06/24/2006 - Special Western Cruise - Who Else!?

It's a happy day for Carole!!! I know how that feels, I just paid if off myself.

Yes, we can do ressies and such on-line. CC members can do their ressies as of March 26.

Just remember that it opens at 3am central time. I think that is right. I'll check it though. And if you don't get something, don't worry because they do not post all of the available ressies. They keep some open so you can book when you get on board. I think they did this just to relieve some of the ressie rush.

I really only have a Palo brunch and the Teen Wild Side to schedule. If I do the rainforest, that can wait and I won't be doing anything else in the Spa.

That's all I will need. Hopefully it won't be too terrible at 3am!!!!!

Before you book ressies, make sure you can bring up your reservation on the DCL site during the day before. That way if there are any problems, you can call DCL and get it fixed. I couldn't get to mine at first because I was not marked as a CC member.

I thought that the reservations opened at 3 am eastern time. Will definately have to get the right time. I want to have everything done beforehand so that we don't have to go through the ressie rush. Looking forward to just relaxing by the pool on the first day!

Check on the main cruise board to find out your pirate name.

I'm Captain Anne Cash!!

Hey Ethel!!! Is there a Lucy any where????

I think we are going to try to get Palo brunch ressies for Mon at 11. So if anyone wants to create a dis meet with us, come on along!!! :grouphug:

I've heard of this, but I don't think anyone on our meet has mentioned going so far.

I know a few of us are planning to head to Maj. Beach a few miles down the road. I don't know if those plans are for sure for them, I know that is what we are planning on doing since we are doing an excursion at Coz. (keep my fingers crossed here).

My kids watch the Disney Cruise DVD at least once a week! We can't wait!!!!
We will be in Cat#11 room 6571! I have DD (8) and DS (5) my husband and I are in mid-30th. Does any one have advice on the rooms is it worth to upgrade? pixiedust:

Hi Minnie and a big welcome!

Well, we were in a cat 11 room last April for our 4 day cruise and to tell you the truth, we were hardly ever there. It served its purpose, to sleep and shower. It was such a busy cruise, we didn't care. Now having said that, we booked a verandah for this cruise! I think a 7 day, we'll be in our room alot more, especially early mornings and late at night. But really, its completely up to your personal desires and tastes. Do you like relaxing early in the morning with a cup of coffee, enjoying the ocean view or would you be perfectly happy up on deck 9 at the buffet? Would you like a mid afternoon rest on the verandah or would you like a nap on the bed and an inside darkened room would be fine? Its all up to you. You'll love either one! Anyway, welcome to our thread, we're glad to have you. :)

Thank you for the grand welcome! I do have to admit, I am a little worried about becoming addicted to DCruising? It sounds like most of you have been on it before and love it soooo much you are back...I guess my kids will not find this too terrible of an addiction.hehehe
Anyway hope to meet lots of you on the trip! I have received several great tips about the (shoe hangers, zip lock bags and pillow cases for the kids) Thanks!!!

Welcome Minnie!! :welcome:

We are in the same cat. 11 room for the 4th time. So I guess that answers 2 of your questions!!!

If you have even the slightest thought about re-booking, do it on-board to get the room credit. Here we are on our 4th cruise, and I never took advantage. I kept telling myself, no we can not go again.....sure. After the 1st 2 I booked within a month!!!

Wow Wendy -- 6 Disney cruises, I am jealous. This is my first 7 day cruise. Myself (40) and DS (13) did a land/sea package a couple of years ago -- we loved our days on the cruise and couldn't wait to make it on a 7 day cruise. We are taking my mom along (60-ish, can't say her real age, she will kill me!) I am really excited about the 2 stops at CC,Coz and Costa Maya. I sure hope Disney will not change our ports. I saw a report that that said most of Cozumel was "repaired" and up and running.

You mentioned Sally's mini-golf and the beaches. We don't have much cruising experience and thought we would book "formal" excursions to see the sites. But I've heard lots of people venture on their own with no problems. I have seen lots of positive feedback on Sally's -- do you just take a taxi from the ship and tell them Sally's mini golf? Also, can you give me some feedback on the beaches? Did you book excursions or just go? I have seen lots of feedback on Mr. Sanchos.

Thanks for any tips you can offer.

Welcome Wendy!!! :grouphug:

I believe the mini-golf is just a short walk from the pier.

yes, at Coz. it does seem to be cheaper to do your excursions on your own. I compared Chank. Park on your own and through DCL. It was wayyyyy overpriced.

I haven't heard anything yet on Coz. So far only through March is official.
I wonder if they will be announcing April soon. It seems pretty ridiculous that they are so hush hush on this when it seems pretty clear that the regular westerners won't be going since they are still tendering and there are 7 ships in port on those cruises.

DCL is not scoring many points when it comes to this topic. I don't care, I just want to plan.

Pluto,
Is there anything in particular that you want to know about? There is just so much that I wouldn't even no where to begin.

We love being able to go to the adult areas. Ds is 15 and heaven forbid that he is seen with....oh the horrors....his parents!!!! Actually, he is a student where dh and I teach and has been for years (elementary/middle/hs, we are music teachers). I don't really think our presence matters to him. The cruise is a time for him to escape and far be it that we would interfer with this!!!

Diversions has lots of boardgames. I know that may sound strange, but while waiting for an excursion, I saw a dad and his daughter playing having alot of fun.

The treasure hunt on CC sounds like a lot of fun. This is new for us. With 2 days there, it will allow us to relax even more!!!!

With the clubs/labs, warn the young ones ahead of time that the 1st night might not be what they thought. Tell them ahead of time that they need to go a few times to get a good idea about it. Some kids go once and it might be during something they do care for, and then never go back. This was my niece and nephew.

Well, I could go on for hours, and I mean hours. DH gets tired of hearing the "click, click, click" of the keyboard.

Ask away!!!

My wife (43) ,my son (16), my daughter (11) and myself (42) will be there.

This will be our 5th cruise on the Magic. Twice on the Eastern and twice on the Western. This "different" cruise caught our attention, looking forward to visiting Castaway Car twice!

A big welcome Larry :wave2: ! And 5 cruises? No way. You are so lucky. Well, you'll have to give us pointers! :) Join in whenever you can, this is lots of fun! We have three sons...ages 18, 14 and 13.
