That was another fear I had!! Tina had a guy come into her office the other day that had done the college intern program and he said the thing that messed with him the most was walking underneath the park and.... [shield little kids from this]........

saw Mickey w/out a head!!!! :scared1: He said he is now traumatized and I think I would be the same way!!!!
It would creep me out to see Mickey without his head too!:scared1:

My family lives in Northern Virginia, about an hour south of DC. I also lived there for a year before moving to Texas. I've been to Roanoke. I took a bus from DC to Little Rock, Arkansas to visit my sister one year. That is a story for another day. . . The bus stopped in Roanoke.

- Jennifer

I'm hoping for your sake it wasn't a long stop :scared1: If I remember correctly where the bus station is in downtown Roanoke, you probably don't have good memories of the place. heh Once you get out of Roanoke though, it's a beautiful area.

Stacy - sometimes, when the smilies don't work for me, if I mouse click somewhere out of the text screen, then click back to place the cursor where I want the smiley, it'll work on the second try. That's the only thing I've come up with though. :confused3

Jennifer - where is your family in VA? I was born and raised in Salem - right outside Roanoke.

Thanks.. but, DS fixed it for me

Internet Explorer had an update and changed all the settings.. without asking.. :snooty: rude...

It would creep me out to see Mickey without his head too!:scared1:

- Jennifer

I have a charm bracelet i've had since I was 5 on my 1st trip to WDW and it has a Mikey Head but he lost his Body :scared1:

Pooh lost a bee

I've never seen the same type of chrams since so I can't even replace them

I actually had a friend at work (who is a big Disney freak as well) and he did the backstage tour the last time he was there. From what he told me, I have no desire to do it as it would kill some of the magic for me. He said it was extremely trashed out in several areas where it looked like people didn't care and several "disgruntled" employees were willing to share their experiences during the tour. In fact, when they went underground under Magic Kingdom, they passed by the princess dressing room and several of them were coming in to work dressed extremely provacotively and that just felt wrong to him. He said there were some cool parts but he almost wishes he had never done it. :( I like my magic :wizard: just the way it is. :goodvibes

Mmmmmm! Dunkin' Donuts. Bill and I were just talking about them the other day. We don't have one near us. :confused3 I am not a coffee drinker, but they do have good coffee and my favorite chocolate glazed donuts. I miss them from up north. I haven't hear about a Stop & Shop since I lived up north either. Starbucks is taking over the world! My Dad lives in MA. He is a DD coffee drinker. However, always when they come to TX his eyes would light up when he saw a Starbucks. He was like a kid siting a candy store. So, he called me all excited last month. His town finally had a Starbucks! You would have thought he'd won the lottery! :lmao:

We just recently got a D&D across the street almost from our neighborhood.. :thumbsup2 DH used to get it near work so by the time he got home it was cooled enough to drink.. but now, I open the lid and wait 20 minutes but the smell is heaven :cloud9:

Not sure but I made a double post instead of an edit..
so I am changing my post here...

Jennifer & Bill ... How do you both post using the same name? and if you both use it shouldn't you have more Posts then you do.. lol..

The first roadtrip we took to WDW, Bill drove home in one night! :scared1: We got into LA and he got his "second wind" and wanted to keep on driving home. That was a crazy night. Sometimes after a trip, you just want to get home. Bill vowed to NEVER drive it all in one shot again. He was so tired the next day. :confused3

- Jennifer

We drove from Tampa as far west as Lafayette LA and back in--98 or 99 (PRE kids!), and I think we spent a couple of weeks doing it. But of course that was a really cool trip through places we'd never seen. Our so-far "crowning achievement" is coast to coast (across Canada--remember we're BIGGER ;) ). We moved from St. John's Newfoundland to Victoria BC in 95 and Ron drove a 32 ft UHaul with all our worldly belongings. Took 10 days/about 4500 miles. Sloooow going in a UHaul. But we got to see all ten provinces (ok, 9, the ferry to Prince Edward Island would've been totally extraneous) in a solid span that fall. One day we'll do that with the kids, but NOT in a Uhaul.

It does seem to be a "man" thing. I enjoy the exploring part, and we don't come to blows (much) over the navigating any more, but ugh. 8,10,12 hrs in a car...not my idea of a relaxing vacation day...

EEEEK! :scared:

Have been thinking about connecting the kids beforehand. I know my kids would love it, and it might be just what I need to get ds keyboarding! (He's pretty good with the mouse, but even that Pumbaa and Timon typing program isn't as interesting as the games at Lego... ) But I don't feel great about the kids posting "publicly", especially in a getting-to-know-you kind of thread. I see the pm's here only seem to go to a max of 5, don't know if we could build a distribution list? I'd be happy to build a regular email dis(tribution!) list and they could just "reply all".

Anyway, if you're interested, you can pm me and I'll try to pull it together. Even if it's just a few of the kids, we can share some photos or something.

Hey Bill! Aren't you suppose to be coming home?!?!?!?! You aren't texting and driving again? :lmao: This site is hazardous to Bill's health!

- Jennifer

Reading you and Bill's posts are like watching a foreign movie with subtitles. I have to keep looking down to see who's name is there. :lmao:

Bill jokes about working for WDW when he retires. However, I think that may kill some of the "magic" if he worked there. I majored in Recreation and Leisure Management in college because I wanted to work at WDW. However, I never made it down to Orlando until I met Bill.

- Jennifer

I'm not joking about it! :thumbsup2

3798 days until I retire!
:goodvibes

We actually had so many posts at one time that the odometer rolled over and they started us back at 0. That was right before we reached the end of the Internet. :lmao:

We have yet to venture on an airplane with all three children. :dance3: That is one of the reasons we were thinking of doing a Trans-Atlantic cruise in conjunction with a European cruise in a few years. They do great in the car, but I don't know how well they would do on an airplane for six/seven hours. I sure hope the rumors of DCL going to Alaska are true. That would be one of our "dream cruises". The current ones are so expensive. I can't even imagine what DCL would charge!

- Jennifer

Hehe, we were going to fly to Orlando on my FF Points for the cruise, but they only had a three stop flight down... we said "Oh hell no to that." So we spent the $1200 to get 6 seats on a direct flight. We've flown with our two older boys, they were 9 and 5 at the time, and it was fine. The only thing that worries me is the airport, and that's not too bad, we're flying out of Milwaukee, which is a lot smaller than O'Hare.

Brack: My boss is Jacob Jones. He played in the mid 70's for the Knicks, the 76'ers, Cleveland and ended his career with Baltimore. If you remember your basketball, he played with the Knicks at the same time as Phil Sellers. Phil's son was in my second grade class when I was teaching. If you know your college hoops and remember Bryan Caver who played for Seton Hall in the early 90's--I was his assistant basketball coach in grammar school. My boss's best friend is Jim Clemmons, who I think is back with the Lakers these days. He stops in to the office whenever his teams are in the NY/NJ metro area.
