I've got some sad news. My grandfather passed away this morning.

Jason
Jason (and family): I am sorry to hear of your loss. You and the family will be in my prayers. Now he is in a better place and no longer suffering.

Okay, DD just turned 2 and we are beginning to work on the potty training thing...obviously, she won't be potty trained by the time we sail.

I don't know if you can find it where you are, but there is a wonderful book called "Toilet Training In Less Than One Day". It's an older book, I used it for my son, but we were able to get a copy when Shannan was born, and I have given many as shower gifts over the years. It actually works if your child is ready. My son was 22 months, it took one day, and he never had an accident afterwards. Of course, he was fascinated with bathrooms for years afterwards! We also used it for Shannan when she was about 28 months, also getting ready to go on a Disney Cruise. It worked for her, too! It's a completely non-stressful method, but you do have to dedicate your entire day to making it work.

Good morning!

I am so behind and will never catch up with all the posts. I am proud to say that I am still pirate free after all my posts. Do you think I can stay that way until we sail?

I don't have any either! I'm just never around at the right time. I think I have "anti-pirate radar";).

We just got finished planting a bunch of tulips and still have more to go. I wish we had rented a roto-tiller.

Our house was new construction and of course the flower beds contain all sorts of rocks, bricks and other building materials. Dh bought $20 auger that attaches to a drill, but still it did not like all those rocks and bricks. Let's see how many the squirrels go for now. :lmao:
We planted crocuses today. Our house is very old, and it's on a hill. The ground is as hard as cement, so you have my sympathy!

Wendy: Pleae put us down for two lanyards. Cruise-specific would be nice, plain will be just fine too!

OK, I think I'm all caught up with the posts! We spent our afternoon setting up our tent. We decided it would be nice to make sure that we can do it before we actually get to WDW and discover that we can't! It went up very easily. Of course, we were working on a beautiful, sunny afternoon. With the way our luck runs, we'll end up pitching camp in the middle of the night in a roaring thunderstorm! We've done that more times than I care to think about right now. After we got everything set up we put our inflatable beds inside and my DS looked around and decided that maybe next year is the year we'll buy a camper! And Shannan had no idea that most tents don't have bathrooms. She was horrified to find out that she will actually have to go outside and walk to a comfort station in the middle of the night if nature calls! Then she said "Grandma, you have to go 20 times a night. Just make me go with you every time!"

OK, now it's off to pack for Atlantic City. I'll be back later on after that's all done.

Beth

Jason I am very sorry for your loss. I am pleased, though, that you got to have a good visit with him recently; that will be a comfort to you, and to remember him with your kids, and I'm sure it brought him joy. Thinking of you and your family.

I've got some sad news. My grandfather passed away this morning......Jason

I am so sorry for your loss. It sounds like everyone is taking it as well as can be expected, but your family and specifically your grandmother is in our prayers. We hope and pray that everyone will be able to get through this strong. Let us know if there is anything else we can do, even if it is just a specific prayer or letting you know that you are still in our thoughts. :grouphug:

Ok, so I've seen duct tape on a couple of packing lists. Besides the obvious "everything" what do you need it for??

I won't be needing a clothespin for holding the drapes closed against that pesky Caribbean sun! Lucky me! ;) (Actually, I may be needing a wakeup call...these dark mornings I am having a hard time dragging out of bed...)

Oh, that reminds me--there's nothing to play music in the cabins, eh? Is there a music channel on the tv? I'm thinking I'll find some wee packable speakers for my MP3... :confused3 I'm thinking about that Lilo and Stitch soundtrack and how helpful it can be when we are needing a boost to get ready for dinner or whatever. :goodvibes

Don't know about the rest of your questions, but I've read that bringing a clock that glows is helpful if you're stateroom doesn't have a window.

Oh, and I think the duct tape is for making sure the closets stay put if the ship is moving much. We didn't need/use duct tape on our first cruise and we had some pretty rough seas due to a hurricane. I don't remember the closet door banging, but maybe I've forgotten. :confused3

:confused3 Sorry honey. I didn't mean to post when you were. See, this 80 seconds rule has us at a disadvantage at times. :confused3

- Jennifer

I'm telling you that ya'll need to get the tag "5.1" so you can post faster. :surfweb:

:lmao: That reminds me of one particular Christmas. One of our many Christmas morning traditions is to have a fire going in the fireplace while we open presents and eat breakfast. Well it was a unusually warm Christmas Day(even for Texas standards) so I was running the A/C so we that it would be cool enough for a fire. :rotfl2: Didn't want to be sitting there sweating our rear ends off...doesn't make one think of a traditional Christmas. :goodvibes A memory that we will always have though.

- Bill

DH & I drink our coffee or tea and DS drinks hot cocoa while they open their stockings, in front of the Yule Log burning on TV :happytv: Oh and we get new Christmas jammies every year that we put on, Christmas Eve for Christmas morning pictures

Hmmm...I think we heard a similar statement from a certain Stacy. :rolleyes1 And now look where she is in the standings. The pirate: attraction is just too much to deny. :lmao:

- Bill

I blame all of you Pirate Booty Chasing Wenches :rotfl2:
You converted me to the Dark Side :darth:

Lanyard Count:
JsMom2 - 7
Fldisfanatic - 4
CoastGirl - 4 (Voting for Cruise Specific v Generic)
Mrs Mork - 11

Please let me know ASAP if you are interested in ordering a lime green lanyard. They are sold in units of 100. If we don't need 100 between all of us, I'll see if the DISers on one of the other sailings want to buy some. Of course, this would mean we'd need to go with the generic wording.

Thanks!
Wendy

Wendy... Maybe try my September 08 cruise.. I believe, if they didn't already do it.. There are planning on giving landyards with name badges.. It's worth a shot..

And I will take some.. umm but I need a head count first so I'll let you know.. But if you need a bunch.. I'll take a bunch if they are generic and use them for the kiddies on the Sept cruise.. :thumbsup2

I went shopping today!

I went to the fabric store and I think I'm gonna actually try to make myself a taffeta skirt for formal night :scared: If it works, I'll wear it with a velvet top I have. If it doesn't work, I'm back to being nekkid.

I also went to Michael's. They're having a 2 day only Veteran's Day Sale and I got 3 picture frames for $3.99 each! I had to get a different colored mat for one of them, but even adding that on, it still wasn't as much as the regular price of the frame. :thumbsup2 I also use the 50% off coupon on some transfer paper so I'm gonna give putting a design on my lime green shirt a go. We'll see how that turns out.

Getting all the "little" things done. :goodvibes

I've got some sad news. My grandfather passed away this morning. They lived near Springfield Missouri for many years after retiring, and I was only able to visit them a couple of times in the past 15 years. Last year they moved closer to family, both of my aunts live in Peru, Illinois. October 6th we celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary, and I was able to take all the kids to see them. Ryan who's 1 and Ben who's 5 met them for the first time. He had a severe case of asbestoses from working with asbestos back in the 70's and 80's. He was in the hospital for about a week, fighting to breath every second. When he was admitted he was at about 48% oxygen levels in his blood.

I knew this day was coming soon, when I saw him last month I could tell that he was tired of fighting, and I gave him a big hug and kiss on the cheek. I was glad that he got to see my children before he passed. My favorite memories are of playing pinochle with him, grandma, and my mom every time we met. Probably the hardest part is that my grandma is in the early stages of alzheimer's , and we're not sure if she's going to wake up tomorrow asking where Don is.

I don't want to drag down the mood here, we'll all have a lot of fun on the cruise, but I thought I'd share with you all. My mom is taking it very well. She's a lifetime nurse, and worked most of my childhood at a nursing home. She knows that Don is better where he is now, and that there's no more pain, and there's no more struggle for him.

Take care all, I'll talk to you again on Monday.

Jason

Wow.. I am so sorry for your loss.. Pixie Dust :wizard: and Prayers and Blessing for you and your family..

I thought duct tape was to make sure your over stuffed suitcases close :confused3

Today was suppose to be my day off.. but, Nope.. I was called this morning and asked to come in at 11am.. I worked 11 - 5 and was rather annoyed.. We were so busy.. and I never even got my break.. and YET 2 people Left to go home before me..

We were soooo busy again!! :faint:

We are sold out of the Rudolph song.. and Rudolph, along with the clothes.. The only thing we have left is Clarice.. and I opened the last box of her before I left..

:scared:

Oh and Wendy...
I should of checked ALL the posts BEFORE I started to reply..

You can put me down for 1 Landyard since DH won't wear one..

I did like Dis' is How we do it Dec 8th 2007 for wording but I am fine with whatever is on it... :thumbsup2
