Does anyone think that somewhere there is an insurance agent praying for the Rockies to win the World Series?

http://abcnews.go.com/Business/PersonalFinance/story?id=3771803&page=1

Way back in March and April, Jordan's Furniture ran a promotion: buy any sofa, dining room table, bed or mattress, and if the Red Sox win the World Series then the price of the furniture will be refunded.

Now, that championship could very likely be a reality, and millions of dollars' worth of furniture could be given away.

There's a fast food commercial--maybe Subway? The guy is asking his colleagues if they want him to pick something up for lunch while he's at some burger place--one woman says, "Can you grab me a 'Can my butt look any bigger' meal?" Cracks me up every time.

Too funny! :lmao:

:rotfl: Yep, the Taylors are gonna be in that camp too. And congrats to Jasmine on twisting your rubber arm for the cruise next fall! :thumbsup2

All it took was that one horrified look:scared1:

Well, even the "transitional" clothes weren't fitting.

I've been afraid to try on my summer clothes. :guilty: But I have been doing situps![/QUOTE]

:goodvibes

Well, from an insurance standpoint it wouldn't affect it at all. Just means that the business owner would stand to lose a lot of money. Now if the owner tried to claim that as a covered loss and commit insurance fraud, that would be different.

Actually it would.

Jordan's — like most companies that run such promotions — has taken out prize indemnification insurance, which covers the payouts if the team wins the World Series.

Somewhere some agent or company is going "C'mon ROCKIES".

Amber:

Your little one will probably learn more in those eight days that she's out of school than she would in a month of class!

I don't envy your drive. That's a long time in a car!

Congrats on your park entry, and thank you for your kind offer, even if it doesn't work out. We'll be doing parks for either three or four days in the week before the cruise, and one of those days is definitely 12/7, since we have dinner ADR's in Epcot that night.

I can't wait to get this vacation under way!

However, I'll have to satisfy myself right now with getting the weekend underway. It's going to be gloomy and rainy, so I'll probably be posting a bit!

Beth

Look why don't we have a truce. You go your way and I will go mine or we can continue to bicker like this and take away from the enjoyment we both want as parents about to undertake this cruise.

I was going to initially send you a PM on this matter, but it doesn't work for some reason. You must have it blocked. So, that is the reason I had to send the initial post on the main page for everyone else to read.

Yes, I am going to have a "Magic"al cruise with my family and new friends. :goodvibes

I'd love to know how this would affect insurance if a business owner decides to refund someone's money, just for curiousity sake, and I mean that honestly. I mean since I do insurance every day for a living I look at this as educational.

Back to the cruise and vacation:
Two weeks ago DH made contact through a friend at work with a Disney employee. They have offered to meet us on Thursday and Friday and sign us in to the park and then we can visit any of the parks on their perk gratis. They could not do anything for MVMHP though, so we bought tickets for Thursday night. We will drive down on Wednesday, go to the parks on Thursday until we get worn out. Go offsite rest and have dinner, return for MVMHP and then come back the next day. Friday night we go to the port, stay overnight and get to the ship bright eyed and bushy tailed.

The post below is from flagger on the c r u i s e c r i t i c s . c o m site:
Puppydog will need more than bordatella shots. She has developed a rather pronounced limp.

In other news, a contact through Ms. Flagger's work has scored us free park tickets for Thursday and Friday. We will now not be going Saturday morning.

You can all see now why I was a little confused about flagger and AmberDaClown! I am not a crazy confrontational person.

I am a SAHD and I get tired of people asking when I am going to get a real job now that DD is in pre-K. I would love to have a legitimate company to work for out of the house so I can be available should I be needed at DD's school which is literally at the head of my neighborhood.

We are taking her out for 7 days for this cruise and then 10 days for our Hawaiian adventure next year. It is easier now than it would be in secondary school. However, for 2010 we plan to co-ordinate around Thanksgiving break and take our Med cruise.

There are school breaks just not when we are going. It made it hard on kids in this district with a kid in this school and in the public school since DD's school did not have a fall break while the public did. They did however start a week later than the public school and will finish a week earlier as there is no winter break either. (There is a break for a week around T-giving, Christmas, and in the Spring).

Because of this school though, we are trying not to make waves as there is a 50 person waiting list and we do not want to lose our place. If were paying for it directly, it would be close to $1000 a month. So we kind of go along to get along on our $70 which covers food for a month. KWIM???

Next year is even going to be tougher as we are on a 15 day Hawaiian cruise in October AFTER the fall break but before the T-giving break. She will miss 10 full days of K.

I honestly just want you to "come clean" and say "yes this is me". All will be forgiven and you can post honest and true posts. :thumbsup2

I have heard of prize indemnification before. Not many insurance companies issue it. I know a basketball team will take out such a policy for something like "Win a million by sinking a free throw from center court" contests.

Jennifer,

I asked for a truce and obviously you do not wish it. I am not flagger in no way shape or form. I am no longer going to respond to anything you post and hope I don't run into you either. I wish I had the time on my hands that you do to search for posts. It was you who posted that you were tired of reading through posts of song lyrics and movie quotes chasing for the next pirate. It is not as if your posts of are of any more importance.

Be it a pirate head or a song lyric posted, it mattered little in the fun little chase for the next pirate. You chose to insult me with your classless little remark. You made it not fun.

Why not quote what this "flagger" person has posted on the site you linked that I had to register on and search for.

We have to cancel this cruise due to an unforeseen medical emergency, I am heartbroken.

I am sorry this happened to him and I would too be devastated to cancel our cruise.

"Classless" is saying your dog is sick and that is why you aren't going on the cruise (bad karma). People can type anything on the computer. It doesn't always mean it is true. You never responded to the numerous similarities between yourself and flagger. Why is that? :confused3 I gave you an honest out to be truthful and YOU took the classless route. :sad2:

To everyone else on here. . .

:confused3 Sorry you had to witness that. I tried to PM them to handle this off the main page. :confused3

my brain is hurting! But I have most of our details now worked out. Here is what we are ending up doing:

Hubby gets in on December 3rd from overseas.

On December 5th we rent a car and drive the 1.5 hours to the airport - arriving in Orlando around 4:30.

We will take ME to the Pop Century for 2 nights.

We will go visit several resorts and view the decorations (anyone have any suggestions of the best ones?) and will eat dinner at one of the resorts.

On Thursday we will rent a car and go to Cape Canaveral (unless if someone knows if any of the shuttle services do this - I would rather have someone else drive) - and we will hopefully see the shuttle take off. Come back to the hotel and relax for the evening.

On Friday we have a BIG day at Epcot. We want to have a late breakfast and then ride rides and stuff at epcot. We are doing the CP package and "dinner" is at 3:05 and then we go to the 6:45 CP (anyone know how long this lasts?) and then we want to stay to see illuminations. It is EMH at epcot that night but not sure we will do it.

Then after we leave epcot we will take ME back to the airport and stay the night at the Hyatt - then get up the next morning after sleeping in a little (I am not a morning person - I almost did not cruise again because of how early we have to get up on the return!) So I would rather leave late from Disney and stay closer (and it is cheaper - meaning I can get a spa treatment for the difference in the Disney room and the Hyatt!)

Then on Saturday morning we get up and go downstairs at the airport and get on a bus to the cruise!

Then when we return we stay the night at All Star Music and will possibly go to parks if we feel like it - otherwise we will just veg.

Now I have a question for you:

If you have a chance to go the the Christmas thing at Magic Kingdom - would you? Is it really a MUST do? What makes it special? Thanks for any input!

Krisann
