ends and then the actual time on the tender as well. That's prime shopping time being wasted! :rotfl:

OK, we're shoppers, not buyers, so I rarely go back to the ship to drop off purchases. We very rarely buy much on our travels, a habit we developed partially as a result of living in tiny apartments for so long. We don't drink much, I'm not into jewelry, so usually we buy tee shirts and postcards and that's about it. I love going to new places and taking pictures. I could spend an entire day taking pictures and never leave the port, so I might have to go back to the ship to empty my memory cards!
