Dusted the Living Room... Time for a

OK, so I have to ask you ALL... Who makes Lists of Planning things?

DH thinks I'm nuts.. I think it is part of my OCD.. Only never realised it until now.. I make Lists all the time.. Not just 1 or once but like 3 or 4 at a time for things.. K, here is an example..

We were on the plane to come home Sunday morning and I remembered something else I needed for the December cruise.. So into my bag I go and I pulled out a Wad of paper and a pen.. Not sure why.. But I can't keep lists in a notebook.. They have to be seperate.. Ok so anyway.. DH looks over and asks what's all that.. and I said my lists.. He said of what.. and I showed him..

He looks them over, hands them back, and says to me... Do you know you have a Compulsion Planning problem.. I took the lists and I said Yes, Yes I do and Thank You very much for noticing

I had several Lists.. One of each.. I can't seem to put them on 1 Big page.. I need them on small seperate ones..

What clothes I have in FL
What clothes DH has in FL
What clothes DS has in FL
What Makeup I have in FL
What Makeup I have in my Travel Bag *currently in FL for the cruise*
What clothes I need from NJ for the cruise
What clothes DH needs from NJ for the cruise
Measurements of ALL the windows of the FL house *Proudly on 1 sheet*

Is This Normal ?

Cause I'm starting to think having 8 seperate lists may not be so normal..

omg... this is so me. I have lists of my lists so I won't forget what I already have a list of!! DH makes fun of me, but he knows better than to ask if I got him something at the store that he didn't ask about before I went. Cause, "Nope, it wasn't on the list."

My newest compulsion with them though is that I got a Sidekick about 2 or 3 months ago and it has a whole tab for just making lists. So now we'll be out in the middle of somewhere and I flip the screen up on my Sidekick to add to my list. Hey, if you think of something randomly, how else are you going to remember it?

Right now, the top 4 are (they update and keep themselves in order by edited date) are Grocery list, Cruise list, Christmas list, and Carryon list (stuff I wanna take with me on the plane vs what I check in luggage).

Thanks everyone, DD was doing fine today. Back to school.

I was a chainsaw wielding woman as I cut up dead branches for our chiminea this morning. There were literal frost on the pumpkins, but we still have not turned on our heat. We did close the windows last night though. Fell asleep during "Heroes".

Tonight on Reaper, Patton Oswalt who voiced "Ratatoullie" is going to be playing an escaped soul who begs Sam to not turn him in since hell is closed on Halloween.

DS left for school and it is dark out.. I hate this time to see him have to go out in the cold in the dark.. I will pick him up after school at 1:05 pm since I am off from BAB today.. He will drive himself to the Orthodontist for a 2:45pm appointment to fix his broken bottom pallet expander.. Then it is Trick or Treat from 2-8pm.. Guess because it is a school night the town decided to call the Ghosts & Gobblins in early..

Stacy, curious, what's your boy's school day, is he normally done by 1 or is it just the appt? Seems ridiculous to me that they start kids so early...especially as we know now that teens REALLY aren't good at functioning in the morning for legitimate reasons...

I hate this time of year too, noticed the other day it was dark around 6. Next week's going to kill me once standard time kicks in again...

Definitely a list maker. Especially for entertaining/cleaning--had a kid-party on the w/e and I had to make my to-do list before I could sleep a few days before...mostly so I can feel like I'm getting somewhere, like "clean counter clutter"--check! Otherwise it feels like I've not made progress!

And yes, cleaning warrants reward breaks.

I have a list-making program that sorts everything so that I can see what's already on the list.

But clearly it's time to go high-tech... I used to use the "to do" tab on outlook at work but it was too depressing--I only used it for the things I HATED and somehow they never got checked off...

Oh, just wanted to add good wishes for the kids, Amber's dd and Jasmine and Stacy's ds going back to the orthodontist...

Dd's got evidence of a tummy bug ('nuf said) and is now freaking out that I mentioned "I hope you're not too sick for trick or treating". STUPID mommy!!

Normal is anything that works for you. But I would be so tempted to take all those lists and put them in one binder, and then separate them by color coded tabs.

Another option is to go digital. My phone is also a pocket pc, so I can save, edit, and review documents on it. You could have all your lists in one place!

I don't think I can use a Palm Pilot.. Only because I need to be able to see everything on the list or I'd be adding the same things Twice and I flip through them constantly to make sure I didn't forget anything..

I don't know I think Beth and I could bring you over to the "dark side". It's been done before.

I have a list-making program that sorts everything so that I can see what's already on the list. I can check things off and then see either the checked or unchecked stuff, or everything. It also has an alarm clock program which was really handy today since my alarm clock broke yesterday and never went off in the AM! Beth

Ooh, a list making program! Which one do you use?

I use the Splash Suite on my phone. There's one password protected application that lets you store all of your frequent flyer numbers, passwords, etc. I miss the Splash Shopper they used to have. I used it in California, and had the grocery items reconciled with the aisle they were on in the Miramar Commissary. After I created the list, I'd sort it by aisle and zip, zip!

2 more hours til Trick or Treat !!!! but, I'm sure I will be back in between because the Housework is Done !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still have to bake the cookies and cake but that won't take long and I can Dis while it bakes

Thanks Joanne. After a full day of lounging on the couch watching TV - Tivo is empty, and there are stacks of DVDs on the coffee table - she is feeling better.

I hope your DD feels better soon. Tummy bugs are no fun. I'm sure she'll make a miraculous recovery in time to eat halloween candy.

Jasmine caught something the last few days of our first Disney cruise. We were at the character breakfast and she threw up into her napkin. She refused to leave though before she saw the characters. So we've got all these cute photos of Jasmine smiling happily with the characters, with a plate full of crackers in front of her. I think she threw up twice in between the characters but you'd never know from the pics. At the time we thought it was seasickness. But she woke up a few days later - disembarkation day and was throwing up all over the place. She threw up in the terminal, she threw up on the bus. I got a wheelchair for her in the airport, but she threw up right until we got on the plane. Luckily it was nonstop back to LA, and she slept the whole way.

I think it was about 6 months later that we were in a garden store, and we saw one of those fountains where water comes out of an animals mouth. Jasmine said, "that looks like Jasmine on the Disney cruise!" Glad she could laugh about it.

Ooh, a list making program! Which one do you use?

It's called "Shop List", and I think it came with the Palm Pilot when I got it. I also have Documents To Go, so I can add my Excel spreadsheets and Word docs. I prefer the list program because I can customize it to do just about anything I want, and it's simple so that I don't have to think too much about it.

It has a camera, too, so that I can take pictures and make notes about them (great for shopping!) and a voice recorder so I can take notes when I talk to myself. It goes everywhere I go, and stays beside the bed at night so that when I wake up in the middle of the night worrying about whether or not my luggage matches, I can write it down and think about it in the morning.

Wow!! I just have to say.... DISers really ARE OCD!!!! I'm the exact opposite! I don't write anything down and if I forget it, it wasn't meant to be. When I'm on vacation and I think of something I forgot I'm just like, "Oh well! I'm on vacation!"

My son is in a Vocational School program as well as High School.. His typical day is Get on the bus at 6:30am, goes to High School *20 minutes ride* he then has History, Math, English, Gym and about 20 minutes for lunch, gets on his Vocational School bus *25 minute ride* arrives at Vocts at about 11am abd stays there til 1:05pm.. Takes a Bus back to the High School*25 minutes* and sits in an empty Caffeteria fo another 20 minutes until school lets out at 2pm.. Takes the Bus home and gets in around 2:35pm..

The Vocational School * due to parking* won't let him drive from HS to Vocts.. There is no reason he needs to go back to HS after Vocts because he has no classes.. Sooooooo instead of him sitting there and waiting for school to be dismissed.. I go to Vocts and pick him up at 1:05pm and we are home by 1:30.. If he has to take the bus back and forth he has an hour alone in Travel times.. which is just plain idiotic in my opinion.. So on my days off I pick him up instead.. Thank Goodness it is the Last year I will have to deal with this..

I am fearful though about storing important stuff on my phone. If Jennifer sees me take out my phone while on the cruise, it is likely going overboard.
