Bill's Dad has to go to the VA Hospital here at times and says they wait and wait and wait and then wait some more. :rolleyes1

- Jennifer

Yep, I'm a Patient Advocate at the Portland VA Hospital....they come and tell me about their waits. :sad2: Really though we have gotten the waits down in most areas. The emergency room is a nightmare and some of the surgery clinics have long waits, but mostly we run on time now.....well, except pharmacy where one might wait 4 hours to get a med. :scared: I say I'm sorry ALOT thru my work day.:headache:

I am about to head to Pre-K to inform them of our vacation in writing and just prepared to live with the consequences. Her teacher was far more understanding. Lots of changes in the past two weeks for us and it is very exciting!!!

:goodvibes I don't want to get too mushy but our 7 year old made a cute statement right after we had signed the DVC paperwork. I was walking him out to the car and was explaining to him what we had bought and then told him that it was good for 50 years so that he and his siblings would be able to build memories with their kids one day. He said "thank you Daddy" and mentioned that he would make sure to bring his kids by to thank me and Mommy for this when they got older. When we were disussing how long 50 years was he said "and even if you are gone Daddy, I will bring the kids by your grave site and bring you flowers to thank you for this". I wasn't expecting to hear this from a 7 year old but I have to say I was choking up a bit. Kids are truly one of life's greatest gifts.

- Bill

That's very sweet, Bill.

My dd has a slightly different take. She'll admire something and I'll say, well, one day it'll be yours and she's say "when you're dead?" Um, yeah, then. :lmao:

Wow, Angie, I've got to say, that's a cool job. I've often thought I'd like to be a parent advocate, having navigated 'the system' fairly well for my ds (with a teaching and bureaucratic background), not that anyone would pay me to do it! It must feel good to have a job to help people like that, even though I'm sure the bureaucracy leaves you tearing your hair out on occasion.

I don't know. I thought it would be nice to get a job helping people, so I am now in insurance. I have to say, most days it is a thankless job that just means more people think we're crooks and don't like the insurance guys! :guilty:

Now for something different--I have a photo in this week's contest over on the photography board,

Done. :goodvibes

Hi everyone !

Here's hoping though. I sometimes work at a WalMart that has a McDonalds. I like the Big and Nasty, er Tasty meal. I try to not to eat at McD's too much though. It's risky business nowadays.

There's a fast food commercial--maybe Subway? The guy is asking his colleagues if they want him to pick something up for lunch while he's at some burger place--one woman says, "Can you grab me a 'Can my butt look any bigger' meal?" Cracks me up every time.

I just got off the phone with a friend of mine. She was telling me that she'd wanted to book the 5 day, but it was sold out. She's going to see if any travel agents may be holding rooms. She also said that when her DD (9) came home yesterday - after staying at my house for a week - she told her Mom "you need to buy DVC like Miss Wendy." :goodvibes :goodvibes

:rotfl: Yep, the Taylors are gonna be in that camp too. And congrats to Jasmine on twisting your rubber arm for the cruise next fall! :thumbsup2

Ok, speaking of junk food, I took the plunge with a 6-week timeline: went back to Weight Watchers on Monday. Any other alumni out there? In the bunch of stuff dh brought from our storage was a couple of bags of my "transitional" clothes left over from when I lost weight, and I was thinking, "cool, I can wear that stuff" as my regular wardrobe has gotten...snug. Well, even the "transitional" clothes weren't fitting. And I hate being HOT and sausage-squeezed-in-ish and there's nowhere to buy summer clothes, so I've got to make the old ones fit before we fly to Florida! Of course we're having a Hallowe'en party for the kids on Sunday then I'm making treats for the kids to take to school then there's the whole unguarded candy-bag thing through early November...but at least Canadian thanksgiving is over with! :rolleyes1 But I went to Wendy's for lunch with the kids and only snitched 3 of their fries to go with my chicken grill and side salad. All bets are off on Dec 8, however. popcorn::

I'm sorry, that sucks. I did customer service training (for front liners) years ago and it gave me an appreciation of the frustration of being behind the desk in a hard job...it's so hard for folks to remember the people they're talking to are just people trying to help often within some pretty strict confines...

Yeah...... Tina filled me in last night on what I volunteered to do. I had no idea I was so nice!! :lmao:

Jim has volunteered to do whatever we tell him that he's volunteered to do:rotfl:.

Thanks for all the votes! That should get me into the finals for the week!

Thanks! :thumbsup2 Most days I just have to keep telling myself that I know these people are going through a traumatic time in their lives and they expect insurance is always going to make everything perfect, and it doesn't always necessarily do that. But I try to take as much of the grief as possible so that by the time the people that CAN help gets to them, they have already vented to me.

Another vote for you, Beth. :thumbsup2

I agree with Bill though... I would have voted for that one anyway. The sunset is great and, for some reason, my eye keeps getting pulled to the texture of that patch of water right in the front (at the bottom?) of the photo.

I took a little break due to the cliquish nature of this thread which is still quite prevalent. You might want to also ask Jennifer how many times she quit this discussion since you seem so concerned with my activities on this thread. You might also ask yourself why you had this desire to attack me by calling out something you found odd I posted. Yet since you have read older posts, not once have you called out anyone about their activities planned for the Rasul or their desire to bring home a Disney "surprise".[/COLOR]
I have been reading back to see what I missed while being at WDW and found this post and felt the need to respond.

Please leave me out of any tifs you have with other posters! The reason I gave this thread a break was because of YOU! I honestly can't say it any nicer. All of a sudden you came back on here acting as if nothing happened. I have been a little (okay a lot) taken back how nasty to other posters on here you have been. If it were my first time on here and I saw the posts, I never would have booked this cruise. Please don't scare other cruisers away on here because they have questions, whether they are booked or not. IT IS NOT YOUR PLACE! There are never any stupid questions, just stupid answers. What is YOUR agenda on this thread is my question? You only make statements. Also, if others comment on your statements you do not acknowledge them. Your only main posts are about no Brunch reservations. People have told you over and over again not to worry. You can get one onboard. Also, I found it to be very rude to tell Wendy you wish to never meet her. She has done so much for this thread. How dare you be so rude. Being behind a computer can bring the best and worst out of people because they can be anonymous. I plan to meet these wonderful people and have enjoyed getting to know them these past few months. We all know from the beginning you never had any intention to participate in the meet part. But, we had all been willing to help with any questions you had and they seem to have fallen on deaf ears.

Someone way back mentioned they thought AmberDaClown was flagger. That kind of came out of the blue and they since have not posted. But, I have to say I 100% totally agree. You started this thread and have since been banned from the DISboards for reasons I will not get into on here. I totally understand if you wanted to get back onto the DISboards under another name. But, this was not the way to go about it. No information, is better than misinformation. If you want to be civil and stay then be my guest. But, please keep the nastiness out of it.

I've never done Weight Watchers, but I have decided to get back to eating right and really try to shed some pounds over the next 6 weeks, so count me in! Just think, we'll be able to reward ourselves with lots of dessert on the cruise. :woohoo:

One more thing to flagger . . . Someone joked about the Rasul because they are trying to have a baby and were hoping to come home with their own little "souvenir" (like the Disney commercial). LIGHTEN UP! It was in no comparison to the post about a thong!

I've never done Weight Watchers either, but I needed to lose a few pounds so I can gain them back again. I eat salads and cottage cheese with fruit for lunch, and usually don't eat between meals anyway. I agree, though, that on Dec. 8 I will eat what I want when I want. I've never gained any weight on a cruise yet. Of course, Jim gained enough weight on our first cruise that he couldn't wear the pants he left out for that last morning, and had to leave the ship in his swimsuit because everything else was packed. Please, someone, ask him to tell that story when you meet him!

I don't know who flagger is and have no idea who started this thread. I live in NW GA with my hubby and my daughter. I have read nothing in this thread to indicate a connection. I do not have the time to go back through 100's of pages to find out who said what.

I wrote up a long response to this but figured it was just taking away from this thread. You and I apparently have personal issues with each other and because it is a big ship we can avoid each other easily. I will just say that I feel it is just important to post about there being no brunch reservations as it was the day someone posted out of the blue that there was reservations available. If you don't like what someone posts, just move on.

Look why don't we have a truce. You go your way and I will go mine or we can continue to bicker like this and take away from the enjoyment we both want as parents about to undertake this cruise.

Please, someone, ask him to tell that story when you meet him!

Beth

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

How funny y'all mention that, I went to lunch with my mom today and told her that I was ONLY going to drink water from now until Dec 8th., she looked at me and laughed but she said if she saw me drinking anything other than water she would call me on it. I usually eat pretty healthy but just can't give up the sweet 'texas' tea and dr. pepper. I was thinking about just eating a bowl of cereal for dinner instead of a full meal. I know a lot of people to loose a little bit of weight that way.
