06/24/2006 - Special Western Cruise - Who Else!?

Gasp!! Horrors!! :sad2: this was almost to page 2 again. Here we are 9 1/2 days from our double dip and we are almost to page 2!!!

Are you people not excited???? :Pinkbounc

Are you not ready to go?? :confused3 Well, I guess not physically, but what about mentally????

This time next week, everything will be done at my house, all quiet, all in bed (yeah sure! :rotfl2: ) because the next morning at 5am we will be getting dressed to hit the airport.

Well we won't hit the airport-at least I don't think dh's mom will. ;) Love ya MIL!! :lovestruc

C'mon folks let's get it started! :cheer2: For those of you who teach or have teens, you should recognize that as a recent pop song!!! We played it a few too many times :bitelip: so it's stuck in my head!!

Hey, why isn't that banana guy dancing???? Let's try it again!!!

I think he's frozen. maybe this will do better!!! :woohoo:

C'mon p. 116!!! Can you tell I'm a bit bored??? :bored:

I actually worked very hard today cleaning the basement (bulk truck pick up tomorrow-anyone want a bunk bed, 4 old computers with monitors-we took the hard drive but hey, I'll throw in the 4 keyboards!!!, 3 tv set or was that 4)

I had to make room for the main event. Yes, you guessed it. Packing!! The family has officially been warned, if it is on the pool table, DON'T TOUCH, if it is hanging near the pool table, DON'T TOUCH!!!

Wanna make a bet who touches first?, ds-15 almost 16 or dh-he's really old.
I'm going for the teen. Always testing me.........

:cool1: :cool1: I got my cruise docs!!!!! :cool1: :cool1:

Lorie - my money is on the DH. Even with my testing teens, the DH is one to touch the "do not touch" pile! :rotfl2:

I have three gazillion lists, one pile of the cruise essentials and no packing done yet. I think there's something wrong with me. :sad2: I'll bring out the suitcases tomorrow!!

SuJo, I have to admit that I'm a BudLight gal but the Chocolate Martini sounds really interesting (okay the Margarita on the beach sounds pretty good too!)! What's in a chocolate martini? :stir:

Bairdbeth - Take extra good care of yourself!!! We want you healthy next weekend!!

Princess Vija - :rolleyes1 All I want for Disney is my two front teeth, my two front teeth, my two front teeth :rolleyes1 :rotfl2: :rotfl2: So glad to hear you got in to see the dentist!!!

pixiedust: pixiedust: Here is the first round of pixie dust (and a few extra prayers) for those who are getting ready for pre-cruise travels and vacations!!! Be safe everybody!!! pixiedust: pixiedust:

Kindly,
Meg

I have been away on travel and you all have been really busy. Actually, I am writing this from Orlando :cool1: where I am on business :sad2: . I flew in today and back out Friday, and then we leave for here again next Wednesday for the cruise.

My wife has been cleaning the house like crazy since she is now off from teaching. My 9 year old son had braces put on yesterday and having to learn how to talk again. Hope he learns by the cruise or no one will understand him. However, if he does not learn to talk again it will be a much quieter drive to Florida because he will not be able to fight with his brother :goodvibes

Going over to DTD tomorrow evening. Will have to look for POC pirate: shirts for the boys.

Weather here today was 89 degrees and cloudy tomorrow is 91 and showers in the afternoon (typical Orlando summer weather).

Meg, you are too funny! :rotfl2: And I appreciate the pixie dust and prayers. getting nervous about that darned flight... but it beats 24 hours of driving!

We did some commando shopping today. Got a lot of stuff done and lots of things bought! Now a question about the pillow cases. Hate to put this on the main board because I am sure I would be flamed as this has been asked a zillion times, but I don't remember the specifics. When you have 2 pillow cases, do you put them both in a ziplock bag for your stateroom, or do you put each in its own bag? I bought the fabric markers, but I don't have enough to split into 2 bags.

I also asked this question on the main board. But what about money? What is accepted at the stores in CM and cozumel? Our excursions are through DCL, so I don't have to worry about that payment. Do we tip the tour guides though? So much to think about...! :bitelip:

Musicgirl, this post is for you!

Saturday  (dancing at sailaway party)
Sunday :beach: (Having fun at CC)
Monday :boat: (Enjoying the ship at Sea Day)
Tuesday party: (your gathering on Maj. beach) We will be :drive: on our way to the ruins!
Wednesday pirate: (need I say more?)
Thursday :boat: (on our way to CC... AGAIN!)
Friday pixiedust: pixiedust: (Double the MAGIC!)
Saturday :tiptoe: (Trying to find a place to hide so we can keep cruising!) :tink: With a little bit of pixie dust we will see the Space Shuttle take off!

Yes, I am SUPER excited, and thought I would make a tribute to you AND add to our post count! :yay:

I finished my cruise packing!!!! party:
Almost done with WDW pre and post packing!
We have swim practice and meet most of the day tomorrow, swimming and doctor recheck and Disney Store visit for more Disney $'s on Friday, we are kicking off our Disney vaction with the Disney Live magic show on Saturday. Sunday is reserved for Father's Day celebration with my parents and then packing up the van. We leave at 5:00am on Monday. So I had to stay up and try to finish tonight! :Pinkbounc
Can't wait to meet everyone! :grouphug:

Princess Vija - I believe that you can put both pillow cases in one ziplock bag. I don't know about money on CM but we did use US dollars on Cozumel. I don't know for sure but I bet we can pay with US dollars on CM too. We tipped our tour guides, but I think that is a personal decision.

I am so jealous of those who are done packing!!
Since I will be working up til thurs and we leave very early Friday I better get moving. My 10 yr old has grown a lot and i had to make him try everything on--that was fun.

My high school graduate-at least i think he graduated, I know i sat in the pouring rain for 3 hours looking at everyone's umbrella-- will not do anything til the last minute!!!

My husband does his own and I never know what to bring--the only thing I know for certain is that my crocs are making the trip.

To those going to BCV have a great time. We love it there. hoped to get a trip in this summer, but no availability there for DVC.

Has anyone checked the extended forcast for Port Canaveral? Our last few cruises we had rain the day we arrived and on 2 pouring rain the day of departure.

I'm off to work-had to get my dis fix in--my family thinks I'm nuts always reading these posts.

Now there's the excitement I was talking about! :goodvibes

Meg I love the song about the 2 front teeth!! :rolleyes1 I know this one isn't for music, but it's pretty close!!!

Vija-Thanks for the colorful post!! I was laughing about the thread as I saw all the posts! Let's see if he's working today.

BethA-I'm pretty sure if I can't bring magnets on the plane, crocodiles will definitely not be allowed!! :lmao: Just kidding!, you are referring to the shoe things right???

I know what you mean about the weather. Out of 3, 2 of them rained before and after the sail away party. But not the last one!! Smooth sailing! :sail:
Trip #1 was a really bad storm and I was soooooo sick. :sad2: DH went in the then ESPN box and no one was in it. The CM there said he'd never seen it that bad!! :umbrella:

US $$$ are accepted in CM. I read it on a travel guide. $1 = 10 pesos. It also mentioned that the best place to eat at Maj. Beach is El Faro.

In Coz, they mentioned a great buy would be black coral jewelry.

40Mom - Congrats on the cruise docs. I am sure you were doing the happy dance when they arrived :dance3: . In a chocolate martini you have vodka and usually some type of chocolate liqueur. My favorite recipe is the Godiva Chocolate Martini recipe that has vodka, Godiva chocolate liqueur, creme de cocoa, and half and half. It is amazing. We have made it at a few parties and it goes over smooth ::yes:: .

bairdbeth - Now that you are done with your packing can you head over here and do mine :worship: ? I am still just trying to make sure I have everything on my list. I got my flat duct tape in the mail yesterday, so that is a check. I am doing laundry :laundy: and then pulling out the clothes for my DD's, that way they won't wear them before the trip and I won't have to rewash them. Enjoy the Disney Live show. We took the DD's when it was here in DC and it was pretty good. We are use to the ice shows which are great and lots of characters. This is a magic show so no real story theme just some cool magic tricks pixiedust: .

We went and saw Cars the other day. That was such a good movie. My DD's and I really enjoyed it. Today is their last day of school :jumping1: , finally!! They have been driving us crazy. They will start camp next week and then we leave on Friday.

According to the local extended weather forecast, the prediction as of now is 87 and sunny  On our last cruise it rained and we had to have the sailaway party inside. It was ok but not great and we are really hoping to get to do it outside this time.

Also on the local station here in Orlando, they are doing a report on the astronuants arrived yesterday and are going through practice for the launch. The official announcement of the launch date is supposed to be released later today.

bairdbeth - Yes we are wearing our costumes to dinner as well! Hope we are not the only one? :confused3

Carol88 - I love french Martinis they are the best. My DH and I will be at Martini tasting. I enjoy wine as well but not my DH :sad2:

got docs yesterday :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: I was sooooooo :hyper: :hyper: . After I open package there was not much in there :rolleyes1

Minnie7701 - What is a french martini? I've had lots of different kinds, but never a french one!

Well we will not be doing the Fury Catamaran in Cozumel anymore. :sad2: DW decided she would have more fun doing a ruin tour. I am now anxiously waiting for an email for the David and Ivan tour in Costa Maya in hopes they have room for my family of four. I think this is a better option for us since I really want to explore Cozumel and try to hit a beach in the afternoon.

When you hear about it, can you post it ASAP? We are planning to be at KSC and hoping that they will send the spaceshuttle up on the 1st like their original plan. I have been talking to KSC and they have so many activities planned for the 1st and security is very tight. Anyone entering is getting a background check as we speak! I ordered our tickets and they send you your vehicle placcard. You HAVE to have it as you can not go there that day and hope to get in because of the background checks! They then mail them, and they are mailing them out on Monday. Since we are starting our vacation on Wednesday I was so worried that we wouldn't get the mailing in time, so they have been working with me and are going to overnight it! Can't wait!

Just sat down w/ :surfweb: my tea to relax and of course the phone rings. Ds9 forgot his lunch and could I pleeeze bring it to him. So much for relaxing it'll have to wait till the cruise, cannot wait

Ok, I am sitting here in tears. Why??? Because I just got that feeling! :goodvibes We are going to DISNEY! I was just reading about someone who is afraid to cruise and needs convincing. That was my DH when we did the 3 night. The entire family loved it. I never ever thought we would be able to go on another cruise again... only because of the $$$. And now here we are 1 week and 2 days from stepping on that lovely Lady Magic!

FYI a funny story of how our trip came to be.

Last year we were finally looking for a house. We had made some bad decisions when we were married (use of credit cards) and we had to pay those off. It took forever and never thought we would be able to buy our own house. Well we worked hard and things just seemed to work out so we started to look. I wanted to maybe build a house because when you are paying that kind of money why not get exactly what you want? DH wanted to buy a built house because I was in school and he knew we didn't have the time to and patience to build. Well, we looked and looked and couldn't decide. I finally gave in and we put in a bid on a house. We didn't get it. Then I went back to thinking of building. DH asked me to go look at a house we had looked at earlier that DH still liked. I wasn't convinced. When I went back I truly did fall in love with the house. SOOOO I sneakily :tiptoe: called him and asked if we could compromise. I agreed to buying that house if we could go on a Disney cruise. (Of course I already knew we would be bidding on the house!) He said "sure" after a pause and then I told him great because we were putting in a bid that very moment! LOL!!!! :woohoo:

So we both got what we wanted! :yay:

anyone else have a funny story of how their trip came to be?

1HappyFam - I got a chuckle from your message. My ds,16 was notorious for calling when he forgot his lunch!! He is in Germany for 6 weeks this summer and, yep, you guessed it, he called shortly after arriving to say he forgot something!!! :rotfl2:

Some things only get better as they get older!!!
