:guilty: I'm in a class for Word right now .... maybe I ought to pay attention. :rolleyes1

do you REALLY need it??!! I mean, look at how awesome you are on here. I figure you could probably TEACH that class! :surfweb:

In fact, if any of you need your digital cameras unloaded, I have a media card reader and would be glad to help!

Beth

I might have to take you up on that because I surely don't want to be lugging my computer around only to download pictures and If I bring it I can just see my internet bill because I will have to show everyone the beautiful pictures.

I do teach these classes sometimes but my IT employees are doing them here. It gives me a chance to see them in "action". Plus the MS programs are so big that I find that I learn something new each time. :surfweb:

Is it Word 2007? If so, it's worth it, even if you're experienced with Word 2003. There are a LOT of changes to the whole Office 2007 Suite.

Is any one else packing their mickey ears? I don't know when i will wear mine, but they seem neccesary!

I'm not bringing my laptop... I promised my wife :)

I'll be bringing a 160GB portable USB hard drive and a USB Bridge in my camera bag. I plan on picking up a couple more Compact Flash cards too, prices are looking really good for the Sandisk Extreme III's.

No :sad2: My organization purposefully lags behind in technology upgrades. We'll be on XP for awhile longer and Office 2003. :confused3

Here in the office I'm still using Office 2000. At home I have Office for XP on my computers. The IT guy has told me that maybe some day, if I'm good, I might get Office 2007, but not to hold my breath!

The only thing we're trying to decide is do you give up a great location that we have, being next to the "secret" deck and close to the back stairs to topsiders, and possibly get up to around $500 back, versus the chance of getting a Cat 12-9 possibly on a lower deck?? :confused3 Decisions decisions!!! We can't decide!!!!!! :sad2:

I've been on the ship 3 times, and I really don't think there is a "bad" deck. We've only been on decks 6 and 7 so far, but folks who've been on 2 and 5 love them because they are quiet. And deck 2 makes it easy to get to the dining rooms and shops. Plus you can go forward on deck 2 and then up to the Walt Disney Theatre - skipping all the crowds.

do they mail you a check?? Or put it back on your credit card??
The answer is Yes. Part of your refund will come from DCL and will go back on your credit card. Part of the refund will come from the TA's comission if you booked thru an agent. But the amts are kind of wacky. For my DB's cabin the price went down by $1200, and $235 came back by check and the rest by credit card. For my sister's cabin the price went down $1038. $500 went to my credit card, $348 went to her credit card, and we got a $190 check from the TA.:confused3

Well now I'm REALLY confused. What if your credit card balance is at zero?? How do they add a credit when there's nothing there??
This happened to me when I had to cancel my NW flights (which were booked on one credit card) and rebooked on UA using my new Disney Visa. I got a refund from NW, which resulted in a credit on my other card. Since I'm not using the card anymore, I asked them to send me the credit. If your DSIL has a balance due on her card, then your credit will get consumed in her balance due. She'll need to come up with the cash to pay you back.

I am bringing my thong.

:scared1: That brings a whole new meaning to the term "Amber Alert"! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Wendy, But, I saw SSR in your signature earlier today and wanted to "officially" tell you. . .

:cheer2: CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR DVC MEMBERSHIP! :cheer2:
- Jennifer

Thank you! I can't wait to stay at SSR in December.

Good morning, Wendy!

Jennifer - it's only about 45 minutes down to DL for us, so we wouldn't really even have to spend the night. Though we've talked about driving down on a Friday to spend the night just so we can get in nice and early Saturday without having to wake up earlier for the drive. He'll eventually want to go. We've actually been right next door to DL a couple of times for other things, but never made it over there.

When I was stationed in San Diego, Jasmine and I used to stay at the Howard Johnson's right across the street from DL. You can just walk over in the morning. Now that they have CA Adventure there, plus Downtown Disney, it really is a 2 day trip. Be sure to go on Soaring at CA Adventure. It's awesome!

We were tempted to call our family and friends last time, but couldn't imagine what the phone bill would have been.:scared1: Bill expenses his cellphone too. But, I don't think they'd go for calls made on vacation in the Caribbean unless they sent him there.
- Jennifer

Back in 2003, I was able to use my Sprint Cell phone at St Thomas, and didn't get charged anything extra. When I got home, I asked Sprint about it and they said that they don't advertise the service, but it usually works.

Thank you for keeping track of all that. I know it can be tedious trying to weed through the posts to find the pirates. pirate:

- Jennifer

No problem. And I discovered that if you hover over the page numbers at the top of the thread, it'll tell you the post numbers on each page.:surfweb:

I'm mostly afraid of this "always connected" thing now that they offer the cell phone service at sea. Apparently some people have reported getting outrageous charges if there phone was even on due to digital background downloading. DH has a Blackberry and I have a Sidekick... both of which do the all access to web, email, etc. I think I'll be turning mine off and sticking it in the safe for the duration of the cruise just so I don't get charged when I get another one of those emails telling me how I can earn $6000 a week working just 45 minutes a day from home. :lmao:

Yep definitely turn off the data services. I racked up 90 Euro checking my Email on my GSM phone on a 7 day Greek cruise.

We've been on Decks 2, 5, 6 and 7 and liked them all. We've never been farther forward than the mid-ship elevators, but have never had any problem with any room location.

Office 2000 and XP really? That's pretty far back, but I understand it. For what I know, the only real changes between 2000, XP, and 2003 were in Outlook. Office 2007 is a whole new beast though.

I just released a SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services project for a BOM Costing and Forecasting Cube, and we had to get about 1000 users upgraded to Excel 2007 to be able to plug into that cube and create some really powerful and flexible pivot tables and charts from the data. Excel 2003 has a plug in for connectivity, but the interface and layout are severely limited compared to 2007.

My company is not planning to migrate fully from 2003 to 2007 until late next year. Excel has gotten a lot more powerful in this version, with row and column limits greatly expanded from previous versions. Something like 1.5 million rows verus 65 thousand rows, and 200 Thousand columns versus 256 (those are rough guesses, I don't remember the exact numbers :). And the entire UI is a lot different than previous versions. Part of the new Net FX (.NET 3.0 Presentation Foundation) framework, I believe.

She said I hadn't been assigned a cabin number yet because we get our television through cable instead of satellite. :confused3

So have you got your satellite yet??? Hurry up it's almost time to cruise! :rotfl2: :lmao:

Jim was reading over my shoulder just now (the closest he's come yet to DIS'ing), and he thought you meant that Al Gore was on our cruise!
Beth

:rotfl: :rotfl:

Yes, congratulations Wendy! :yay:

- Bill

Thanks Bill....your turn next!!

That works great for me! :bride:
We book hotel reservations in addition to park tickets etc for WDW, I am with the repeaters (guests who have been to disney 3+ times)
Maybe you can offer some reassurance.... I start work this Saturday and have 6 weeks of training, right after that is our "weddingmoon!" Do you think Disney will be upset that i am leaving for a week during the busy holiday season, even if i cleared it with my recruiter/labor dept. ???
Im a bit nervous about starting my new job!:scared: :scared: :scared:

Cool, Bridal shower is 2nd Sea day - tentatively around 4pm. :bride:

You'll do great at the res center. You're lucky that you're working with folks who are repeaters. You probably won't have to answer as many "silly" questions. I've noticed after working at Disney and answering questions like "what time is the 9 o'clock parade?" that we ALL lose our minds when on vacation. I'd definitely recommend joining the CM only thread they have here, because you WILL need to vent at times. If you've already cleared your time off, then no they won't be upset with you. Just volunteer to work weekends/holidays before then if you think it'll help to show them that you are serious about the job. If you study the website and different hotels as much as possible that'll help to alleviate your nervousness. I know its alot, but the more knowledge you have about the products you're selling the more confident you'll be. :thumbsup2

IMHO...If something that silly offends anyone, they just need to get over it! ;)

::yes::

I did leave the computer on the bed with me just in case I woke up early ..... but I didn't. :goodvibes

Do us a favor Brack, don't tell us every place you take your computer okay???:rolleyes1

I like it but we ought to use the 'Pirate Nun' for the icon. :rotfl:

Definitely!

Now I have to activate the
pirate2.jpg
radar too?

:lmao:

No :sad2: My organization purposefully lags behind in technology upgrades. We'll be on XP for awhile longer and Office 2003. :confused3

I've got XP Home and XP Media on my computer and laptop. DD's new laptop just came with Vista, which just confuses me, but I'm sure she'll figure it out! I must say it is locked down pretty tight. She can't even delete a desktop icon without an administrator's permission.

And I'm finally caught up on the thread! :faint:

Now I'm going to relax and watch ER. :happytv:

Soarin' is my very favorite Disney ride! And, it is the first ride we did with our good friend Brack, way back in March 2006. :thumbsup2 There are 2 Best Westerns directly across Harbor Blvd from DL that we have stayed at also. Clean comfortable rooms, the one directly across the street (closest hotel to the Main Gate!) also has some rooms that will sleep 6. We have stayed there a couple of times when we have taken several grandkids with us.

helloemi: I don't even own mouse ears! I guess I'll have to remedy that in December, won't I? Good luck with the job--maybe we'll be talking to each other not long after I return from the December trip. There's a spring trip planning itself in the back of my mind, and I'm certainly a return visitor. We've been visiting WDW since 1978.

WIFamily: I think the newer versions of Excel might be overkill for me. The biggest spreadsheets I create are several hundred rows and about 60 columns, in workbooks of no more than 30 pages. I've gotten really good at creating formulas and cell references though!

Cruise: Hmm, I couldn't get on the ship because I didn't have matching luggage, and I just had my satellite service disconnected and changed over to cable (too many trees in the way of the signal). I don't stand a chance of getting on the ship!

Wendy: I love ER. I block out that hour on Thursday nights so that I don't miss it. It's actually on my calendar and in my Palm Pilot!

Well, it's back to work once again!

Beth

I am really learning things in this Excel class. :surfweb: So I can't post much 'cause I need to keep up. :woohoo:
