06/24/2006 - Special Western Cruise - Who Else!?

To all who have left or heading out, safe travels and we'll see you Sat.

Whew! Recitals done, still baseball playoffs, half days for the older dd and the other two start half days Wed. so getting down the home stretch. Fathers day was so beautiful, laid by pool and played carribean music- it was like a pre-cruise!!! :beach: :cool1:

*Princess vija-so glad the tornado didnt affect you. :)
*BethA and JTJWISE-my ds is 9 turning 10 the week after cruise so sounds like they'll be plenty of boys thier age to meet! :grouphug:
*Lori and Charla-are you trying to freak the rest of us out?? Are those cases all packed? I did at least buy travel needs this weekend and put aside some dressy clothes. No worries, it'll get done, aleways does. I tend to underpack so am trying to think bigger this time.

Getting too excited :dancer:

ohoh...we are slowly loosing disers...not fair!!!
I have to do laudry and pack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is it time to leave? :moped: :moped:

Lee Anne, my bags don't look like Charla's, all closed up. I have about 1/2 in the suitcases, but because I'm trying to avoid as many wrinkles as possible, I'm not closing them yet. About 1/4 of the stuff is ready to be put in, and the last 1/4 will be washed on Wed. am.

No, please don't be frightened by my obsessive behavior, heck, I've had most of my stuff folded in a "cruise drawer" for a year now!!!

Oh my gosh!! Leave for a weekend softball tournament and come back to half our DIS'ers on their way!!!! Oh how I want to be there right now too!!! Friday seems so far away... oh wait, I still have laundry and packing to do!! Friday?!!? YIPES!!!

Thank you 1HappyFam for expressing my own FREAKING OUT :scared1: about the packing. I am going to get serious about it tonight--really I am. :rotfl:

Okay for those of us who are left, when do you leave?

We don't leave until Friday night :guilty: We want to be there now!!! :yay:

musicgirl-are you saying we should bring towels from home? or just be sure to use/grab towels when we're there?

Here's one more pixiedust: with wishes and prayers for safe travel!!!

Meg

Wow you all are doing great with the packing. I still only have one DD's stuff pulled together. The other DD is going to start tonight and I just keep putting it off. I think it is because I am afraid that I have too much stuff. I am definitely an over packer. It is even harder now that they have the limits on the bags at the airport. I have this really big suitcase that I use to love to take because it held so much but now if I barely fill it I am over the 50lb mark.

In bringing the kids snorkel gear, do people bring the fins? I can't imagine snorkeling without them but they are bulky and hard to pack. Where are people packing items like these?

Susan

PS. Can the last person to leave the thread please turn off the lights and unplug the coffee pot :rotfl: ?

Lori- :worship: I'm jealous of the organized but have accepted my fate as procrastinator!
but Meg you have inspired me I will try to start tonight too!
:rotfl:
Princess Vija-I hope you are right! My ds is having his 1oth bday party to see the newPOC2 July 7th and would be so excited to see the ship onCC. I'll wait and let it be a suprise! :yay: pirate:

So glad I found this site, I must say :disrocks:

Meg
You don't need to bring towels from home. If you are leaving the ship for a non disney excursion ( like a private excursion, day at a beach in Coz or CM) grab extra towels from the pool area.

The only times that they have towels handy will be once you get off the ship at CC and if you are doing a DCL excursion. When you meet for these excursions, they have towels for you to take, however they don't usually have enough and then people take 2 for every 1 person.

But definitely don't pack towels in your luggage. Sorry for any confusion.

Vija I'm not so sure if the ship is at CC. There was also an article saying that it is Florida. I guess we'll have to wait and see from the current cruisers or until we get there!

Susan, we pack our fins. It does take up quite a bit of room. We will use them both days at CC, so it is worth it. I've snorkeled without fins and even at CC, it is extremely tiring. So for kids, I definitely would bring them. There's nothing worse than a kid who "can't swim anymore", you're tired and he/she wants to hang onto your back!!!

Well, I won't be turning out the light. We're out of here Thursday at 6am.

I hope the article posted on the main page is right! The one ship docked at Ft. Lauderdale is the Black Pearl, the Flying Dutchman according to different posts is the one docked at CC and is the ship of Capt. Jack Sparrow's rival. How cool would that be to see that ship?!!!

Ok, I know I am crazy, but I couldn't stand now knowing so I called DCL to ask about the Flying Dutchman and she said the ship is scheduled to be at CC but no specified date yet. :confused3 so I guess it will be a wait and see!

we are flying out am Saturday. :guilty: :confused3
OH Well...
Do you think we might see the movie POC on the ship....I heard on the radio is will preview in Hollywood this Friday 6/23/2006! Could that mean we might have a chance? :woohoo: popcorn:: popcorn:: popcorn::

I sure hope that the Flying Dutchman is at CC. I would love to see it and get some pictures. My friends back home would be so jealous!

As far as towels go, if you are an overpacker, you do not need them. You can get them from the pool area to take with you. They even have big bins to put them in when you return to the ship from excursions and the beach. I usually take a beach towel. I use it to find my chair easier. I use a Disney towel to dry off, but use my towel on my chair. With everyone having white towels on the chairs, you can not tell yours from everyone elses. You also can not tell if anyone is using the chair or have left. If the chair has a white towel on it and no one has been there for a while, I will move the towels and use the chair. People save chairs and don't use them for hours at a time. I don't think that is fair and Disney's rule is "NO saving chairs". I have usually been able to find a chair without moving towels off of chairs.

I haven't packed yet, since I don't leave until 6am Sat. morning. I will be the only one of us left by then. I do have a master packing list. I keep adding and deleting things from the list. I won't pack until Friday. I am taking snorkeling stuff, but not the fins. The fins take up too much room and you can rent just the fins at Castaway Cay. I am going to rent them there.

I CAN't WAIT TO GO !!!!!!!!!!!:cool1:

Charla, are those all packed????

:cheer2: :cool1: Yes :cool1: :cheer2:

We could be out the door ready to go in 10 min or less. I just have to throw in a few essentials and we are ready. The biggest bag weighs under 30lbs, and they all have room for souvies :teeth:

I'm hoping we get lucky. The articles posted previously mentioned the premEAR would be on the next cruise. I would love it if they surprised us :cloud9:

Susan - we are taking the fins that came w/ our gear. I put them in the big suitcase in the gear bag that they came with. I only brought 1 set of gear b/c w/ the toddler we both won't get to snorkel at the same time.

Good idea...I have plenty of room for towels. I was thinking of buying CC towels. I don't think I would leave them on a chair alone though. I would hate for someone to pick them up by mistake.

Just spent two days at WDW! For all of us obsessive planners and packers, you wull be happy to know that I have already used Ibuprofen, Aleve, Sudafed, Shout Wipes, and the Tide Pen. Animal Kingdom was a bust today, we went for extra evening hours and they closed a lot of things because of lightning. So we will have an early night and get iup early tomorrow for ther waterpark. Now we have time to work on DD and my lime green glasses that Lorie found at Michaels!

Hi Marie! I'm so glad you're able to check in from WDW! Wish we were there with you!! :teeth:

Dipdotdarlin' your towel idea is great! I just got a giveaway beach towel! It's pretty thin and flimsy but it will be perfect to throw in for the cruise! It can mark my spot with its glaring advertising for a soda not served on Disney :rolleyes1 and would be no great loss if someone loves aforementioned soda so much that they can't live without a beach towel advertising it!! :rotfl2:

Okay, I really need a vacation! :dance3:

Oh, that's right, I'm leaving in 4 days :hourglass

Okay, back to packing  and more :laundy:

In the words of the governor of California....."I'll be bahck!"

Meg

I just have to post for no reason because DS-13 wants to see our ticker!!! :rotfl: :stir: :rolleyes1 pirate: :happytv: :cool1: :Pinkbounc :artist: :grouphug: :woohoo:  popcorn:: :hourglass (oh.....and he had to play with all the "smiles" too!!!!)

Speaking of soda.... I'm a Dr Pepper addict :drinking1
since they don't have it onboard...I have to carry my own on :charac2:
I usually drink 3-4 per day - I'm not carrying on a case of pop though :sad2:

Anyone else share my addiction?

Charla, I can't remember, are you driving or flying??? We're leaving thurs. am by plane landing in Orlando around 10am.

Awesome on the packing!!! My turn! :worship:

Oh Marie-I have extra glasses!!!

Linda, very cute about the kids wanting to see the ticker and use the smilies!! I've that done myself!
