06/24/2006 - Special Western Cruise - Who Else!?

Still no docs here, and then today.....the UPS truck came driving down the street......slowed near our house............STOPPED!!!! ......and delivered a big package of school uniforms for next year! UGH!!!!! I'm sure you can all just picture the excitement on the kids' faces! :rotfl2:

We booked through Costco, so I guess they are giving ours the careful once over and very personal service that all of their mass TA customers get before sending them out. :confused3 Oh well.....just have to keep reminding myself that I saved money. Our reservation is still on the DCL website, so I think we're o.k.

Add us to the list of people on Deck 6.....we're in 6016 & 6018.

I was also in the DDD crowd, but I might need to start a new acronym for the "not so successful DDDs" as to be honest, I haven't lost a thing. It's been a long year! I need a vacation and then maybe I'll get back to that weight loss thing!!!!!

Add me to the list of people very happy that the school year is over.....probably more happy than ever! I'm not a teacher (DH and I are IT people :surfweb: ), but I spent a ton of time at school this year.....picking up my DS-13 who wasn't feeling well at least 50% of the days due to a recently diagnosed chronic illness......it was one stressful year trying to make sure he got all of his make-up work done and worrying about what impact this would have, if they'd hold him back, etc. He ended up with First Honors for the whole year, so in hindsight, all the worrying seems irrationale, but I really did wonder if he'd be the first kid with First Honors to be held back. Anyway, I'm just so glad it's summer!!!!! I feel like a huge stresser has been eliminated at least for a few months. Did I mention I need a vacation? Hey.....how about we all go! :cool1:

Looking forward to meeting many of you at Beaches and Cream in just under 2 weeks and the rest of you at the Sail Away party!

Linda

Linda-love the UPS story!!

OMG-I"M READY TO SCREAM!!!!!! I was just informed that Delta will not allow me to take my magnetic door signs on board. That it is a federal law and is on the dangerous material list.

Well, I should have checked the mailbox earlier. Costco sent our cruise docs Priority mail......I was watching for the wrong truck all along!!!

I'd be interested in the Delta issue too.....what could be hazardous about paper and magnets?

Linda

Buzz - glad you got your docs!

Lorie - If the actual magnets are what is in question I think Delta gave you bad info. Nothing on the TSA website says that magnets are prohibited.

Linda-great news on the Docs!!!

I'm going to check this out myself as well. They said that possibly at high altitudes there could be a chemical reaction or that it may mess with controls.

Right now the plan is to Fed ex them to myself at ASMO. I've checked with Fedex, the resort and just now with DCL to make sure there won't be problems.

Unbelievable!!!!!

Hey Lorie - What a strange thing! How did you find out about the magnets? I can't imagine that Delta would even know about them if they were packed in your suitcase. People take them on planes for cruises all the time. And what about all of the souvenir magnets people buy on vacation. We bought a couple on our last cruise, flew home Song and we were never questioned. I'm going to take my chances and pack them in my suitcase!

Carole-I called Delta to see where I should pack them-carry on or checked. The gal who I asked, didn't know the answer so she called around and was told no. I asked for someone else, he said no.

I probably can't even try to bring them on now since there's probably and asterick by my name with "look for magnets" and "difficult". We'll probably get searched a million times over like last time!

I looked on their site and the govt. site and neither one say anything about it.

Maybe if I call tomorrow, I'll get a different answer.

barbarac - Our DD will be 9 in August and she is also shy. Will you be staying at the Radisson the night before the cruise? If so, we will be having a meet by the pool around 2 pm.

Sujo-I agree that the children should not give too much personal information over the web. I don't let DD go online without mine or my husband's supervision. You never know who they could be talking to. Does anyone else supervise or am I just an overprotective parent?

Carole88 thanks for starting the tween group thread. I will have DD go on tomorrow since it is so late tonight.

I keep seeing posts where people have gotten cruise baskets from Shirley. I can't seem to get her at the right times. I keep getting her answering machine. I don't want to call during the day because I would have to give my credit card # over the phone with numerous co-workers around me but I think she's gone by the time I get home in the evening. I would fax my order but I was hoping to get some ideas from her. I hope that I can figure something out. :confused3

Tomorrow is going to be our big shopping day and packing for the rest of the week. Oh what fun!!!! :woohoo:

Can't wait to be back HOME! :cheer2:

This post has a few "nuggets" that just beg for the tag fairy! pixiedust:

Getting closer! :Pinkbounc
I took my car in for oil change and trip check yesterday to Firestone. They said there was a small leak in my side transmission pan and that I should take it to the dealer since it is still under warranty. I took it today and guess what? It wasn't transmission fluid. It was brake fluid. The service advisor said that my brakes would have gone out soon :scared1: So glad I decided to get the oil changed this week or I might have lost my brakes on the way to WDW. They have me in a rental now. It is a HUGE extended cab Silverado! And I thought my van was long :rolleyes2
2 weeks from today, we will be at the Radisson, not sleeping because "we're too excited to sleep!" :hyper:
Well, back to the last load of :laundy: of the night and then on to bed!

Wow! Miss a day and you miss a lot!!

Thanks for starting the tween thread! My DD is at a soccer tournament but she will be thrilled to know she can have her own board to post messages!! And I agree with all of the previous posts about safety! As long as I'm there and watching I feel better!

No cruise docs yet. I trying to be patient but it is so hard!!

More later, off to soccer!!

Lorie - when I get to work Monday I will check on the magnet issue for you. I think they are full of it, but I will check anyway. Now, if you were going to be in the cockpit - yes - that would definately be a problem.

Did you just book? or did you just find us? Have fun reading, there is a ton of info on these boards and if you don't see it, ask and we'll help!!!

I recently found these sites and have pretty much rearranged ground transport and tours based on all the feedback. I was hesitant to join the meet thread but thught I'd go for it!!

Oh it's never too late. Even though there are 110 pages, about 30 of them have been in the last 3 weeks. And at least 1 entire page was me trying to get to page 100!!! :rotfl:

There is a kids thread for those that want to correspond. I don't know if it is for a certain age or not.

So sit back, popcorn:: and enjoy!!! Actually, I was doing just that, eating popcorn at the computer.

don't forget the dismeet at 4:30 on the port side for the sail away. I'll be sporting my beautiful lime green glasses!!! If you are at the port early, I'm sure you'll spot some green disers as well. :bounce: :thumbsup2

I will have to go back and read alot, everyone seems to know each other already it's great. My dd will turn 13 on the ship and isee that the perfect gift might be good for me to check,so thanks for the info! I guess I need to wear lime green for the meets? I am definitely getting hooked on these boards!!How do I add those cute smilies?(sorry such a begginner ?)
