06/24/2006 - Special Western Cruise - Who Else!?

HI,
I spoke with DCL today and they we're able to rebook my lost palo ressies and excursions. They said the teen sunset cruise in Coz is canceled since we are tendering and leaving at 5:30. My DD's are not happy about that!
Whe is the first DD cruise? I can't wait to hear about the theme dining nights schedule.
Wendy :)
My two teens are also disappointed about the teen cruise being canceled. We can try to arrange something for them on the ship -- maybe the Stack counselors will do something special instead.

The first DD cruise is May 27, so there won't be much time after they ge back and we leave.

Was wondering if anyone knows if I can order a special wedding cake while on the ship. We will be celebrating my mom and dad's 50th anniversary. That is what the cruise is for, but there actual anniversary is not until December. We picked this time so that we could all go and my dad's health is not good because of a form of cancer he has. They have never had a wedding cake and we are wanting to get a wedding cake for the cruise. Not just the regular small cake they give for special occasions. Any ideas?
I haven't used them before, but the DIS threads say really good things about Shirley at theperfectgift.cc -- perhaps she could help arrange something special.

Hey everyone. Sounds like we are really getting ramped up for the Cruise :hyper: . I also went shopping this past weekend and bought many things for the cruise (lots of shirts and capri pants). I am also an overpacker so I will be looking for tips on things to bring that don't take much space. We brought the shoe door hanger last time and never used it because we couldn't find a place to hang it, is there a special type you have to use?

Musicgirl - My DH and DD will also be at Hershey Park this Friday for the band competition, what a small world :rotfl: . This our first time for this experience.

As for the DDD, I am doing pretty good. I wanted to lose a lot before the cruise but will settle with what I can get. I am down 8 total :thumbsup2 and am still very motivated. Keep up the good work everyone.

I also don't like to dress up so I will be bringing one dressy dress for formal night. Not sure what to do about semi-formal (maybe a nice sun dress). I wish I could remember how much I used when I cruised last time but that was 2 years ago and my memory isn't that good  .

I haven't checked my reservations in a while but I also printed out everything I reserved so hopefully I can get it back if it is lost. I did order my Disney Reward Card. With all that shopping I am earning a lot of rewards points to use on the cruise :woohoo: and I want to make sure I have that card before we leave.

Well, it's back to the real world and work,

Susan

Don't forget the over the door shoe holder???---mine's already packed and rolled!!!

Susan, that is too cool that they will be at the competition/park!! If they are on the look out, tell them we are DeSales High School. Bill is a tall red head (although it's hard to tell since it is very, very short and getting grayer by the day-did I say that???) I'm short and blond and will probably be wearing a funny hat at the awards ceremony on Sat.

When I just told hubby about them being there, he says oh it that one of those people from your cult??? He just doesn't get it!!

It looks like the late May cruisers are getting their docs, it won't be long now!!! Oh shucks, the UPS guy just left our street, but he didn't stop at my house! :sad2:

Susan-Way to go with the 8 pounds! Keep up the good work!

Received another cruise outfit in the mail today!. It's getting closer! More importantly it is getting much closer for the May Double Dippers. I can't wait until they get back and post their navigators! :mickeyjum

Keep posting so we can get to 100 pages!

Hi all! Just thought I would check in. I'm still shopping and not having great luck. Every time I go to get an over the door hangar they are out of the smaller ones. I'm also struggling to find a "little black dress" any ideas for where to look? At this point I have half a mind to jump on a plane and go shopping elsewhere.

Still no luck getting my CC excursion booked. I'm thinking about doing parasailing instead.

Congrats to the DDD ladies - you are doing great!

RCBA - I don't know if you have a (Lerners New York) but that is a great and afordable place to find a little black dress and some great cruise clothe...You might also be suprised to find some great things at TARGET too.

DDD's - I am feeling a lot better getting use to my Special K and have lost 3 pounds....I hope I can keep up the good work! I have also made a commitment to working out on the ship an hour each day, that way I can eat everything I want and not hold back.

The door shoe holder how does it stay up? which kind is it?

Good morning everyone! Congratulations to all of the DDDs. You guys are doing great. I haven't got on the scales since I had my braces put on. Kind of afraid to since a lot of soft food is not exactly low in calories. (Ice cream, mashed potatoes, etc.) There is only so much yogurt a person can eat!

We always use an over the door shoe rack. We hang it over the bathroom door that has the shower, facing the cabin, not the bathroom. The one we have has two metal bars that are molded to fit over the top of the door. This is one of my favorite tips that I found on DIS. We put everything in it from sunscreen to sunglasses. It really helps us keep down the clutter.

I think that I'm going to go back to Kohl's today. I have to exchange some sneakers for my DD and they are having another sale. No better time to shop! The last time I was there I bought a nice black two piece skirt set that I plan to wear to Palo. I just need one more outfit for semi-formal night. The rest of my family is all set thanks to Ebay for my girls and my DH has a tux.

Well, enough rambling from me. Gotta get the girls ready for school. Hope everybody has a fabulous day!

Charla, have you tried JC Penney's here's a link right to "the little black dress"

http://www4.jcpenney.com/jcp/ProductList.aspx?DeptID=597&PCatID=28247&CatID=35051&CatTyp=DEP&RefPageName=CategoryAll.aspx&RefDeptID=597&RefCatID=28247&cmAMS_T=U3&cmAMS_C=C3&CmCatId=EXTERNAL|28247

My over the door shoe hanger has 4 hooks that go over the top of the door. We put ours on the inside of the bathroom door. I'm actually going to bring a "side" shoe hanger for the closet and guess what, I'm going to put my shoes in it!

Still trying to get ahold of Disney about a cake.

As for DDD I lost 5 lbs this week. (Sounds funny to type this after making a statement about a cake).

Also going into panic about trip home. The day we get off the cruise, we are supposed to drop my parents and sister off at the airport around noon and start driving home. We go through Daytona which is the location of the Nascar race that evening and I know traffic will be bad. May just have to stay the night in Orlando ;)

Minnie7701- Way to go! 3 pounds  Keep it up!
Jeff- 5 pounds is awesome! keep up the good work!

Had to get us off of page 2! We must stay on number 1 :thumbsup2

Hi all!

Way to go DDD's!!! Keep drinking your water!!

Can you tell me a little more about the Pirate event? pirate: Not sure if I should quick get onto Oriental Trading Company website for some more shopping!!

Thanks!!
Kindly,
Meg

Can you tell me a little more about the Pirate event? Not sure if I should quick get onto Oriental Trading Company website

We cruised on the 4 day last year, and Pirate Night was a highlight of the cruise. At dinner, all of the waiters were dressed as pirates, and the menu was themed around Pirates. They handed out pirate scarves to everyone. The menus were like scrolls of parchment. Some people were dressed up, but not everyone. We just wore jeans and colorful shirts. One of our sons had pirate Mickey ears and the other had pirate goofy ears. We bought these at Pirates of The Carribean at WDW, but they also had them in the gift shop on the ship. We did not feel out of place not being dressed up. Later in the evening they had a program on the deck with music and dancing all to a pirate theme. Captain Mickey and crew were there until Captain Hook showed up and took over the ship. They had pirates repelling down the smoke stacks. Later on Mickey takes back control and they set off fireworks. My sons loved the fireworks at sea.

Lorie - Thanks for the link. I'll check the JCP here and see if they have any of those dresses. I've got a back up outfit if I don't end up finding anything.

Minnie - I shop at NY&Co (Lerner) all the time! I was in a week or so ago and all they had were linen dresses. There are a few tops I want to p/u for the trip...I'm waiting for them to put them on sale - they always do ;)

Meg - We won't be "in costume" for pirate night. I'll get DS a hat or a shirt from POTC to wear.

BairdBeth - I can hardly wait for the May DD group to get back. I want to see those Navigators!

DDD - congrats on your success!

I've got a little more shopping out of the way. I got a set of snorkel gear, some board shorts (still looking for a pr I really like though), and some misc. travel sized stuff.

Question - has anyone been able to locate good information on the current condition of the beaches in Mexico. I've read several places that the beaches are mostly rock now due to the hurricanes :( This will be the first time that DH has been out of the US and I don't want him to be disappointed.

Found us on page 2 again :sad2: Got to keep us on page 1 :jumping1: Had our last field trip today! At least today was sunny with a high of 70. The zoo can be miserable when it is hot! 10 days of school left :mickeyjum :donald: :tigger: :hmghost: :sulley:

It's getting harder and harder to wait for our cruise! I have decided to try to make different door signs for different stops. I have modified a welcome aboard one I found, designed one with the ruins for CM, designed one for Coz with mini-golf and hard Rock, designed 1 to represent our 2 sea days and 1 for our 2 CC days. I need to see how they print. They aren't fancy, but DD likes that we will represent our schedule on our door.

DDD's keep up the good work! We have been having issues with the way students are being "placed" ( ie dumped) into our special ed program at just my school. Too much stress from administration, accusations from higher ups who don't know the program have really gotten me down. When I am down, I eat sweets. Hopefully after our 2 meetings next week with higher ups, things may be better, if not... Do you think Disney would hire a 19 year Special educator who is still loves the kids, but can't take the bureaucracy? :guilty:

Bairdbeth - Sorry to hear that that the administrative end of things at your school is so stressful. Hopefully everything will work out. Just keep remembering that we soon will be on our cruise!

Our temperature was in the high 90s today. Might hit 100 by Mother's Day! Surprisingly 100 doesn't feel so hot without any humidity.

Hi everyone!

Jeff-Thanks for the Pirate night update! I think we'll just keep our eyes open for pirate stuff--just in case!!

BairdBeth-Keep your eyes on the 10 day prize! I'm sorry to hear of the icky stuff! Hang in there!!!

Carole88- In Minnesota, it is 39 degrees with rain. Brrrr. It sends me to the Disney boards to look at the beautiful warm weather pictures!!

I am soooo looking forward to this cruise!! I LOVE seeing the tickers counting down to the trip!!!

DDD's--I started running a couple of months ago--I am SO wanting to look good...er....decent.....er...well, let's just leave it at able to get into....a swimsuit for the cruise!! I haven't lost one darn pound. Oh well!

Kindly,
Meg

I got my excursion booked at CC! :cheer2:

Anyone going to Chankanaab? I tried a thread search and didn't find any firm answers. I found a few websites w/ feedback on Coz beaches post Wilma and they weren't all that great. Some have picures and the "beach" is exposed rock :( They say the beaches on the east are great...but the currents and undertow are very dangerous. So...I think we will go to Chankanaab and if we have time to a quick beach stop on the way back to the ship. I wanted to do the dolphin discovery but it is not slated to open until 7/1.

I'm wondering what it will be like in Cozumel. Doesn't sound like they are very well recovered yet from the hurricane. I wonder why DCL doesn't reroute to somewhere else/

Hello, 40Mom, we are also from Minnesota! We live in Eagan. DD14's birthday is today, and he is spending it in the rain, freezing, camping with boy scouts. He will be ready to talk cruising when he gets home tomorrow!
