Don't even think that you're the only "newbie"!! DW and I have never been on a cruise either, it's just since we booked this in April of '06 we've had a LOT of time to plan every detail of this. The problem is we've planned it in our HEADS, but we have yet to buy any clothes for the cruise or the items we want for the Secret Mickey. :rolleyes1

I still have Secret Santa shopping to do also!

Well.... if you can believe this; Tina and I are packing up and leaving Thursday night, around 11:00 or midnight, and driving straight to the port nonstop. :coffee: We'll arrive Friday afternoon cause it's around a 14 1/2 hour drive. We actually kind of like to drive because it helps build the excitement a little bit more. But to answer your question, we're staying at the Country Inn and Suites. We heard it was the closest, so..... anyway!! Look at the ticker now!!! IT SAYS 1 month (I don't look at the add'l days.)

ROADTRIP!! We love roadtrips too! We are old now and don't drive 14 hours at a time, but split it up into shorter days.

Whoa... if they go to Australia in 2010, I'm on that one. I just got back from second Oz trip in May and loved it all over again. I was planning on going back next August, 2008. If they do a 2010 sailing, I'll take a miss on 2009 to be able to pay for it!

I'm hoping they reposition one of the ships to Hawaii in 2010. Possible with the new DVC resort opening there. Starting rumors here! ;)

:goodvibes All is well in the world today (at least in Texas!). . .

:cool1: I am sooooooooo glad the Cowboys won last night! Bill was born and raised in Texas. So, he is a die-hard Cowboys fan. My Dad, in MA, called right after the first (of many) intereceptions. He joked that Brady would NEVER have done that. We always make a bet with my Dad when the Cowboys play the Patriots (every few years). Last year, we bet him who would go further in the play-offs. Needless to say, we sent him some lobsters last year. We can't wait to make a little waiger for the upcoming game. :rolleyes1 Since moving to Texas, I have become a Cowboys fan.:cheer2: However, I will ALWAYS be a Red Sox fan!

- Jennifer

My Dad was a native Texan also and loved his Cowboys! :cheer2:

That's what my parents and my DB and DSIL all do as well. After a while it just plain hurts to sit that long and drive that straight. I have to attribute my driving on my honeymoon to nerves/excitement. DW INSISTED that our honeymoon would not start until we were at Disney, so after our wedding we went back to the apartment, showered, packed up the car, and jumped straight into the car and drove 13 1/2 hours. So000....I was SO tired the next day!! We got to Disney at 9:00am, checked in, and hit the parks. So I went from the morning of my wedding, to the night AFTER my wedding night, on 30 minutes sleep!! :coffee: I would just like to say, THAT'S when you know you have a Disney problem: You won't start your honeymoon until you drive almost 14 hours to Disney!! :lmao:

I've been giving  Bill (DH) lots of hugs and kisses over the weekend. I can't believe we are going to WDW in a couple of weeks! We didn't want to sign up for DVC "blindly". We need to see the facilities first-hand. Also, we are hoping if we do sign-up now, we could use some of the points for our December trip. THANK YOU HONEY!

I was always curious why people had signatures with more than one DVC property on it. That makes sense to buy into more than one to have the priority booking. (Thanks Wendy!) However, would we have to buy 160 point for each additional property?

- Jennifer

After your initial purchase you can add on fewer points at a second, third, fourth resort. We started with 250 at VWL added on just 100 at BCV. DrHug is really wanting more points! I'm thinking wait until they open in Hawaii. :cool1:

:lmao: :lmao: Yes, you obviously have a Disney addiction. But, you are among people here who completely understand! :lmao:

So at the 11 month mark, you can only book a 100 points worth of time at BCV? I know you can bank and borrow to get that higher, but I am just trying to understand the concept. :confused3 Also, at the 7 mont mark, I assume you could add more nights if you needed at BCV from you VWL points? Thanks Angie!

- Bill

Mrs Mork, last December did ladies wear white sandals, capris and shorts? I still get hung up on the no white shoes & pants from Labor Day until Memorial Day. (yes I am showing my age)

Jennifer, glad you are back, I missed you.

:thumbsup2 Thank you for the info! As you can tell, Bill and I are both excited by the idea of owning in the DVC. We want to find out everything we can before the monthly obligation. I am looking at it as a "vacation fund".

:cloud9: DVC in Hawaii! We have always wanted to go there, but the hotels are so expensive. That would be nice to have a DVC property there too.

Hi, Judy!

While I'm not Mrs. Mork, I can assure that lots of women wore white ANYTHING in December. The "rules" are different in the tropics, since it stays hot all the time. Wear whatever makes you feel cool and comfortable.

Awwwww! Thank you Judy! :flower3:

 I have to admit, I wear white after Labor Day. :scared1: We are going to be in the Caribbean. So, I plan to wear white shorts, capris and sandals during the cruise. I hope the people from "What Not to Wear" don't pop out and catch me. . . :rotfl:

Yep, that's serious!

Dh is a road-trip addict. All I have to do to talk him into something is add a road trip...This trip was not exciting him until I swapped our airfare to an airport 10 hrs drive from here. We've always done serious road trips, and the kids started when dd was...about 8 mos (ds got away without major road trips til he was about three). The kids are pretty durable about the car time since we bought the dvd player for the back of the van...tons of Disney movies to get us in the mood on our drive!

DD wants the dancing "m&m's". :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

"This is my family. I found it and it's mine. It is little and broken, but still good. Yes. Still good.":stitch2:

Ds is a huge Stitch fan, I'll get him to speak Stitch for you. We've done the Ohana breakfast 3 times in two trips, and I need to schedule it again for this trip. We also have both soundtrack cd's, that music always puts me in a good mood...

We are a "roadtrip" family too! Bill wants to get an RV when he retires to travel the country. I admit, the DVD player in the mini-van has been a lifesaver on many trips. I can play "I Spy" for so long! We aren't telling the kids about the WDW trip in a couple of weeks (they know about the December trip). We plan to just wake them up around 4 am and carry them into the van. They love roadtrips and staying in hotels (so do Bill and I). So, they won't fuss too much not knowing where we are going. I can't wait to see their little faces when we pull through the Walt Disney World Gate. :cool1:

Thanks for the wearing white tips. Yes, cool and comfortable are the keywords!

Stitch tried to eat our children's stuffed animals on Pirate Night. He was a hoot! Make sure to look in your Navigator or call the Character phone number (I can't remember it off-hand, but there is a special phone line to call onboard) to find out when Stitch is in the atrium on Pirate Night. He was all dressed up. Your son will love it!

Hi everyone :hippie:

We've had a busy day today. Jasmine had her first voice lesson this afternoon. She's learning "Holly Jolly Christmas" and "Tears in Heaven." Then we came home and changed before soccer practice. After soccer, we we picked up a friend's DD, who will be staying with us for the next 12 days.

Sorry to hear that some of you are still under the weather.

Angie, thanks for keeping us straight on the DVC info.

Take care everyone, and I'll check in tomorrow.

Yay! I'm still a little misty eyed from watching it last night. I might watch it again this week. :o

Lilo and Stitch and Monster's, Inc. ("Boo!") are the two Disney movies that really make my biological clock start ticking loudly.
