Last year when Disney Visa holders got advance notice on free dining:

Did you get some direct notice from Disney Visa?
Was there a limit on how many rooms you could book?
Did you have to give your visa #?
Did you have trouble getting what you wanted?

1. No, well not until after most of the rooms were sold out for the deal.
2. Yes, 3 I think.
3. Yes
4. Nope, thanks to early warning from the DIS and the best TA around! (Sue Ellen from DU)

All questions answered, but wanted to say regarding your Visa--you had to actually put the deposit on your Disney Visa, so yes they needed your number. If it wasn't for the disboards we would never know about these things, because Disney Visa is not too great about letting us know in advance. I believe Mary (mousesavers.com) also alerted us to this, or was she the first indication that this was coming....it's all a blurr. We had about 3 days to book our choices before the public could. But now the rules have changed, and since current resort guest are getting advance booking opportunities, availability may be completely different than last year. Our UK friends got to book several months ago, now onsite guest staying at a disney resort (until Dec. 31, 06) get to book in advance and if there is anything left, the rest of us may be given the opportunity to book the "leftovers". I, personally, would make sure you have your desired resort in mind, and at least two backup resorts to choose from if your first one is not available.

Thank You for taking the time to write out what I was thinking! :teeth: :teeth: It's much more complete than my little answers!

are they offering this for December 2006

No.

There was a package discount for stays up to 12/23, but you had to book by 9/30. Those discounts were released 3 days before the same discount was released to the public.

Free dining ended on 9/30. It has never been offered for December.

No, free dining is only been offered in Aug/Sep 2005 and 2006 (hurricane season). We are all hoping and waiting for it to be offered again for the same time in 2007. However, if you are staying at a Disney resort from Nov. 7 to December 31, 2006, you are being offered this promotion early. You must book it before you check out and pay the deposit. This is the first time this promotion has been offered in this manner, so the rest of us are all waiting and wondering if we will get the offer and what resorts will be left for us to choose from.

I assume you cannot use this free dining if you are using an email pin.

If you are using an email pin for your trip this December, you should be able to book a trip for August/Sept of 2007 using this discount package.

You can only use one discount at a time for each trip. If you book for 2007 this year and then you get a PIN you have to pick the better deal, not both.

A question I have regarding the Disney Visa & Free Dining (2006)...did any of you have reservations for Aug/Sept PRIOR to the announcement and then changed them for the Free Dining? If so, was it an issue to change them specifically if you used a TA? Or did you just call the TA & tell them to apply a code to your reservation & they dealt w/it? Did you still get the same resort you originally had?

I would like to hear first hand reports on this also.

Yes, and also in 2005. I booked my room early and then called and added the code as soon as I could. I called the day the code was released to Disney Visa card holders and had no problems.

In 2005 I tried to change my dates forward by one day about a week after the code was out and there was no avalibility. This past fall I was able to change my dates with no problem several days after the code went out to the general public.

Both years I travelled at the very end of the promotion getting there on the second to last day the code was good for.

We had ressies for Sept 06 before the promotion came out. (I am a Disney VISA cardholder.) I then found out the day before on the DIS, and was able to call Disney directly and change it. We did not book through a travel agent. We kept the same exact resort, dates, etc., and they took the dining plan cost off of our bill (we had book the dining plan originally). We never heard anything directly from VISA. I even contacted them to find out how to be "put on the list" if this happened again, but I never got a response.
